  • This present work brings forth the debate on education in a broad sense, starting from its ontological and constitutive character of social being, realized in all spaces of social life, and the interrelation of this theme in the curricula of the Social Work courses. It is based on the understanding that professional training must be reconciled with historical processes from a critical and comprehensive perspective in order to fulfill the role of forming critical and engaged individuals in the struggle for an emancipatory societal project. Therefore, the general objective was to investigate how the curricula of undergraduate Social Work courses in public universities in the Northeast of Brazil have addressed education. The specific objectives were to identify and analyze the presence of the theme of education in the Pedagogical Projects of undergraduate Social Work courses in public universities in the Northeast; to examine how education appears in the syllabi of courses discussing education and which theories underpin the curriculum component; to verify the bibliographic references used for the discussion of education in the curricula of undergraduate Social Work courses in public universities in the Northeast, and to identify and analyze the conception of education that underpins the training of social workers in public universities in the Northeast. The methodology used was a quantitative-qualitative approach of an exploratory and descriptive nature, based on bibliographic and documentary research. The research universe comprised 16 undergraduate Social Work courses offered at public universities in the Northeast. The documents researched were the Pedagogical Projects of Social Work courses, focusing on the programs and syllabi of the disciplines. The research data reveal, in general terms, that the curricula of undergraduate Social Work courses in public universities in the Northeast include a consistent discussion on education. We conclude that the dialogical relationship between the training project and education is something that the category has identified as imperative for some time. In view of this, it is perceived that the curricula of Social Work courses in public universities in the Northeast have been seeking ways to ensure that education does not occupy superficial or insufficient space in the training process of social workers, considering that we have noticed the commitment of universities to produce critical, propositional debates that delineate the antagonistic interests that traverse this dimension of social life, as well as to present alternative educational activities of an emancipatory and revolutionary nature as a path to the construction of a new sociability.

  • This research is the result of reflections carried out in daily professional life, resulting from a lot of resistance in the face of challenges present in socio-occupational spaces, with emphasis on public health policy. It highlights a careful reading of expressions of the social issue related to gender and intersections. It is an effort to discuss the underreporting of domestic violence in primary care when it affects black women living in the Railway Suburb of Salvador. The choice of this theme is the result of perception of an increase in cases of domestic violence perpetrated against women, with a focus on black women, which are invisible in primary care notification records. That said, it is pertinent to say that domestic violence committed against women is not a recent problem. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been an enormous increase in cases of violence as a result of the social isolation measures adopted throughout the world. For many women, such measures required them to stay at home with their aggressors. Furthermore, when considering the racial dimensions, it appears that black women, living in the outskirts, are the biggest victims of this violence, and it is important to pay attention to this reality. According to the World Health Organization, violence against women is considered as a public health problem to be faced. In the meanwhile, underreporting of cases prevails within the scope of health policy. Therefore, it is considered urgent to bring visibility to cases of domestic violence that occur at the “gateway to health services”, that is, in primary care. In view of the above, this research presents a qualitative study, based on the general objective of analyzing which factors contribute to the increase in underreporting of cases of domestic violence in primary care, especially when it affects black women living in Subúrbio Ferroviário from Salvador. The specific objectives were: to identify the number of notifications made during the most intense period of Covid-19; to know the perception of professionals about domestic violence and about the non-reporting of cases; and also propose strategies to tackle this problem within the scope of public policies. To achieve the objectives, a literature review was used before and after empirical research, this carried out through the application of semi-structured interviews with 15 professionals who work in primary care in the Railway Suburb of Salvador, including professionals with training different from two health units. The results achieved in this research can be used to expand attention to an existing problem. The professionals' speech expresses their perception regarding violence in their daily professional activities and, the prevalence of cases involving black women lists factors for not reporting them, which challenges us to face this problem and indicates that there are much to advance as a public policy. Finally, it points out the need to continue deepening this discussion at the level of creating and strengthening public policies, so that with enough activism, bridges are built to confront domestic violence committed against black women.

  • This study was based on exploring the complex dynamics of gender relations in the theory of social practices, analyzing the daily life of black women in post-abortion care within the scope of the Social Assistance Policy, proposing to reflect on the context of black women who had their pregnancies interrupted by the practice of abortion. Analyzing the socio-cultural experiences in which these women are inserted. Analyzing the sociocultural experiences in which these women are inserted. Seeking to unveil the representations, their impacts and symbolization attributed to the interruption of pregnancy, in the search to understand how the confrontation of this social reality that criminalizes the subjects who experience this practice occurs. The methodological path that accentuates this work is the white, Eurocentric epistemological disobedience, with the intention of disrupting the productions of knowledge in the social sciences that the academy has proposed, which produce the invisibility of other experiences. A bibliographic research was developed that involved the articulation between several theoretical and research fields, followed by semi-structured interviews with three black women, who experienced abortion itineraries in different ways, being, 1 case of abortion due to rape; 1 case of abortion induced by a third party, without the consent of the pregnant woman; and 1 case of clandestine abortion. The proposal is to bring reflections on how the State, which is structured in patriarchy, based on social and power relations surrounded by issues of gender, race and class, criminalizes abortion. The Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) - Parteira Rufina, where this research was developed, is one of the facilities of the Social Policy of Social Assistance. This center is located in the Recôncavo Baiano, 110 km from Salvador, in the city of Conceição do Almeida – BA, a municipality strongly marked by culturally accepted conservative values, by a colonial, catholic and coronelist logic in its social relations of production and reproduction. The results achieved in this research reveal that abortion is a public health, education and social issue. Through the narratives of the interviewees, it is possible to reflect on the need to think about new care and followup practices, also based on the specificities of black women. As well as reflecting on the construction of motherhood that reinforces gender stigmas aimed at women, through the domination of their bodies, interfering in decision-making.

  • The rise of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has profoundly marked contemporary society, significantly influencing the field of Social Work. This dissertation investigates the relationship between Social Work and ICTs, highlighting the transformations driven by rapid technological expansion. Using a qualitative approach and integrative review, the study analyzes theses and dissertations from 2017 to 2023 to understand the current dynamics between Social Work and information technology. The objectives include mapping the conceptions of technology in Social Work, analyzing the interactions between ICTs and Social Work in the contemporary context, and investigating the contributions of ICTs to the profession. The research revealed a predominant critical perspective, which sees technology as a field of ideological and practical dispute, emphasizing its ambivalent nature as both a product and influencer of social and economic realities. An increasing integration of information technology with Social Work practices was observed, especially through platforms used in public policies, affecting work methods, communication, and information management. The contributions of information technology were recognized in areas such as Communication and Interaction, Data Management and Surveillance, Training, and Research. The analysis pointed to a variety of perspectives, from criticism of technology's role in capitalism to acknowledgment of its benefits. Therefore, it is concluded that the integration of technology in Social Work brings opportunities for innovation and ethical and practical challenges, requiring a critical approach to align its use with the ethical-political principles of the profession.

  • This paper aims to analyze the incidence of abandonment of black women incarcerated in the Women's Correctional Facility of Salvador - BA, focusing on the process of implementation, maintenance and usefulness of prisons through an intersectional point of view. The abandonment of black women in prison is something recurrent, not only in the Penal Complex that this work analyzes, but in prisons in general. While the factors of class and race play a determining role in mass incarceration, the factor of gender has an additional weight in the abandonment of inmates. When the three factors are combined, they comprise the most incident form of violence to the individual who occupies the lowest place of the social pyramid: the black woman. Thus, this research was structured through a bibliographic review on punitive society; the emergence of punishments and prisons; the maintenance of deprivation of liberty and its effectiveness (or not); the place of the black woman in society and in Brazilian prisons and the situation of abandonment and loneliness experienced by women prisoners and co-authors of this work in the Women's Correctional Facility of Salvador - Bahia. Therefore, the first section brings the history of prisons in the world, America and Brazil. Followed by the second section that brings the reformist and punitive ideology of the society we live in, allied to the statistical data of Brazilian prisons, the profile of the prison population, the effectiveness (or not) of the punitive system and execution of the State's necropolitical policy, is structured from the conditions in which black women live in the process of imprisonment from an intersectional perspective. Finally, in the third section we present the importance of family and the State in social reintegration, the abandonment of these women and the cases of abandonment in the Women's Correctional Facility in Salvador, Bahia. The research considered that the abandonment of the family and the State to women in situation of deprivation of liberty have a direct impact, especially on black women who are crossed by racism, sexism and machismo existing in society, and that often compromises the process of social reintegration.

  • This is literally a disobedient research, both because it is built by intellectualities that are at the margins - of academia and the borders that define humanity - but for its insurgent role of provoking academia, the state, and sociability about the politics of death produced against sexually dissident and gender disobedient people: a colonial project that remains in place. Therefore, the research was built in an effort to discuss the existing crossroads between the Global North and South in the construction of public safety for Brazilian LGBTI+ people. These bodies have historically occupied diverse fields of social representation in various territories, including representations that put them in the place of dehumanization and the periphery of knowledge, being and power, especially when they are also crossed by racist violence or when they are constituted as corps originating from countries that are structured through colonial civilizing projects, such as Brazil. From this historical framework, it is possible to identify the existence of intersections in global geopolitics that produce an experience of gender coloniality and that dictate the rules of construction of safety for LGBTI+ people in the global South. Thus, the research used empirical analysis and literature review to map the place of coloniality in the production of security for the Brazilian LGBTI+ population. As a methodological procedure for the proposed apprehension, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 Brazilian LGBTI+ people, contemplating a significant number of participants self-declared black or indigenous, in the period from December 2022, accessing the interviewees' understanding of safety, feeling of safety, the perception about the ethnic/racial crossing in the violence suffered in the dimension of gender and sexuality, access to public-state organs of Public Safety and experiences with the LGBTI+ Social Movements. This is a research mobilized by the field of studies Queer of Color Critique - or racialized queer critique - influenced by black feminism and post-structuralist studies. The results achieved in this research contour into a visualization of Public Security as a public policy that acts on police and prison forces to replicate violence and death against people of color, deployed by the Western global North. The LGBTI+ population also feels victimized by police abuses and report the feeling of insecurity impacted by the conduct of the Public Security establishment and agents in the country, due to the violations produced by them. Moreover, it is possible to mark the latent LGBTI+phobic violence in Brazil, especially when one is transgender, black, brown or indigenous, as traumas of gender coloniality that remain open. Finally, we identify the epistemic and political disobedience that confront hegemonic knowledge, ethics, and morals and enable security for the LGBTI+ population, given the state gaps in providing protection for sexual and gender dissident bodies.

  • This dissertation has as its central theme, the work of the social worker in times of the COVID19 pandemic: the case of a regional hospital in Pernambuco. In the context, it brings to light the consulaughts of reform and counter-reform of the Brazilian State and its repercussions in the labor market. It is in this context that the consequences of the social issue, the object of social workers' efforts, gain materiality through their interventions and implementation of social policies, among them the guarantee of access to the Unified Health System (SUS). In this sense, the general objective of this piece is to analyze the working and health conditions of social workers working in urgent and emergency care at a regional hospital. Thus, the specific objectives of the research were: to describe the working conditions and protection factors for social workers at a regional hospital; to analyze the duties and competence of the social worker in hospital care and the challenges in coping with COVID-19. The theoretical elaborations that supported the research are based on social theory and critical apprehension of working conditions in a context of structural crisis. The research was developed using a literature review on the working conditions of social workers during the pandemic, and a semi-structured interview, with a script divided into three blocks: socioeconomic and demographic profile of social workers, characteristics of working conditions and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on social workers health, with 11 social workers linked to the hospital unit as research subjects. The results point out that the work of social workers is carried out in a context of insufficient material resources and precarious working conditions, taking into account the institutional and conjuncture developments. We also identified that the work of social workers, in these last three years, gained a certain visibility in the face of sanitary, socioeconomic and political chaos experienced by the population. Even though this view carries charitable characteristics, the socio-occupational space may be gradually conquered. The debate was necessary not only for the scientific collection of Social Work, but also to think about work in the hospital environment, aiming at the importance of rights and access to information for SUS users.

  • The present work has as its theme the care in contemporary society from the perspective of the experience of women in intergenerational families, and based on a feminist approach that considers it fundamental to understand the relationships between class, race, gender and generation, in a dimension of totality, seeking to rescue a Marxist theoretical tradition, but rescued by a bias that updates and invigorates it, highlighting tools that help to understand capitalist society from critical theoretical contributions in the field of feminism, such as the Theory of Social Reproduction, for example, and the dialogue that it can establish with other aspects, such as materialist feminism and black feminism itself. This is because there is still a latent tendency in society for women figures to be responsible for carrying out domestic and care work, which historically has had an impact on their life trajectories and in all phases of it, since today there is an ever changing change greater in the profile of these women, who even when old and inserted in family dynamics marked by intergenerationality - a context raised by different aspects - continue to participate in the care cycle, not only as targets of it, but also agents. Much of this scenario is further aggravated by a neoliberal state model that, over the years, has been exempt from assuming a prominent role with regard to the social protection of these families, creating a culture of self-responsibility and individual entrepreneurship, promoting attacks on rights and social services, while making invisible who are the subjects who have borne the consequences of these dismantling. The research has a bibliographic character, and intends to analyze, based on existing empirical productions, the trends with regard to the materialization of care promoted by families and, in particular, by women, and the extent to which the individuals responsible for this care have been reached or abandoned in terms of social protection, also pointing out possible gaps and categorizing these trends, in order to point out possible analytical depths.

  • The theme of this research is the education of ethnic-racial relations in the curriculum and the object of study is the analysis of the education of ethnic-racial relations in the curricula of postgraduate programs in Social Work in the state of São Paulo. The motivation for choosing the topic, firstly, goes back to my trajectory as a black student on the Social Work course at the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha Valleys (UFVJM) and inclusion in research groups on race relations, the Center for Afro-Brazilian Studies (NEAB), secondly, because I agree with the notion that postgraduate studies are a privileged locus for the production of knowledge and a reference space for training researchers and new teachers. This research understands ethnicracial relations education as a concept that should run through all professional training, from the design of programs, their syllabuses and curricular components, to research, extension activities and study groups. Its general objective is to analyze the presence of ethnic-racial relations education in the curriculum of postgraduate courses in Social Work in the state of São Paulo, as recommended by the LDB, and its specific objectives are: a) discuss Brazilian sociohistorical formation and race relations in Brazil b) examine the subjects and their syllabi, whether compulsory or optional in the postgraduate programs in Social Work at PUC-SP, UNESP-FRANCA and UNIFESP, to identify whether and how education on ethnic-racial relations appears; c) identify the number of theses and dissertations produced in the selected programs on the ethnic-racial theme in the last 10 years between 2010 and 2020. After the introduction, the second chapter deals with race relations and socio-historical formation in Brazil. The third deals with ethnic-racial education and its implications for the curriculum. The fourth discusses how education on ethnic-racial relations has been processed in postgraduate courses in social work and the path we have taken towards an anti-racist education. The study was carried out based on an analysis of the lines of research, disciplines and syllabuses of the postgraduate courses in Social Work in the state of São Paulo (PUC-SP, UNESP-FRANCA and UNIFESP), using a qualitative and quantitative approach, based on a critical and comprehensiv e reading of the data collected, using Roque Moraes' discursive textual analysis, as it moves between two established forms of analysis in qualitative research, which are content analysis and discourse analysis. The survey identified a total of 8 theses and 13 dissertations in the above period and reveals that although we are still a long way from what we are aiming for in terms of knowledge production in the PPG'S on the subject, the ethnic-racial issue has progressively become an interest and object of study for these researchers. As for the disciplines, the study shows that they are mostly optional, they are not central to the respective curricula, where they condition a diverse amount on the ethnic-racial issue, compressing it to fit everything on the subject, an issue that we consider to be dense and complex to be compressed into a single discipline, considering that the issue does not appear in a transversal way in the other disciplines of the programs.

  • The present work is the product of the author's concerns accumulated over more than eight years of practicing the profession of social worker in the Social Assistance Policy. These concerns culminated in this research, which has the following general objective:To systematize and analyze the work of the social worker at the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (CREAS) - Bonocô in Salvador, Bahia. And the following specific objectives: To identify how the CREAS - Bonocô is structured, taking as a parameter what is recommended in the SUAS typology and the Basic Operational Norm for Human Resources of the Unified Social Assistance System (NOB/RH/SUAS); To identify and analyze the main demands placed on the social worker in question, identifying and analyzing the professional responses presented by this social worker at the CREAS - Bonocô in Salvador, Bahia; To analyze the follow-up of socio-educators, seeking to understand whether working conditions interfere in this follow-up; To describe how the social worker thinks about the focus of her work and the results of her work, relating them to the focus and results of the collective work of the unit. The dissertation has as its main categories of foundation and analysis the categories: Work and its transformations, Work and Social Work, Social Assistance Policy with emphasis on the work of the social worker in this policy, in addition to fundamental concepts for the construction of this work, such as Social Issue, precariousness and working conditions, and the role of CREAS in social assistance policy. To this end, we chose to conduct a qualitative field research through the systematization of experience and used the field diary as the basis for data collection, as well as the institutional documents produced by the author while a social worker at the CREAS in question. We also carried out the characterization of the CREAS - Bonocô, so that it was possible to verify that its physical structure and composition of human and material resources are not in accordance with what is recommended in the SUAS Typology and the NOB/RH/SUAS, as well as it was possible to verify that this fact directly interferes in the work of the social worker in question and impacts on the ineffectiveness of the service.

  • This dissertation presents the results of a study whose main objective is to analyze the perceptions of christian women attending at the Women's Service Reference Center – CRAM in Itabuna-BA about religion’s influence in combating domestic violence. Therefore, we seek answers to the following question: in what ways do Protestant religions interfere in combating domestic violence against women? As a theoretical basis, this research is based on significant studies on Gender, from the perspective of authors such as Jean Scott, Helleieth Saffioti, Flávia Biroli, and, specifically, it also discusses the intersection between Gender, Religion and Domestic Violence, with studies by Claudia Ritz, Maria José Nunes, Allyne Farinha, among others. Regarding methodology, this is exploratory research, with a qualitative approach. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were carried out with eight christian women who have been monitored since 2017 by the Women's Service Reference Center (CRAM) in Itabuna - Bahia. In general, it was found, through the interviews, that the women had a diverse profile; Only one of them is still married, still vulnerable to continuing to be a victim of domestic violence. The results also highlight difficulties faced in breaking the cycle of violence. To achieve this, CRAM, in collaboration with the protection network, plays an essential role in guaranteeing rights of women who need to break this cycle of abuse, especially with effective spread of information, including the essential procedure and humanized care. The interviews confirm what scientific studies already warn about the fact that domestic violence can harm cognitive and emotional development of children, negatively affecting their self-esteem, social and affective skills. The interviews also reveal that religious leaders often devalue, condemn and reaffirm women's submissive position in society, based on justifications in biblical scriptures, to reinforce obedience, passivity and submission; This corroborates the maintenance of violence suffered. Finally, it became clear that, although the majority of christian women present a paradoxical discourse that religion helped them to escape the cycle of violence and, consequently, say that their faith in God freed them from violence, an intimate and subjective feeling, beyond the intervention of the religious institution, the participants broke with alienating and limiting indoctrinations by seeking support from the protection network, especially CRAM. Regarding criticism of monitoring in the protection network, one of the interviewees warned us about the fragility of the Emergency Protective Procedure (M.P.U.) and the lack of adequate resources in women's shelters, such as daycare centers and activities for children. This research can serve as a basis for future research and creation of public policies.

  • Violence is a public health issue, and to size this problem, the Ministry of Health recommends compulsory notification of violence. It acts as a means of epidemiological control, being a fundamental mechanism for epidemiological surveillance and the definition of public policies for prevention and intervention. However, health services experience the phenomenon of underreporting of situations of violence, especially primary health care facilities. The present study investigated the challenges faced by the professionals of these services, aiming to know the difficulties that lead to the low number of notifications in this sector compared to the other establishments that make up the health system. In order to unseethis problem, a bibliographic research mediated by an integrative review of literature of qualitative nature and exploratory character was undertaken, seeking to answer the question: "What obstacles influence the low number of compulsory notification of violence in primary health care/primary health care services?". The survey of the studies was carried out in the catalogue of theses and dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of higher education personnel - CAPES. Twenty-two dissertations were found for analysis, after the survey of the studies, numerous readings of the material were undertaken and a data collection instrument was completed to consolidate the findings of the investigation based on Bardin's content analysis. The research etators aimed to understand the phenomenon of notification of violence in the daily routine of primary care services. With this, it is possible to infer through the analysis of these studies that there is a pattern with a view to the generalization of the daily life of these services that leads to the non-compulsory notification of violence. Emerging four macro categories of analysis that consolidated the debate in this study: Health Education, Intersectoriality, Fear and Precariousness of work. The research showed how complex it is to reflect on the theme of non-notification of violence and the challenges that are addressed in this scenario, this analysis is to think about these dimensions in an attempt to progress in this debate reflecting how these issues affect this process.

  • The present work aims to analyze how inequalities of race, gender and class impact the need for institutional care for black children and adolescents. The institutional reception of black children is certainly not something recent, it had its birth in colonial Brazil and since then it clearly demarcates the issue of race, gender and class, insofar as they are, historically, children of black and poor women who are removed from the their homes. The onslaught in the process of destitution of the humanity of black women has been going on since the slavery era and is operationalized by numerous mechanisms, and here we consider that the removal of their children is another one of them. The research was developed from the bibliographic review on racial relations in Brazil, on the institutional reception of children and adolescents, highlighting the social public policies accessed - or not - by black women and in the light of Sheila's life trajectory, participant of this study. Thus, life history was chosen as a data collection technique, for conceiving it as the most adequate to the research purposes and to the epistemological proposal that crosses all its development. To do so, we take as a starting point the history of struggles and resistance of black women in favor of their freedom and that of theirs, as well as the struggle for their right to motherhood. We continue to historicize the institutional reception of black children and adolescents, hoping to identify which issues from the past still persist and reflect in the present in the lives of black children and adolescents, as well as their families. Finally, in the last chapter, we present the life story of the participant of this study, in order to make her story visible as a black woman who had children in institutional care in the city of Salvador/BA and experienced all the "bad luck" of being born. woman, black and poor. Data analysis was performed using the technique of Discourse Analysis (AD), from the perspective of the sociology of absences and emergencies by Boaventura Santos (2010). As a result of the research, we found that the historical condition of subordination in which black Brazilian women were placed, reflects on their living conditions, as in the case of Sheila, and is intrinsically linked to the removal of their children from their coexistence today, as well as it was once. We also identified that black women figure in the worst rates of access to public policies - health, education, employment and income, housing, basic sanitation - due to racism and sexism that perversely operate on their lives, which directly affects their protective capacity. in relation to their children. On the other hand, we also find records of the historical and constant struggle of black women for freedom and better living conditions, as evidenced by the life story of the research participant.

  • The National Student Assistance Program (PNAES) was created in 2010 and aimed to warranty the permanence of undergraduate students in Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES), particularly those in socioeconomic vulnerability, as a way of reducing inequalities and retention and school evasion in higher education. A program that gained notoriety and importance, given the expansion of vacancies in IFES that took place from 2007 onwards, was created with the Support Program for Restructuring and Expansion Plans of Federal Universities (REUNI). At the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), student assistance actions are intertwined with the history of the university itself. They have existed since the foundation of the institution in the 1940s. At the same time, increasingly affected by the advance of the neoliberal agenda and by the context of the economic crisis that, inevitably, has reflected on it is coverage and daily challenged social workers, who are on the front lineof the operationalization of aid and benefit of student assistance at the University. The dissertation presented here has as it is central theme the work of the social worker in the made possible of student assistance, with the locus the Pro-Rectory of Affirmative Actions and Student Assistance of the Federal University of Bahia (PROAE/UFBA), the institution responsible for the execution of the assistance actions for undergraduate students at the university. In this regard, the work has like objective to evince how the work of social workers in the Pro-Rectory of Affirmative Actions and Student Assistance (PROAE) made possible student assistance at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in the period between 2012 and 2019, in addition, to contextualize the reform and counter-reform movements of the Brazilian State and their repercussions on the labor market and social policies; to evince the work of the social worker is facing the social issue in the country; to introduce the historical trajectory of student assistance in Brazil and at UFBA; and to describe how the work of the social worker makes access to student assistance possible. The methodology adopted here is descriptive and quantitative and qualitative. Three work methods were used for it is accomplishment: bibliographic research, documental research, and content analysis, where the analyzes were carried out based on the dialectics perspective. It is concluded that, despite the relevance and representativeness of the Investigative Dimension (25,9 %) of professional work in the made possible student assistance actions – compared to the Social Issue Approach (18,5%) and Socioeducational (11,1%) – the Barriers to student assistance Management Dimension (44,4%) had the most significant impact on the work of the social worker, with emphasis on the “Financial Resources” category, given that the budgetary limitation prevents a greater coverage of PNAES actions and evince the challenges of guarantee the conditions of
permanence of the federal public university. Considering the worrying economic and social indicators that historically characterize the Northeast region of the country, in the state of Bahia – strongly affected by the high rates of unemployment, poverty, informality, and low schooling – the precarious coverage of student assistance is a preponderant major for the permanence of the Bahian students at UFBA.

  • The current study aims to analyze the presence of the categories race and gender in the academic productions of the Brazilian Social Service concerning the prison system between 2000 and 2019, in addition to elaborating a collaborative autoethnographic study with a young black woman from her experience with the prison system. In the last 20 years the number of incarcerated black women has increased exponentially throughout the Brazilian territory, however it is perceived the little production of Social Service facing this expression of the social issue and its determinants as it was evidenced during the research. To carry out the research, we used the triangulation method for allowing the application of multimethods: bibliographical, quantitative, qualitative, and collaborative autoenographic studies, thus offering a greater possibility of understanding the complex reality under study. In this way, the first chapter presents, from the bibliographical review, elements that contribute to understanding the process of struggle and (re) existence of black women during the slavery period and after the abolition, including their decisive participation in the insurgencies for the end of slavery. The second chapter presents the state of the art of Social Work academic productions published in journals of the area available online between the years 2000 - 2019 and dissertations and theses available on the Sucupira/ CAPES platform between 2014-2019, and the third chapter presents a collaborative autoethnographic study with a young black woman who went through the prison system. As results, we identified the consequences of the marginalization of the racial issue since the professional training of social workers. The incipient scientific production of Social Work about the prison system and the scarce approach of the categories race and gender in the research works referring to the prison system in the last twenty years. The collaborative autoethnography with a young black woman who lived the experience of the prison system revealed the continuity of the processes of struggle and (re) existence as a socio-historical reflection of a capitalist, racist, patriarchal, cisheteronormative society.

  • Here you will find thinking in the singular and plural. I write in articulation with theories, authorial poetry and individual/collective experiences of black transvestites, living in Salvador - Bahia. I reaffirm their places as co-authors, narrators of experiences of their life trajectories. This is a conversation among black, trans, cis, and transvestite women, in an activist-intellectual movement in favor of decolonization of knowledge, via what I call Words - Razor-Sweetness that Sets Free. It is a study anchored in Black Feminist and Transfeminist Social Thought of the Quilombola Amefrican intellectuals Maria Beatriz Nascimento, Lélia Gonzalez and Thiffany Odara, in a theoretical-methodological-political-affective-symbolic ciranda with other references, whose perspectives are convergent. My activist-intellectual, personal, and professional trajectory occupies a social place of speech, located in an intentionally political perspective, situated by the different oppressive intersections, exponentially determined by race, gender, and class, given the denial and disallowance of the intellectual dimension of black people, mainly, black women, cut by academic epistemicide. To reference these places is also to demarcate my ethical, political, professional, and symbolic commitment in the context of the struggle against racist transphobia that affects black trans women, the transvestites, and cis women, in ways that approach and distance themselves, considering our specificities. From this place I know, recognize, and problematize cisgenerity as a structure that materializes the logic of necropolitics in the lives of non-cis people, with the direction of DESeducating and disobey pedagogies that prevent the construction of spaces that are for all people, aligned with the political and pedagogical legacy of individual and collective movements, led by black trans and cis Brazilian women. The methodological path goes through a survey and bibliographical study, systematization of the theoretical framework organized by chapters and axes crossed by the intersectional perspective, articulated with semi-structured virtual interviews with the co-authors. The political-cultural-ideological concepts of Amefricanity, Quilombo and Travestilizing education are located here as epistemological and methodological tools to understand the political and pedagogical character of the potency of black transvestites. The organization of references relies on the practice of inventorying, being a study that aims to highlight, enhance and strengthen the struggles led by contemporary black transvestites, showing that although they are targets of violence and denial of fundamental rights, they undertake (R)existences from their own body-territory and to politically influence public policies and daily social relations are configured as purposes that are individual and collective, towards the guarantee of their rights and recognition of their condition of humanity.

  • Workers' health, from a critical theoretical perspective of understanding work in capitalist society, is understood as a phenomenon resulting from the relationship between the health of individuals who work and the conditions in which this work is carried out. In this sense, this relationship is above all social, since within the framework of society governed by the capitalist mode of production, working conditions are determined by the socio-historical specificities of this material and social mode of production. As working conditions participate in a process of social determination of workers' health, reflection on the health of public service workers, in the various institutions of direct and indirect administration of the state apparatus, is conditioned to the analysis of the repercussions of the current standard of production of the capitalist way of producing on the administrative machine of the State. This theoretical perspective guides the research object of this dissertation, limited to the investigation on how the relations between work and the health of workers in the direct and indirect administration of services that make up the structure of the state machine in Brazil are addressed/presented in scientific productions. To achieve this research objective, we opted for a Bibliographic Review Research with a methodological strategy of Integrative Review in the journals indexed in the databases: Lilacs and PubMed, in the time interval between 2010 and 2020. The research findings pointed to evidence on working conditions correlated with the health-care-illness processes of public service workers. With special emphasis on the prevalence of illness among public service workers in the field of mental health, the precariousness of working conditions due to productive restructuring and the tendency to adapt working conditions to the logic of flexibility, the Administrative Reform of the Brazilian State as an instrument which makes it possible to determine the logic of flexibility on work in the public service, co-opting the structure and power of the State for the interests of capitalism.

  • This dissertation deals with the work of social workers in the context of student assistance at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). The general objective was to get to know the work of social workers during the institution's student stay. Therefore, the specific objectives of the research were: to characterize the student assistance promoted by UFBA; describe the professional profile of social workers who work in student assistance at the University; analyze the working conditions of social workers in the institution's student assistance and identify and analyze the requests, demands and professional responses of social workers in student assistance at UFBA. The theoretical elaborations that supported the study are based on critical social theory to unveil the constitutive elements of the work process that structures capitalist society, marked by social inequalities and its strategies for maintaining the current order. The locus of the research was the Dean of Affirmative Actions and Student Assistance (PROAE), responsible for developing student assistance and affirmative actions that are part of UFBA, with facilities in the municipalities of Camaçari, Salvador and Vitória da Conquista. As for the methodology, the study was based on a bibliographic survey, document analysis and empirical research, through the application of a questionnaire covering 43 questions related to the professional profile, to working conditions and to professional requests, demands and responses, having as research subjects 13 social workers linked to the Dean of Affirmative Actions and Student Assistance. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Institute of Psychology. The survey results show that the work of social workers at PROAE consists of distributing resources from the National Student Assistance Program (PNAES). In this way, the professionals predominantly carry out activities related to the selection processes for students' access to the Program's actions, such as: socioeconomic studies, dissemination, guidance, social monitoring, among other activities related to the demand for student assistance. It is concluded that the work of social workers at PROAE is carried out in a context of insufficiency of human, material and financial resources.

  • This study aims to analyze, in its quantitative and qualitative aspects, the academic-scientific elaborations on the work of social workers in the area of Mental Health, in the production of the Brazilian Social Service between the years 2010 and 2021; in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and in the academic-scientific journals of Social Work. We sought to map the adopted conceptions about mental health, systematize the main manifestations of the social issue presented in this field, as well as the professional activities performed by the social worker, and the current challenges for the profession. The theoretical-methodological perspective of Marilda Iamamoto was adopted in this work to guide the central axis of the object of analysis: the work of the social worker. This work was divided into four chapters. The first chapter proposed to reconstruct the history of Mental Health in Brazil, in order to glimpse how care in Mental Health has undergone transformations over the years, by the State, from the colonial phase to the present day. The current setbacks faced in the field of Mental Health in the country were analyzed, constituting a “counter-reform” to the achievements arising from the Psychiatric Reform process. In the second chapter, the proposed objective was to investigate the genesis of Social Work in the country, as well as the social meaning of the profession in Brazilian capitalist society. Subsequently, in the third chapter, it was necessary to situate the insertion of Social Work in the field of Mental Health, to know the processes that social workers are involved in, as well as to find out about the living conditions of users of the Mental Health Policy in Brazil. The fourth chapter referred to the analysis and problematization of data collection. The methodological path was through a bibliographic survey and documental research. The analysis method for the study is the critical-dialectical one, supported by the quantitative-qualitative approach. The results show that the progress of a social policy is not linear, thus passing through nuances, sometimes of advances or of dismantling, therefore the achievements achieved through the Psychiatric Reform must be preserved, recognizing that the continuation or stagnation of these principles are objects of disputes of interests in different corporate projects. With regard to Social Work in Mental Health, it is concluded that the Psychiatric Reform Movement and the Social Work Recognition Movement occurred in close contexts and brought numerous advances to both sectors. Regarding the work of social workers in Mental Health, the literature expresses that it began with psychologizing characteristics, hierarchized among professions inherent to “psi” knowledge, and its legitimacy and recognition as interdisciplinary technical knowledge is gradually being conquered. There are countless challenges for the profession in this field, passing through the scenario of globalization and productive restructuring, to the institutional limits experienced daily. It is concluded that this is an insufficiently discussed topic and its debate is necessary not only for the scientific collection of Social Work, but also for thinking about Network work in an articulated and decentralized way, valuing the specific potential of each knowledge.
