  • Technological development and broad access to information have become an obstacle in today's society, due to the volume of information produced and the limited time available for accessing and retrieving this content. The excess of information associated with ease of access accompanies individuals with concerns, uncertainties and frustrations. Information anxiety is caused by the gap that exists when information does not reveal enough to us to understand. The secretarial profession has been transformed over the years, following the development and complexities of society. These transformations require professionals capable of facing this new reality. From the understanding of information anxiety engendered in human informational behavior, aiming at strategic and effective performance in the performance of the UFBA Executive Secretariat, the following question arises: how informational anxiety influences the informational behavior of UFBA Executive Secretariat professionals in the fulfillment of their work activities? To answer the question at hand, the main objective of this research was structured: to evaluate how information anxiety influences the information behavior of Executive Secretariat professionals within the scope of university institutions; the secondary objectives correspond to: (a) mapping the activities carried out by the professionals analyzed and the possible factors that interfere with work performance; (b) categorize elements of information anxiety associated with the information behavior of Executive Secretariat professionals; (c) identify behavioral strategies for coping with informational anxiety among Executive Secretaries. The theoretical framework contributed with the foundations for answering the starting question, in addition to supporting the entire proposed argument. To meet the determined objectives, the methodological procedures section presented the research design, as well as the data collection techniques and instrument (questionnaire), with a descriptive research level and monographic procedure method (case study). The results showed that: the executive secretarial professionals investigated have difficulty searching and locating information in the institution due to the excess of information they receive, resulting in cognitive overload and lack of focus on essential tasks; present symptoms and signs of informational anxiety caused, especially by the excess of information demanded by their work activities; informational anxiety makes decision-making difficult, leading to hesitations, insecurities and postponements; present coping strategies in their work environment to deal with anxiety. Therefore, it was concluded that these unfavorable impacts of anxiety on the information behavior of secretaries have consequences for the performance and efficiency of work activities at the university institution.

  • This study records the history of the creation of Public Libraries in each of the 417 municipalities in the state of Bahia. Taking into account the year of creation and the legislation that authorized its operation, the research is carried out by raising data that contribute to identifying the existing public policies in Brazil aimed at the creation of municipal public libraries. A timeline and mapping of the year of creation of each municipal public library created in Bahia was elaborated, in addition to rescuing the legislation that created these libraries. Research on the subject was considered necessary, since public libraries play a fundamental role in the formation of Bahian and Brazilian society and the analyzed data contributed to understanding the historical and political framework of public libraries in the state of Bahia. The methodological procedures adopted for data collection were based on bibliographical and documental research, which took into account the contents published in books and articles from scientific journals, available in digital and printed format, which fundamentally deal with BP. Documents were consulted that reveal information about the date and legislation of the creation of BP in Bahian municipalities, consulting primary and secondary sources. Since the primary sources were examined in person at the Archive of the Pedro Calmon Foundation (FPC), at the Library of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia, at the Geographical and Historical Institute of Bahia and at the Periodicals Sector of the Public Library of Bahia, and remotely in the Archive of the National Library Foundation and in the archive of the Mário de Andrade Library. In-person surveys were conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, following all WHO-recommended safety protocols. As for secondary sources, the consultation took place through access to information available on the internet, such as the Statistical Yearbooks of Brazil, published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Public Libraries Guide, published by the National Book Institute ( INL). As a result, we have the history of the creation of public libraries in Bahia with the documents related to their operating permits.

  • The use of information and communication technologies has been increasingly encompassing academic activities, as advances result in the adoption of computerized systems, which are configured as innovations in management and pedagogical activities. The SIGAA - Integrated System of Management of Academic Activities was developed by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in order to manage processes related to the academic area. In the context of the Federal University of Bahia - UFBA, the academic community is in constant use and dissemination of information through SIGAA which, through a technical cooperation term, started to be implemented at UFBA, from 2019. This study aims to investigate the impacts of SIGAA on the infocommunication skills of technical-administrative staff in the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs in Health at the Federal University of Bahia. It is methodologically constituted as a study of multiple cases with a qualitative approach, through participant observation, together with document analysis and the application of questionnaires. It selects as research subjects the technical-administrative ones who are linked to the coordination and administrative management of the mentioned Graduate Programs. As a result, it shows that the use of SIGAA in the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate courses in Health/UFBA added new skills to users, improved the workflow, processes, access and use of information in carrying out administrative academic activities, provides mobility, accessibility as it is a remotely accessed system, contributes to the digital preservation of the memory of Graduate Programs and that the changes resulting from the use of the system, implied by innovation, made possible advances in the management of the infocommunication processes linked to it.

  • The interweaving of literary narratives in the works of Flávio Tavares, involving the identity traits of the people of Paraíba and the Artist himself, as well as the reading and cultural mediation activities carried out by him is the theme of this work. From this perspective, this research aimed to highlight the influences of literary narratives from Paraíba on Flávio Tavares' visual arts and how such influences reflect on the interaction and cultural recognition of his audience. The interview technique was carried out to identify to what extent the works of Flávio Tavares, influenced by literary narratives, show his identity and memorialist constitution and demonstrate his protagonist role. The documentary analysis of the works sought to map the literary narratives and sociocultural traits that influence the work of Flávio Tavares. Questionnaires were also applied to those who know the works of this Artist to verify if the activities of reading mediation and cultural mediation carried out by Flávio Tavares, through his works, influence his readers, enabling the recognition of their cultural traits. As a result, it was observed that Flávio Tavares promotes the intertwining between the canvases and panels he produces with literature, especially the ones produced by writers from Paraíba, which presents traces of the identity of the Northeastern people of Brazil. It was found that making use of visual arts, the aforementioned Artist, allows subjects to have access to the art devices, expanding the appropriation of information that is recorded beyond written language, which, in many cases, leaves aside subjects who do not have mastery of that language. In this way, Flávio Tavares works by enhancing the expansion of the visual narrative, which informs and transforms the subjects' perceptions, supporting them in the act of critical reading about their reality and favoring the achievement of a protagonist posture.

  • This study verified the informational behavior of the Undergraduate Course Coordinators, in the face-to-face modality, at the State University of Bahia, considering the importance of the role played by these managers in the academic-administrative management of the collegiate bodies of the course to which they are linked. The theoretical framework presented conceptualizes the themes Information, Informational Behavior, Need, Search and Use. Informational behavior is one of the subareas of Information Science and studies the way people deal with information when faced with informational needs. Apparently, there is a gap between the information made available by UNEB for these coordinators to carry out their activities and the search for such content by these subjects. Considering these preliminary observations, we propose in this research the following guiding question: How does the informational behavior of the coordinators of the presential undergraduate courses at the State University of Bahia (UNEB) interfere in their academic-administrative management activities? The proposed general objective was to verify the informational behavior of undergraduate collegiate coordinators. To achieve the general objective, specific objectives were outlined, namely: 1. Identify possible regulations for the coordination of the course collegiate that guide the activities of the course collegiate coordinators; 2. Describe the profile of collegiate coordinators of face-to-face undergraduate courses; 3. Understand the informational needs of these coordinators within the process of searching and using information. Then, an applied research was carried out, with a descriptive purpose and a quantitative and qualitative approach, in which 23 technical administrative servants were interviewed and whose material was interpreted from the content analysis proposed by Bardin (1977), with the support of the Iramuteq software. The results showed that the coordinators feel a clear need for information, mainly related to normative and practical aspects. They regularly seek reliable and updated information, using sources such as Resolutions and the institution's General Regulations. The information is perceived as useful to base decisions, develop the work environment, improve the professional trajectory.

  • This study focuses on the Information Regimes in their relationship with the social contexts in which they are inserted, acting in a dominant way to disseminate information and to influence society according to the ideas they convey. In this context, information is conceived in its role of reducing uncertainty, while disinformation can be understood through the repercussion of various terms, among which are fake news, responsible for uniting false content and the intentionality of those who disseminate it, which undermines trust in formal institutions of knowledge. Thus gained strength the QAnon conspiracy theory. Therefore, the theme of this research is disinformation and the thematic focus is disinformation on the Internet through Information Regimes, taking QAnon as an example, focusing on the fake news it disseminates. The established objective was to characterize QAnon as an Information Regime that disseminates misinformation with informational consequences for society. As for the methodology, it is an exploratory-descriptive research, using documentary research as a procedure, with a case study. The approach is qualitative and the technique used is content analysis with non-participant observation. As an analysis of the results, it shows how the user “Q” uses his network of followersto spread false information. It ends by presenting how QAnon modeled an Information Regime based on dogmatism. The themes addressed by him are organized thematically and from there the pointsthat the user “Q” sought to reach were inferred.

  • The dissertation presents the study of productions that deal with applications, implications and challenges related to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in tutoring in Distance Education (DE). Its theme is the use and possibilities of AI in distance learning tutoring. The research question was: what are the perspectives, applications and implications of AI in the context of distance learning tutoring, from the perspective of Information Science (IS)? The objective is to identify IS perspectives, applications, implications and challenges inherent to artificial intelligence aimed at the context of distance learning tutoring. To this end, the methodology was a literature review, based on the following databases: GT-8 (Information and Technology) from Enancib, Brapci and Web of Science. The main results indicate that the national bases did not record significant results. In the Web of Science, 32 articles were registered that dialogue with the research question. The retrieved articles were subdivided for analysis into four categories: Artificial Intelligence, Distance Education, Tutoring and Others. Most of them present incipient technological solutions to intelligently support the practice of educational tutoring, focused on the effective use of available or predictive information. As a conclusion, the following consideration was obtained from this study: several uses of intelligent tutoring systems were recorded in the articles, however they demonstrate an incipient application of AI, given the technical possibilities envisioned by other authors, based on the findings of this research, both related to support regarding the replacement of human guardians. The speed of investigation and dissemination of Information Science cannot keep up with the speed of development/advancement of Artificial Intelligence in several areas, including those related to knowledge workers.

  • The incessant advance of information technology has been promoting changes in the habits of people, society, and organizations. The development of technological devices has made possible a significant progress and multiplication of new facilitating tools for the access and production of knowledge, especially with regard to information systems. In this sense, technological innovations influence the behavior of individuals and the profile of public and private institutions, which are forced to modernize and redesign their processes. Therefore, the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) decided to join the Integrated System of Assets and Contract Administration (SIPAC) with the promise of integrating the middle activities in order to optimize the management of administrative routines in its various sectors in order to promote the satisfaction of the university community and the surrounding society. Thus, the present dissertation aimed to evaluate how the servers and outsourced workers of the Federal University of Bahia structure the behavior of information search made available by SIPAC, oriented to the performance of administrative activities of the Pro-Rectory of Administration (PROAD) of that institution. The focus of this study is based on understanding the informational behavior of the cognizant subject while searching for the information he needs at a given moment and context (organizational environment) in the use of computerized information systems, that is, to analyze how mental representations are reflected to technology. The methodological design comprises a monographic study of a descriptive nature, using a predominantly qualitative approach, by extracting data from the application of a questionnaire to a sample of 112 people among civil servants and outsourced workers. The current study is considered relevant within the university, as it is expected that from the analysis of the behavioral aspects of the subjects in the use of SIPAC, it will be possible to outline strategies based on the difficulties encountered by the respondents in obtaining the necessary information, and thus create possibilities for improving the quality of the services provided, contribute to the improvement of the management information system to increasingly meet the needs of these subjects, enable new dialogues and future investigations in the field of Information Science and provide subsidies for user studies in digital information environments. Based on the survey results, it was found that participants consider their co-workers as the main source of information. In addition, the slowness of the SIPAC was identified as the biggest difficulty faced when searching for information, and there was a clear dissatisfaction with the service center that provides support for SIPAC. The data presented also allowed us to identify the need to conduct new training for SIPAC, conduct satisfaction surveys, train the servers in ICT, improve technical support for SIPAC and analyze the source code and the architecture of the database.

  • This study is focused on the representation of the library on Postgraduate Programs in Information Science (PPIS) in Brazil, regarding the historical and institutional relations between Library Science and Information Science. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the incidence of the term library on thesis and dissertations on PPISs in Brazil from 2018 to 2022. In order to elaborate the sample, it was chosen the PPIS with the highest rate, by region in Brazil. Five PPIS were selected from the following Higher Education Institutions (HEI): UNB, UFPA, UFBA, UNESP e UFSC. 373 dissertations and 233 thesis were analyzed, in a total of 606 publications, with the purpose of identifying the term library in titles, keywords and abstracts. The research resulted in 74 publications, such as 50 dissertations and 24 thesis. For data analysis it was applied Bardin’s method for Content Analysis, obtaining 74 terms in search fields, 58 terms related to the frequency of keywords and twelve theme categories: Library’s typologies (university, school, public, digital, community, specialized and prisons), library in general, library management, mediation of information and reading, information representation and study of users. The results reveal that seven in twelve categories correspond to library's typologies, with the predominance of university library, which had 32 mentions in keywords, suggesting that the authors may work on this kind of library. Besides the low incidence of the term library on PPIS thesis and dissertations, It was observed aspects related to the suppression or absence of terms representing Library Science/Library in the Work Groups (WG) of ANCIB, on the fields and PPIS research lines, as well on the Capes knowledge area table. This absence presupposes a potential invisibility of this field of knowledge and institution. Through the results, this study reveals the term library needs to appear more on the publications, in order to participate in the Postgraduate Programs in Information Science discussions in Brazil.

  • The modern era has witnessed a significant shift in social norms, accompanied by the rapid advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). These transformations have had a profound impact on contemporary society, particularly in the way people conduct information searches. To meet the demands of the current 'information age', individuals must possess a level of expertise and continuous training, which requires reflection on traditional approaches to education. The present research aimed to verify the search and information use behavior of undergraduate students from the Department of Life Sciences (DCV) and the Department of Exact and Earth Sciences (DCET) at the Salvador campus of the State University of Bahia (UNEB), highlighting the impact of new technologies on this behavior. As theoretical background, a specific literature review on search behavior was conducted to determine parameters for data collection among the surveyed students. This research presents the monographic procedure method (case study); the questionnaire was used as the main data collection instrument, remotely administered through an electronic form for respondents. Descriptive statistical analysis of variables was performed based on responses.

  • In the period from 2019 to 2021, the world was intensely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. As a consequence, the temporary stoppage of sectors considered non-essential affected libraries. With the advancement of vaccination, negotiations were observed for the resumption of face-to-face activities in many Brazilian federal universities. Thus, in this pandemic context, the following starting question was established: How did university libraries guide their decisions towards the safe return of their activities in person? An attempt was made to answer that question, through the following general objective: To situate how university libraries were represented in the biosafety protocols of Brazilian federal public universities for the safe return of their face-to-face activities. For its realization, the following specific objectives were listed: i. Map in the National Register of Courses and Institutions of Higher Education the public federal universities, which maintain university libraries; ii. Identify, among public federal universities, which ones have biosafety protocols that include content related to the return of university libraries; iii. Characterize the biosecurity protocols adopted by federal university libraries for the return of activities in the context of the pandemic; iv. Find out how university libraries are included in biosafety protocols and what is their participation in the document construction process. As for the methodological path, it is a research of an applied nature, with a quali-quantitative approach; considering the objectives, this is an exploratory study, based on documentary research, developed by consulting the documents involved in the process of resuming face-to-face activities of the analyzed university libraries: the biosafety protocols; as a technique and procedure, a questionnaire was developed and applied to the population consisting of librarians from 68 federal public universities. Data analysis revealed that of the 68 universities studied, 23 dedicated chapters or sections to their libraries in their biosafety protocols; 19 of them did not mention their libraries in their protocols; and, finally, in 24 of them the word library is only mentioned as another common area of the university, without, however, taking into account its particularities and needs; 21.7% of Central Libraries directors are unaware of the existence of the biosafety protocol created by the MEC and the same percentage created their own protocols for their libraries. The completion of this study points to the need for better communication between MEC and federal universities, as well as between them and libraries

  • The dissertation addresses the modulation of behavior through surveillance and data monitoring, focusing on the News Feed of Facebook's digital platform. The research problem revolves around the capitalist practices of algorithmic modulation for control and information filtering, contextualized within the ongoing process of establishing a specific information regime within the studied platform. The general objective is to analyze the practices of algorithmic modulation and information filtering in the constitution of an information regime on Facebook. The specific objectives are to discuss how the platform's algorithmic systems function and their effects, as well as to explore algorithmic modulation and the phenomenon of the "filter bubble" based on the concept of an information regime. Using documentary and bibliographic methods, techniques, and procedures, the research, presented as exploratory in nature, employs Latour's Actor-Network Theory to observe the object and phenomenon of study from a socio-technical perspective. The identified results demonstrate, across technical, informational, and socio-technical dimensions of analysis regarding the platform's patents, its intention to respectively operationalize algorithmic mediation and modulation actions on its users, establish filters and bubbles in the subject-information relationship, and establish and maintain a specific information regime that modulates behaviors in pursuit of a voracious logic of surveillance capitalism. In conclusion, it is evident that the algorithmic modulation performed on the Facebook News Feed significantly contributes to the establishment of a specific information regime based on the appropriation of user data for behavior modulation and other purposes.

  • Information occupies a prominent position in the configuration of contemporary society, as it is used as a resource that enables the achievement of the objectives of social groups, whether from an individual or collective perspective, such as organizations. In this sense, it is essential to produce studies and reflections that enable the use of information at the highest levels, highlighting the strategic power it possesses. Thus, this study was developed within the scope of Information Science, using the criteria of Information Management to analyze the use of information in the Human Resources sector of the Municipality of Camaçari - Bahia, called Personnel Payment Coordination, with the objective of I study the function of granting rights and advantages to public servants. Considering the characteristics of the research universe, a Public Administration institution, in correlation with the knowledge of Information Science, the foundations of Niklas Luhmann's Systemic Theory are used, in order to identify the levels of complexity of the body, allowing to list the factors that prevent the adoption of Information Management criteria to fulfill their respective responsibilities. To achieve the objectives, data were collected through questionnaire and observation techniques with analysts and managers from the Personnel Payment Coordination. Data analysis was performed descriptively based on Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis criteria. The results proved that the actions implemented in relation to information are insufficient to guarantee the adequate treatment of this resource, which is a support for the development of sectoral functions. Likewise, it highlighted that the body is characterized as a complex system, as its functioning depends on the combination of political, administrative, legal and human factors. As an alternative for the adequate treatment of information, the suggestion was the implementation of an institutional information policy with a view to adopting Information Management criteria as a strategy for reducing the identified complexity and enhancing the use of information to grant the rights and advantages of the server in accordance with current legislation. The study provokes reflections on the visibility of the Archivist as an information manager, the Public Archive as a source of information, the strengthening of relations between the areas of Information Science and Archiving, in addition to promoting the use of information as an asset to guarantee smooth functioning of public institutions, promoting access to public information, encouraging transparency, social control and citizenship.

  • The term advocacy is current and emerging and signals the support of civil society and government in favor of a cause, strengthens the democratic system and the creation of public policies. Studies in Information Science on advocacy in libraries, nowadays, are perceived as scarce. It is believed that in the near future the theme will be strengthened by research and practices, enhancing the social function of libraries and promoting greater participation of civil society in decision-making in the library environment. The present study sought to investigate the use of advocacy devices in the Public Library of the State of Bahia, with a view to contributing to reflections that may reinvigorate the social function of Brazilian Public Libraries. Advocacy actions were carried out in the Public Library of the State of Bahia, chosen in this study due to its importance of being the first Public Library in the country and in Latin America. The advocacy actions were entitled “Course on Organization of Libraries for Evaluations” and “Perspectives and Expansion of the Social Value of Public Libraries”. As a result of the actions, we had an increase in the number of users at the BPEB, visibility of the BPEB, validation of the Public Library's social function; Influence on decision-making at BPEB, new activists in defense of Public Libraries, transfer of civil society in defense of Public Libraries and contribution to the dissemination of the term Advocacy among information professionals.

  • The ways of creating, organizing, disseminating, using and preserving information and knowledge, especially in the context of research and science, have been strongly impacted by technologies and especially by the movement of open access to scientific production, thus leading to transformations in the system of scientific communication. This study seeks to investigate the scientific production of research-teachers from the Postgraduate Program in Information Science in Brazil published in open access. It is justified due to the importance of discussions for Information Science about the relationships between production, communication and dissemination of scientific knowledge by Brazilian researchers-teachers in the context of scientific communication and its production in open access as new spaces for the democratization of science . The general objective of the research consists of: Knowing the open access scientific production of the researcher-teachers of the Postgraduate Program in Information Science in Brazil. The specific objectives to be achieved are: (i.) raise the scientific production of researchers-teachers at PPGCIs in Brazil; (ii.) demonstrate the situation of scientific production in open access by researchers-teachers at PPGCIs in Brazil. (iii.) identify the perception of researchers-teachers at PPGCIs in Brazil about open access. This is descriptive research, with a qualitative-quantitative approach. It intends, through documentary survey, to map and identify the open access scientific production of PPGCIs do Brasil researcher-teachers, identifying the type of publication adopted. It also seeks to identify the perception of research-teachers about open access through the application of a questionnaire. The research consisted of surveying the scientific production recorded in the Lattes Curriculum of 221 researcher-teachers from nine PPGCIs, resulting in the survey of 25,502 types of documents, of which an analysis of the articles was carried out, totaling 8924, distributed in 1066 journals. The research result demonstrated that the relationships between the actors in the scientific communication ecosystem influence scientific production and that there is a predominance of open access publication by PPGCIs professor-researchers. It is concluded that this trend places PPGCIs' research-teachers in the context of global open access, as well as the area of Information Science, which generates individual and collective benefits for everyone who seeks to make scientific knowledge widely available and accessible in a free.

  • The use of social media as mediating devices for information and culture by university libraries in the Brazilian Northeast is the theme of this work. From this perspective, the present research has the general objective: of investigating how federal university libraries in the Brazilian Northeast are using social media to mediate information and cultural mediation with their user community. The specific objectives corresponded to: (a) identifying the devices used and the activities carried out by federal university libraries in the Brazilian Northeast within the scope of social media; (b) describe information and cultural mediation actions that reveal the sociocultural aspects that permeate the context in which libraries are located; (c) investigate the scope of the dimensions of information mediation in the activities carried out by the aforementioned libraries, based on social media. Regarding methodology, this is a descriptive research, adopting as a a procedure method, a study of multiple case, which had as its universe of investigation the federal university libraries in the Brazilian Northeast. The sample was constituted from this universe, selected the institutional social media profiles (Facebook, YouTube and Instagram) of the systems or directorates of these university libraries. The technique of direct and systematic observation of these profiles was adopted to describe and organize the actions that are developed in these virtual spaces, associated with the technique of content analysis of messages and posts on these devices, as well as the application of a questionnaire with librarian managers with in order to verify aspects related to the management of these profiles and the scope of the dimensions of information mediation. The data analysis procedure was both quantitative and qualitative. The results highlight some aspects that should be rethought on the use of social media investigated by university libraries in the Brazilian Northeast, considering that they have adopted such tools as devices and means of communication to disseminate information and promote culture among subjects in the virtual environment, and given that there is limited use of the communication potential offered by these digital platforms, in order to encourage interaction and active participation of their user community. This finding highlights the need for greater attention and investment in the development of mediation strategies, both information and culture, that aim to maximize the impact of these libraries in promoting knowledge and strengthening links with informational subjects in cyberspace.

  • This study was based on the assumption that the school library is a relevant environment in reader formation, which is why different areas (library science, education, and literature) produce studies on this topic. In this line of thinking, search to analyze the production on school libraries within the scope of Postgraduate Programs in Information Science after the entry into force of law 12.244/2010 came into effect, which deals with the universalization of School Libraries. Hence, intending to gather indicators that would highlight the functionality of this space as a place of memory, reading, education and culture, part of the history of these institutions was reconstructed. Intending to gather evidence about the functionality of this space as a place for reading, reader formation, education and culture, search it in literature the theoretical framework to investigate the library in the school context. In this sense, the research chose as it is general objective the analysis of production on school libraries within the scope of GPIS after law 12.244/2010 came into force. Specifically, search to: inventory Brazilian postgraduate programs in Information Science; raise the production of Postgraduate Programs in Information Science on school libraries between 2010 and 2022; identify the themes addressed in research carried out on the school library in the analyzed period; verify the relationship established between the School Library and reading for reader formation. In this way, the research is characterized as bibliographic and documentary, of the descriptive type, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, in which scientific productions (theses and dissertations) of the Postgraduate Programs in Information Science were used as a data collection instrument, which deal with school libraries and actions related to reading and reader formation. The data were analyzed in light of the literature and the researches interpretation. The results arising from this investigation show that: scientific production stricto sensu, after the entry into force of Law 12.244/2010 is significant; the southeast and south regions are those with the largest number of productions; there is a diversity of content covered in research on school libraries; contents such as ;reading; and; reader formations; appear timidly represented, and, there fore, the relationships between them and the school library are little visible in the productions. It is concluded that there was an increase in scientific discussions on the topic, given the number of dissertations, theses, and content covered in these productions, results that show the relevance of the topic for Information Science.

  • The profile and insertion in the job market of graduates of the Postgraduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of Bahia, from 2007 to 2019, are analyzed. To achieve this purpose, the following specific objectives were proposed: identify graduates; outline the profile of graduates and map the performance and professional insertion in the job market of graduates, all from the indicated institution and period. The method is monographic, of the organizational case study type. The research is descriptive in nature and has a qualitative and quantitative approach. In the preliminary stage, an information survey was carried out on the websites of Postgraduate Programs in Information Science and on the Lattes and Sucupira Platforms, to quantify the existing programs in Brazil. Documentary research was carried out on the website of the Postgraduate Course in Information Science at the Institute of Information Science at the Federal University of Bahia to identify its graduates and consult documents and reports. For the theoretical foundation and preparation of the questionnaire, bibliography was consulted in secondary sources, articles, books and other works. In the search and retrieval of information, several strategies were adopted, using the descriptors “information science”, “postgraduate”, “graduates” and “job market”, in banks and databases, Scielo, Portal de Periódicos from CAPES and Google Scholar and Bank of Theses and Dissertations. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire, consisting of nineteen open and closed questions, applied to graduates, who defended their dissertations/theses in the period referred to. Subsequently, a pre-test was carried out with voluntary graduates and the collection instrument was refined. The resulting data was organized in Excel, tabulated and represented in graphs and charts. The results made it possible to achieve the objectives set, to design the academic and professional profile of graduates of the Postgraduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of Bahia and their insertion in the job market during the proposed period and to learn about other aspects. The study concludes with the characteristics of the profile of the graduates under analysis, the socioeconomic ones, which identifies the predominant female gender, earning an average salary of 7 thousand reais, and whose age is between 31 and 35; the professionals, in which the librarian/documentalist predominates, working at the federal level, with an employment relationship prior to entering the master's and doctorate course, and who underwent a change in their work occupation after completing the course, with the majority of them going into teaching; and academics, detecting that the majority of graduates studied at the stage level, and whose scientific production corresponds to between 1 and 5 works in conference annals. It is expected that the study will provide support for improving the quality of teaching and learning in the Postgraduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of Bahia, the scientific production of its teaching staff and graduates, thus demonstrating its efficiency in training masters and doctors to work in teaching and/or research and also professionals to work in the field of Information Science.

  • Personal files are produced involuntarily, consisting of documents that testify to the personal and also professional relationships of a person throughout life. This dissertation discusses the personal files of Anísio Spínola Teixeira, and its starting point is to understand the dispersion of personal documents of Anísio Teixeira that are evident in different institutions of custodians, considering that the document without that is, a set of contextualized documents. The result of the study was found that the personal documents of Anísio Teixeira are in custody in more than one institution of custody and memory, they are: Casa Anísio Teixeira, Arquivo Público Municipal de Caetité/Ba e o Centro de Pesquisa e Documentação de História Contemporânea do Brasil da Fundação Getúlio Vargas. The research shows that the documents establish an organic relationship of the respective documentary funds in these custody institutions

  • The step of acquisition of informational materials in libraries, in the context of formation and development, presents subdivisions, of which the most common are purchase, donation, and barter. In the acquisition by purchase, the need to allocate financial resources is recurrent, and the use of mathematical and/or statistical formulas can be a facilitator in the process of allocating financial resources for the acquisition of analog and/or digital information materials. Thus, the need to study the allocation of financial resources in university libraries of the federal network is justified not only for financial issues but also because of social issues related, for example, to access to information. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to study how the allocation of financial resources works for the purchase of informational materials in university libraries, considering undergraduate courses. It is a descriptive research of information technology of nature, using the critical-dialectical methodological approach. As main results, we highlight that, in most cases, the reading of the Policies for the Formation and Development of Collections is not enough to fully understand how the process of acquisition of informational materials is carried out in the Libraries of Brazilian Federal Universities; there is no pattern among the researched institutions to allocate financial resources for the purchase of there is no standard among the researched institutions to allocate financial resources for the purchase of informational materials; eight institutions use formulas to allocate resources for the purchase of information materials; the existence of a policy for the formation and development of collections contributes to the presentation of criteria and/or indicators that should be used to support the decision on the allocation of financial resources for the purchase of information materials; the absence of a policy for the formation and development of collections affects the work of professionals in relation to the process of formation and development of collections. Therefore, this study recommends greater objectivity, transparency, and assertiveness in the processes that involve the allocation of financial resources for the purchase of informational materials

  • Different processes that make up the Knowledge Organization undergo continuous transformations. They are the ones that tend to accompany everything from communication models to technologies associated with the production, registration, transmission, access and use of knowledge. In Information Science, Knowledge Organization appears as a sub-area of research, but in the scientific environment, the domains of the latter go beyond the former and are concentrated in a consolidated manner in the areas of Computing and, mainly, in Knowledge Engineering, above all, in applied mode, through Ontologies. The present thesis takes as a premise the context in question and the belief that, through the basic principles of Ontologies in Information Science and machine learning in Artificial Intelligence, it is possible to establish recommendations for a Domain Ontology in the context of Imagetic Digital Objects under the perspective of social relevance in systems that act intelligently, enabling other organizational strategies for accessing and retrieving data and documents. As a general objective, recommendations were elaborated for a Domain Ontology within the scope of Imagetic Digital Objects in the light of Information Science. As specific objectives, bibliographies on Ontologies and Knowledge Organization Systems in Information Science were analyzed; mapped bibliographies on modeling domains using images in Information Science; raised principles for the development of Ontologies in Information and Computing Science; in addition to presenting parameters for image processing that enable ontological modeling. The investigative method is characterized as mediate deductive and the research, from the point of view of the objectives, is typified as explanatory, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, carrying out bibliographic procedures and content analysis. As a result, 10 (ten) recommendations are presented to generate a Domain Ontology using the context of digital images under the aegis of the Organization of Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence environments, intelligible to humans, and processable by machine. It is concluded that the modeling of domains, based on the use of imagery language, promotes innovation, accessibility and increment to representational means and recovery of knowledge records.

In this collaborative universe, research data has been the object of study due to the social need to obtain reliable data for scientific advancement in an open and freeway. In addition, several development agencies recognize the importance of research data, consequently, they began to demand adequate management of these data. This highlights the need to ensure means and mechanisms for preserving and reusing data through policies that regulate the opening of data from public resources. By contextualizing the literature on research data, a gap is perceived in Brazilian universities as wellasinmostfundingagencies in the structuringofpoliciesthatdirectresearcherstothemanagementofscientificdata,since the Open Sciencemovementpointstoanappropriatedtreatmentofresearchdatatoenablethe process of storage, organization, search, recovery, and dissemination of collected data. And this impacts on the researcher's adherence (or not) in opening and sharing their scientific production, among other reasons. Thus, this study has the general objective: to know the perception of research professors regarding data management and UFBA actions developed for the implementation of a research data management policies in the context of Open Science. This is a single integrated case study, since, in Brazil, studies regarding data management plans for scientific research are still in their embryonic stages. Knowing the historical importance of the Federal University of Bahia, it was chosenforthisstudy.Forthe methodological route, the online questionnaire was chosen as an instrument for data collection, following the Likert Scale model. As this is a qualitative research, data analysis was carried out using the Paraconsistent Logic technique, with the aim of treating and balancing the degrees of agreement and disagreement between propositions, avoiding misinterpretations.And,together,theSpearmancorrelationcoefficientwasused.Theresearch identified some gaps in the policy framework for data management in Brazilian universities, despite the growing recognition of the importance of research data in the advancement of science. In addition, he revealed that UFBA is still far from the open science practices observed worldwide.   • Identifying the strategies employed by Renorbio researchers in constructing patent networks and their repercussions on the increase in scientific and technological production confer visibility to them in their scientific community. It is initially based on the hypothesis that Renorbio researchers have collaborative network formation as a strategy to maximize productivity, thus constituting a constant form of scientific collaboration that influences the increase in scientific and technological production. It is supported by Pierre Bourdieu's (1994, 2017) theories of field, habitus, capital, and strategies of reproduction. Subsidies were sought from Menzel (1966), Merton (1969), Price (1976), Beaver and Rosen (1978), Garvey and Griffith (1979), Le Coadic (1996), Meadows (1999), Vanz and Stumpf (2010), Schwartzman (2015), and Cupani (2016), among other authors, to construct the theoretical framework. It is argued that collaborative networks implemented during the construction of science are one of the representative forms of researcher interaction, as well as the strategies employed in their production, and that information and communication are essential to understand the dynamics of scientific production and communication, as well as the relationships that occur among scientists and the processes inherent in the production of science. Constructed in three stages, each responding to two specific objectives, the first stage developed a bibliometric study in which two assumptions were elaborated that contributed to understanding specific points of the research, as well as some statistical analyses that allowed correlating some variables. In response to the hypothesis of the first analysis, it was concluded that there is no relationship between research that results in patent deposits and/or grants and the publication of articles. The second stage analyzed the collaborative network, which made it possible to verify that the patent collaborative network is entirely concentrated, with the most central actors also among the most productive in patents, concluding that scientific collaboration is used as a strategy and has a significant influence on increasing scientific and technological production, more precisely of patents. The third and final stage was divided into the analysis of two dimensions. The first dimension explored the perception of Renorbio researchers regarding obtaining academic prestige and visibility, and the second dimension identified the strategies for increasing scientific and technological production and gaining scientific authority. This last stage showed that Renorbio researchers use collaborative networks as a strategy for increasing productivity, and furthermore, in the researchers' perception, the various partnerships they have built contribute substantially to boosting scientific and technological production. It is suggested that the relationship between patent production and article publication be investigated, comparing them with other biotechnology researcher networks. The research made a significant contribution to the study area by combining three different and complementary methodologies: bibliometric research, social network analysis, and the Likert scale, allowing for a broad view of the productive panorama of Renorbio. Moreover, it also demonstrated the need to introduce a more pronounced theoreticaldiscursive discussion from the Bourdieusian perspective applied to collaborative network studies in science, thus providing a possible model for studies that address similar themes to the one presented.

  • BACKGROUND: The scientific communication ecosystem is based on three fundamental premises: (1) journals publish correct knowledge; (2) peer review recognizes and/or produces correct knowledge and (3) citation performance rewards correct knowledge. These assumptions, however, have not been sufficiently tested. OBJECTIVES: To understand the relationships between editorial policies of scientific journals in the health sciences and their citation performance, testing the hypothesis that policies that promote scientific integrity predict expressive citation performance. METHODS: This is a documental, exploratory, quantitative, applied study, which employed public data. A random stratified sample of 10% of scientific journals of Medicine II from QUALIS CAPES 2017-2020 was extracted, pairing unique International Standard Serial Numbers of journals until a number of journals from strata A1, A2, B1, B2 and B3 was obtained, respecting the 10% sample (n = 411 journals). These journals had their editorial policies described within three categories: (1) editorial policies aiming to promote scientific integrity; (2) editorial policies related to the way content was made available and amplified; (3) editorial policies that communicated prestige. Citation performance indicators were retrieved using the journal's ISSN through the OpenAlex application programming interface in the free software Harzing's Publish or Perish, version 8.8.4384.8527 (2023.05.06.1538). The H, AW and E Indices of each unique ISSN were retrieved. The extracted citation performance covered the period of publication ranging from 2012 to 2022. A multivariate linear regression was performed between editorial policies and citation performance of journals. For all analyses, a p value <0.05 was considered. RESULTS: Among the policies that promote scientific integrity, adherence to the EQUATOR Initiative guidelines, incentives to registered reports and pre-registration of reviews at the Prospero platform did not prove to be predictors of citation increment. Among the predictors, the largest increases in citation were for the MEDLINE and SCOPUS indexes, but with wide confidence intervals. It was observed that indexed journals are not fully complying with the criteria for entry and permanence in the respective collections. The most accurate confidence intervals in the multivariate analysis occurred for policies of: authorship according to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, data sharing, pre-registration of clinical trials, retractions, open access and pre-prints. CONCLUSION: Pro-integrity policies accurately predicted citations but generated a small increase in the distribution of received citations. Indexing, which is a characteristic associated with prestige, in turn, predicted an increase in citations in greater volume, but with less precision and without a high prevalence of integrity policies requested by the respective indexers. So, being in the indexer alone predicted a significant increase in citation distribution. In other words, prestige predicted citation in greater volume and with less accuracy. Integrity predicted citation in smaller volume and with more accuracy.

  • The being of the farm “agrestiana” (from Agreste’s region of Brazil) refers to a feeling of belonging and recognition in rural spaces, where singularities are constituted. The rural zone, therefore, a place of the construction of the identity and experiences, where is nourished the desire for permanence and create
    emotional bonds. The way in which life manifests itself in rural areas reveals a constant intertwining with information, whether in the relationship of issues related to land handling, water resources, peasant family farming, schooling and many other aspects. Therefore, the investigation seeks to understand the
    meaning of Information Literacy in the lives of subjects who lives in the Agrestian rural areas. To meet this claim, we bring the specific objectives: 1) Understand, from rural areas, how subjects access and use information in the farms; 2) Identify and analyze the evidence of Information Literacy embedded in the actors’ life outlines; 3) Discuss how access to information contributes to the subjects’ life and its trajectory and 4) present an Information Literacy Education plan. Starting from the premise of these life stories reveals the way in which subjects develop and employ Information Literacy in their daily lives in the rural area of Sergipe,
    admitting that these knowledges, skills, attitudes and values are stressed and (re)thought on a path continuous conscious, critical and reflective learning. To respond to the objectives, we developed qualitative research, with an epistemic- methodological combination of ethnography and (auto)biography. The (auto)biographical narrative interviews, photographs and observations compose the chosen research devices. It should be noted that the study was developed in the municipality of Riachão do Dantas, located in “Agreste Sergipano” (agrestian area of Sergipe State) and the selected actors reside in rural areas, specifically in the “Povoado da Lagoa” (Lagoa Village), “Alto do Cheiro” and “Barro Preto” localities.To proceed with the analysis of the way in which life manifests itself in rural agrestian areas, we identified the contemporary ruralities that emerged from social articulations: spatials, productives, questioning and informational. Such ruralities highlighted the dynamics of access and informational use of the research actors, and it was understood that they employ desirable actions to be competent in information. However, they have some difficulty in accessing the information they access and, furthermore, they lack essential informations for their complete emancipation. This information is not easily accessible and, sometimes, subjects are not aware that it is necessary to seek it. One arrives at the perception, therefore, that when talking about themselves, subjects reflect on their knowledges, skills, attitudes, values and, perhaps, (re)configure them. Furthermore, the research presents a structure and a planning aimed to promote Information Literacy Education, which can represent an assertive action both in rural spaces and in other contexts. In the case of the Agrestian areas, the locus of this research, it is necessary to consider the peculiarities of the lives of rural people.

  • The research presented as a theme the informational behavior of high school teachers oriented to activities related to the practice of scientific research, associated with the teaching-learning process. Considering the statement, we questioned how the social network devices can contribute to the oriented research practices of the teachers of the Military Police College of the State of Bahia? To answer the starting question, we outlined the research objectives, whose general objective sought to evaluate the implications of the use of social networks in the oriented research practices of the teachers of the Military Police College of the State of Bahia, in the light of knowledge from the domain of Information Science (IC) knowledge. To ensure the feasibility of the research, we determined the specific objectives, which aimed to: a) profile the teachers who adopt social network devices to enhance the teaching-learning processes of the students of the analyzed institution; b) map the active scientific initiation projects and the respective social networks used in the process of search and retrieval of information by teachers and; c) describe mechanisms of informational behavior of teachers in the process of search, retrieval and use of content oriented to scientific initiation activities. For the development of the stated objectives, we used, in the research methodology, the monographic procedure method (case study), the level of investigation is descriptive, data analysis adopted a qualitative and quantitative nature, and the technique and instrument of research corresponded to the structure of an electronic questionnaire. The results allowed us to infer the interference of social networks in the teaching-learning process, also intervening positively in the informational behavior of teachers. As final considerations, we highlight the importance of qualifying the use of social networks inscribed in technological spaces, considering the school environment interrelated to the world of information and, consequently, discuss the potentiality of social networks.

  • The work presents a discussion about the relationships that involve scientific information, women and the issue of gender in Scientific Communication regarding the organization of scientific journals through the representation of their scientific editorials. The intention of the research is to highlight the importance of the presence of women in science as well as their contribution in the scope of scientific journals in Information Science and also in the Librarianship of Brazil, which seek to disseminate results of studies in the area. The study, then, has the general objective of analyzing how editorials of national scientific journals in Librarianship and Information Science (BCI) are organized, taking into account the role of women and gender disparities in publishing policy. Specifically, we sought to: map national scientific journals in BCI; present the editorials by genre; identify the role of women and gender disparities in publishing policy; discuss about and how protagonism can be socially represented by the woman who occupies the role of scientific editor of the Brazilian BCI journals. For that, a descriptive research was carried out supported by a quali-quanti analysis of the social roles of the editors-in-chief mobilized by the trajectory of women in science until reaching the editorials of scientific journals. Conducted through data analyzed based on aspects of the theory of social representation, to understand the representation of women in this scientific field in the midst of the social world. Finally, it was evidenced that the leading role in the scientific field and in the publishing of journals is only sustained with the necessary and required qualification for this function, together with an active posture in the midst of social differences that encompasses society today. The representation of women still yearns to reach greater spaces to have more evidence and appreciation.

  • The need to deal with problems related to the storage and control of the mass of documents is directly related to the volume of documents produced, received, and accumulated by the Public Administration. The disorderly accumulation of documents can hamper the efficient and effective functioning of the Public Administration and restrict the fundamental right of access to information. This dissertation aims to analyze the use of records management principles in the application of the right of access to public information, within the scope of the systemic secretariats of the Executive Branch of the State of Bahia. The research is characterized as a study of multiple cases of exploratory and descriptive character, with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through the application of a questionnaire and interviews with subjects linked to the target secretariats of the investigation. Content analysis techniques were used to process the information collected in the field. The results reveal how the systemic secretariats of the Executive Branch of the State of Bahia can, through records management, ensure the right of access to information. They point to the regulation of legal provisions and the carrying out of important actions related to records management as essential elements for improving access to information. However, for the effective implementation of archival public policies, aiming to ensure the right of access to information, permanent monitoring and evaluation actions are necessary. It is concluded that, in this way, the implementation of archival public policies and the consequent guarantee of the right of access to information, within the scope of the Executive Branch of the State of Bahia, can be carried out.

  • The inclusion of the visually impaired in social spaces, especially in educational institutions, requires new attitudes and attitudes from the academic community that, in fact, enhance the integration of these people. Libraries must promote access to and appropriation of information through mediation activities that understand and respect the individuality of each subject. Therefore, this research had the general objective of investigating, from the perspective of information mediation, how the multilevel libraries of the IF Baiano have contributed to the access and appropriation of information by students with visual impairments, considering that information must be accessible to all, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, physical limitations and social conditions. This is a descriptive, qualitative and quantitative research, for which the case study method was used. To collect data from visually impaired students, the interview technique was adopted, to collect data from librarians, the questionnaire application technique will be used. The interviewees were 14 visually impaired students from eight of the ten IF Baiano campuses that have students with visual impairments and the questionnaire was administered in 8 of these 10 libraries. A document analysis of the Diversity and Inclusion Policy of the IF Baiano and the Unified Regulation of the Libraries of the IF Baiano was also carried out. The analysis of data from interviews with visually impaired students indicated that it is important to provide useful information, because many of them attend other social environments; in addition to expanding the dialogic process among library professionals, through sensitive listening with the visually impaired; adopt mobile communication devices to facilitate interaction and offer products and services; accomplishment of qualifications, aiming at the autonomous formation of these subjects to access the physical or digital resources available in the libraries. Other aspects that strengthen information mediation activities are the availability of resources that favor access to information by these users, such as, for example, the offer of readers (people who read books and describe images). The results also made it possible to perceive the relevance of expanding the qualification of librarians, to serve this public with specific needs; allocate resources from the budget for the acquisition of informational resources and assistive technology for libraries; implement the Braille sector in libraries, build a service policy aimed at these students, in addition to improving the articulation between the NAPNE and the Libraries, aiming at a revision of the Unified Regulation of the Libraries of the IF Baiano, contemplating the offer of specific services to the visually impaired. It is concluded that the libraries of IF Baiano need to dedicate and intensify efforts to offer information products and services to the visually impaired in an effective and conscious way, since the mediation of information is still incipient.

  • The study is about the continuing education of the librarian who works in legal institutions. The understanding that general education of librarians does not enable them to effectively meet the needs of legal professionals in their demands for legal information, combined with the lack of formal courses in Brazil that provide qualification to work in this area, as well as scarce literature on the practice of law librarians motivated this study. The lack of training aimed at developing specialized skills in legal information is considered in the literature related to the topic and needs to be highlighted, considering that spaces of dialogue in which the subject is discussed don’t have an adequate systematization to achieve this purpose. In discribing that reality, the research has the following question: how shall occur the continuing education process of the librarian who works in legal institutions? To answer this question, a general objective was designed: to know the process of continuing education of librarians who work in legal institutions. The specific objectives consist of: to describe the professional profile that is demanded for librarians who work with legal information; to verify the difficulties of librarians to search, process, use and disseminate legal information; to investigate the continuing education actions developed by librarians to work in law libraries; to identify the perspectives and challenges for the professional performance of librarians of legal institutions, facing the technological paradigms of the information society. To answer the question and achieve the objectives, the methodology of the present investigation assumes a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory genre, whose population is the law librarians of the city of Salvador. The sample made a total of 10 participants which were divided into two subgroups according to the respondents' working environment: group 1 - librarians linked to higher education institutions and group 2 - those who work in institutions whose legal practice provides informational support to legal operators. The results showed that: a) professional profile mostly belongs to the female gender, with consolidated experience in working in the legal area, age group above 40 years old and postgraduation; b) the most expressive difficulties in the work exercise are linked to the lack of mastery of legal terminology, the lack of autonomy in decisions in the institutional scope; c) continuing education actions are linked to own initiatives in the search for new knowledge, that is, courses, events and discussion lists and/or institutional incentives; d) perspectives that were presented are related to the massive use of ICT in the information environment to optimize the services provided, while the challenges are financial, human resources, infrastructure and technology. It is concluded that most of these professionals acquire knowledge and skills about Legal Librarianship in an autodidact way and in exercising the profession, due to the absence of formal tools that would enable them to work in legal institutions. Investments in librarianship training institutions are necessary in order to provide training for librarians who work or wish to work in different areas of knowledge, especially those devoted to legal librarianship.

  • The purpose of this study is to reflect on the need for theoretical and methodological criteria for the realization of a memorial based on a hybrid institution, that is, composed of archival, bibliographic, and museological documentation, without being understood on the same level of knowledge and technique. It is disturbing to see how spaces of memory are called "memorial". They carry out the practices of similar memory institutions as if there were no differences, and sometimes leading to similar methodological criteria without distinguishing between them. According to the literature review and exploratory research on the concepts of memory and "places of memory", institutions that focus on issues related to the recording, storage, and preservation of documents and artifacts are called "places of memory" or "memory institutions". These include archives, libraries, museums, and other places of documentary record, considering these concepts as spaces where memory finds shelter. In this context, with the advancement of Information Science and Information and Communication Technology, institutions collect documents of different natures, genres, formats, species, and typologies to compose collections of greater scope. Amid these transformations, the documentation center emerges, among other institutions such as the cultural center, the memory center, houses museums and similar, and the memorial, often understood without distinction between them. This fact is the source of complex and highly controversial discussions, especially considering the conceptual breadth of what is meant by a memorial. Therefore, the empirical methodology of this study consists of a case study of the Memorial of the Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA). This research carried out quantitative and qualitative methodologies by consulting the Cadastro Nacional de Museus do Instituto Brasileiro de Museus (Ibram), the Cadastro Nacional de Entidades Custodiadoras de Acervos Arquivísticos do Conselho Nacional de Arquivos (Conarq) and the Cadastro do Sistema Nacional de Bibliotecas Públicas (SNBP). The results obtained highlight the conceptual and constitutive elements of a memorial as an institution and, at the same time, how it can be a driver of informational actions for internal and external users and for society in general, based on sources from "places of memory".

  • Bibliotherapy, understood as therapy through books, can provide information that makes it possible to create a state of wonder in oncology treatment, which evokes feelings and emotions in certain patients, such as children and adolescents. In this context, this study aimed to determine how the reading process associated with bibliotherapy interferes with therapeutic interventions in hospitalized children at the Martagão Gesteira Hospital, Salvador. The research required approval from the Ethics Committee for the Study of Maternal Climério de Oliveira of the UFBA (CEP/MCO) with Opinion Number 4,827,922. In a field study, 29 children were hospitalized for cancer treatment. As part of the methodological procedures, we adopted the method of using forms in the Bibliotherapeutic Meetings to analyze the benefits obtained through the practice of reading and writing stories in the Martagão Gesteira Hospital. The research was carried out in pediatric oncology, specifically in the chemotherapy room, in the ward and in the oncology outpatient clinic of the Martagão Gesteira Hospital, in bibliotherapeutic meetings and the use of forms among children and health workers. Our work is based on the research of theorists who deal with the topic on the screen. In presenting and discussing the results, we can hypothesize that bibliotherapy practices can respond positively to children's behavior in illness situations, moving from a painful and apathetic state to joy, well-being, and change. Peace of mind is confirmed by the healthcare professionals surveyed. In analyzing the results of this study, we find that bibliotherapy promotes mental and emotional health, increases courage and happiness, and reduces fear and anxiety.

  • The present work aims to analyze the concept of place of memory, coined by the French Pierre Nora, and to understand the memorial as a memory space, especially the Memorial Arlindo Coelho (MACF), which currently appears as the memory space of the School Polytechnic of the Universidade Federal da Bahia and present the trajectory of MACF in the process to be a place of memory. The dissertation consists of five sections. The first is the introduction that will address the initial aspects of the dissertation. The second section presents the concept of memory and introduces three theorists who discuss it. The third section presents the concept of place of memory, coined by Pierre Nora and evaluated from the point of view of contemporaneity. The fourth section will develop the trajectory of the Memorial Arlindo Coelho Fragoso. The adopted methodology consisted of a documental and bibliographical research on the subject, using questionnaires as a research instrument.

  • The interrelationship of bibliotherapy with information mediation and reading mediation is the theme of this study, whose objective was to analyze how bibliotherapy has been treated, in its relationship with the mediation of information and the mediation of reading in the scientific production of Information Science, and to identify the theoretical and practical contributions and perspectives in this thematic relationship. With regard to methodology, this is descriptive research, using bibliographic research and the quali-quantitative approach as its method. To analyze the data, the technique of content analysis was used, and the instrument adopted was the reading form. When analyzing the productions that comprised the sample of this work, it was noticed that bibliotherapy, information mediation and reading mediation are intertwined through characteristics that are fundamental to carry out the activities, however this interrelation is implicit, as it is not directly indicated in the studies by the authors of Information Science. It was also found that the most frequent characteristics are related to the systematization of the bibliotherapeutic action and the aesthetic relationship that occurs in the reader's encounter with the informational device, evidenced by emotion, among other feelings, which become fundamental in the development of activities and enable the (re)knowledge and transformation of the subject. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the studies on bibliotherapy and that they be developed in order to further explore the possibility of this thematic interlace and to enrich theoretical discussions about bibliotherapy, as this is an affectionate and informational practice. For this reason, it needs to be understood and defended as such in the field of Information Science.

  • The research approaches stricto sensu graduate student dropout and its main objective is to analyze the motifs of graduate student dropout in Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs in Information Science in the Brazilian Northeast from 2017 to 2021. Specifically, it is searched to trace a panorama of stricto sensu graduate student dropout in Graduate Programs in Information Science in the Northeast Region of Brazil in the proposed period. It also aims to identify and to characterize the investigation participants as well as to investigate the motivations of this phenomena, enabling the obtaining of recent data. In order to reach the announced pretension, it is adopted a bibliographic research of descriptive level with mixed nature (qualitative and quantitative), developed from the application of an electronic questionnaire directed to the Course Secretariats and to the dropout students in the analyzed period, coping with multiple causes of rupture in academic relation. The obtained results coming from the investigation developed at the Graduate Programs in Information Science of Bahia, Paraíba and Pernambuco pointed that: from the production survey about the theme, literature is scarce; most of dropout students is feminine. Also, there are two big causes of dropouts. The first one is of voluntary nature, related to personal questions, such as difficulty in conciliation of academic activities and labor and home routine, and maternity. The second cause is related to compulsory processes of course shutdown, in which it is evidenced the questions linked to the Program, such as difficulty in accompanying the used methodology, as well as the erosion of the relationship between counselor and mentee. It is concluded that studies and debates about the theme are necessary, especially the dialogic insertion as analysis agenda of the student trajectory in Graduate Courses, in order to minimize conflicts that cause prejudices to the involved ones (program and students) added to the action of Programs to comprehend the dropout phenomena as a question which brings reflexes in the whole educational process of higher education.

  • The dissertation entitled MANIHO'K: MEMORY AND INFORMATION FROM THE Casa de Farinha OF POVOADO TERREIRÃO, MUNIZ FERREIRA, BAHIA, was developed within the scope of the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in the line of research 1: Information Policies and Technologies, and hosted by the Memory, Heritage, Culture, Information and Digital Platforms Research Group (G-Acervos). The general objective is to identify the informational elements in the flour mill in the village of Terreirão. The specific objectives are: a) to record the narratives about the origin of Povoado Terreirão; b) present the informational elements developed at the flour mill in Povoado Terreirão; c) report the formation of the Povoado of Terreirão in the context of the Recôncavo Baiano and the municipality of Muniz Ferreira; and d) point out the documentary information about the Povoado Terreirão. The methodology used was the case study and the writings, in a tireless search for constituent elements of the place, as well as the innumerable ethnic-racial cultural contributions. The methodological procedures that helped guide the work are: literature review; secondary data collection; observation in loco and documentary research. The analysis and results were constructed based on Afrocentric references, based on the concepts of memory from Hampaté Bâ, ethnic-racial information (Oliveira and Aquino) and pretagogia (Petit). The conclusion of this study is based on the informational elements in the flour house of Povoado Terreirão materialized by artifacts, techniques, technologies and other orality and it is through them that all ancestral information is preserved and disseminated, enabling subjects to produce countless other ways of re-elaborating the contemporary world. Therefore, it is observed that such practices sound like a way of establishing identity and belonging, in addition to (re)existence.

  • Conduct an infocommunicational study of the audiovisual production and community actions of students from a public school located in Rodrigo Silva district (Ouro Preto/MG) is the central focus of this investigation. The main objective, from the perspective of Information Science (IS), is to analyze the correlations of Infocommunicational Competencies (InfoCom Competencies) with the youth protagonism of students who belong to the Rodrigo Silva Audiovisual group (ARS Group), constituted in that locality, considering the Production, Circulation and Mediation of Information research line at the PPGCI/UFBA. From a theoretical perspective, the research seeks to prospect a potentially transdisciplinary IS, capable of encompassing the InfoCom Competencies and the protagonism anchored in issues related to infocommunicational knowledge and practice. An IS that stands as an implicit science, which reinvents based on knowledge that is established at the frontiers of knowledge itself, in environments of hyperinformation and new media developments towards a citizen construction based on autonomy and empowerment. Through a triangulation between bibliographic, documentary and empirical research it was decided for a methodological trajectory that pointed to the complexity, from a possible dialogue between phenomenology and critical theory, through a set of procedures that permeate the communicative action, involving ethnography and netnography techniques. An empirical analysis of Alves de Brito TV was carried out, maintained by Grup ARS on YouTube, which has more than 23.5 million views, using netnography. Likewise, a face-to-face investigation of the actions of these young people in their community was carried out in activities such as workshops and a film club, among other cultural activities. Between speech and content analysis of the theoretical and empirical framework , a theoretical-methodological expansion of IS was sought based on knowledge arising from a community that projects itself globally from a singular territory, with low internet availability and access limitations to digital information and communication technologies, as well as symbolic cultural goods that go beyond that location. It was concluded, under discursive possibilities about logic, that there is a retro-strengthening between youth protagonism and InfoCom Competencies can be perceived beyond the functional-marketing universe and that, intertwined, interfere, feed and feedback on the sociocultural and cognitive processes studied in the scope and at the intersections of the IS itself, demonstrating, from the empirical results, the potential for the development of democratic-participatory community of practices.

  • Highlighting the importance of reading mediation in community libraries, for the training
     of critical readers, this study focuses on actions of this nature within the scope of university 
    extension, articulating their analysis to the dimensions of information mediation. 
    Thus, the research question was whether these dimensions have been achieved in the
     activities of the Lapidar Project, assuming that this hypothesis has been relative. Its general
     objective was to identify and analyze whether the dimensions of information mediation have been 
    achieved by Lapidar, deployed in the specific of objectives of mapping the actions that are carried 
    out; identify and categorize the indicators of the reach of the dimensions in these actions and verify the
     levels of occurrence of the indicators, evaluating the intensity of the reach of the dimensions the mediation 
    of information. The study was descriptive, with-structured a qualitative and quantitative approach,
     based on the association of the methods of the case study and participant, and the adoption of 
    the techniques of systematic direct observation, focus group and semi interview. The universe 
    was that of Lapidar's actions and the sample was made in 2019, at the Padre Alfonso Pacciani Community 
    Library, composed of 14 members of Lapidar; three representatives of the Library and 42 readers. 
    The main results showed that Lapidar's actions are divided into two axes: focused on the training of 
    mediators and the mediation of reading. In the first axis, they are intended to discuss actions for the 
    training of mediators and acquire a teaching-learning character in their planning and execution. 
    The reading mediation actions aim to promote and encourage reading in the community. Their mapping
     made it possible to identify indicators of the scope of the dimensions of information mediation. In the scope 
    of training actions, the level of occurrence of the indicators demonstrated a relative reach of the dialogical 
    dimension; the intense reach of the aesthetic dimension; relative to the formative dimension, and the
     ethical and political dimensions, although with a limited number of indicators, were analyzed as being of 
    intense scope, allowing awareness of the area's social responsibility and the role of mediation. As for the reach 
    of dimensions in reading mediation actions, the results pointed to a relative reach of the dialogical dimension, 
    but which, associated with the awareness process on the theme, contributed to the intense reach of the aesthetic
     dimension, which suggests some reach of the formative dimension, although the evidence to affirm it was 
    insufficient. The same occurred in assessing the reach of the ethical and political dimensions in these actions.
     However, there is evidence of an awareness by participants in the association they made between the topic of
     reading and their experiences. These results show the importance of research that deepens this type of study, 
    but also allows us to conclude that the Lapidar Project has been reaching the dimensions of information 
    mediation in the actions it carries out. Although the intensity of this reach is occurring without equity between 
    these dimensions, it has been developing, and this study can collaborate with the advancement of Lapidar, 
    which continues to systematically improve the training of mediators and cooperate with the
    social development of the external community.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the connections between Information Science (IS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) observed in the SmartJud PJe application, developed with the purpose of solving the demands of users of the PJe system, when analyzing the impacts of the system on the meeting users' information needs. This was a descriptive exploratory case study, where information was collected from the Chatbot tool database, which has Artificial Intelligence in its core, using cognitive processes. The results presented pointed, with the inclusion of the Chatbot SmartJud PJe functionality, for an expansion of the service to the system, reduction of service by Service Desk for the business defined in the scope of the tool, in addition to the movement of personnel to attend other types of calls, leading to cost savings and time optimization. By observing the analyzed aspects, an intertwined and purposeful role in the interface between CI and AI was highlighted in a broad sense, where priority was given not only to technological refinement, but to users' needs, their social interactions, minimizing efforts and promoting speed in the recovery, management and communication of information. The results presented by this work did not exhaust the various possibilities that can be explored by the two areas in question, and in addition pointed to the need for further studies, for a broader analysis for the development of a methodology for using the precepts of CI for the other sciences.

  • The elderly population has grown more and more. This phenomenon is due to different factors, among them, the increase in life expectancy and the advancement of Medicine. Based on these inferences, it is necessary to adopt practices that can contribute to improving the quality of life in old age. In this perspective, the objective of this research was to analyze the reading mediation actions aimed at the elderly, in the city of Salvador, and to verify how these actions have been carried out. As for the methodology, it is a descriptive research, in which the survey method was used to identify the Long Term Care Institutions for the Elderly (ILPI) in the city of Salvador, and the method of multiple case studies, to investigate the way how these LTCFs develop reading mediation actions with the elderly. The interview technique, carried out in person, and the application of a questionnaire, via e-mail, to the managers of the 12 LTCF participating in the research collaborated to fulfill the stages of carrying out the reading mediation activities and to verify if the dimensions of the information mediation were achieved in reading mediation activities. In order to broaden the analysis of the scope of the dimensions of information mediation advocated by Gomes, a documentary analysis was also carried out with the adoption of the form. The results of the research pointed out that there are several possibilities to mediate reading with different devices and different purposes. However, storytelling and music therapy can be considered one of the most frequent reading mediation activities. It is also found that planning is essential to carry out the entire process of mediation of reading carried out at the LTCF and to reach the dimensions of mediation of information. It was concluded that reading mediation activities stimulate an awareness of the reality that the elderly live and a feeling of belonging on their part. In addition, reading mediation activities may be related to self-discovery, knowledge of others and the appropriation of information by the elderly, when they act proactively in their biopsychosocial context.

  • The present study stablished a relationship between the Information Science and Geosciences, specifically about the Paleontology, from the paleontological expedition at Poço Azul, in the year of 2005, which brought new elements about the prehistoric animals of megafauna, based on of fossils found. It was about implementing the fossils as objects of Paleontology studies out of a documentary perspective, with the goal of propose digital preservation actions at the Museu de Ciências Naturais da PUC-Minas Gerais, the institution which holds the guardianship of fossils, demonstrating the importance of digital preservation of this paleontological heritage. The selected method has been a hypothetical-deductive approach, the methodological procedure of exploratory-descriptive research of a case study with documentary analysis and expost-facto research, the technique of extensive direct observation and finally with interview and the use of a structured questionnaire. Due to lack of communication with the institution’s staff caused by the global COVID19 pandemic the interview was hold with a visitor researcher of the museum. It was applied questionnaire to representants of Nova Redenção city population and furthermore analyzed data of social media profiles of Poço Azul’s visitors between the years 2015 and 2020. The results proved that cannot be confirmed if there is some digital preservation action in Museu da PUCMinas Gerais’s collection, specifically about the Poço Azul’s found fossils, but is highlighted the relevance of the museum for the research about the found animals. The population of region where Poço Azul cave is localized demonstrate interest in knowing the fossils found in the cave and recognizes it as an economic, social and cultural potential for the region. At last, the results of analysis of internet profiles about knowledge over fossils activities at Poço Azul indicate that 17% of those who frequented the place knew of this event or understood it as relevant enough to mention them in their social media profiles on internet. It is concluded that in addition to the institutional actions recommended and shown in research, the digital preservation should be counted and used as a way to spread knowledge and reach the scientists, tourists and interested in the subject and population of the local and regional communities.

  • This research pointed to the need for the performance of a multiprofessional team in the development and graphic planning of scientific journals. Shortcomings have been noted in terms of a user-centered design of scientific publications, which requires immediate increments to achieve a better visual presentation of the publication, with the priority of transferring, producing and circulating information efficiently, clear and objective. However, there was an enormous resistance from scientific-academic editors in directing investments to assemble multiprofessional teams, leaving the graphic designer with all this responsibility and demanding from him, on semiotic knowledge, graphic design and on the user's cognitive field. Thus, it was asked: what elements and principles of editorial design should a scientific journal adopt to achieve a better visual presentation, specific to the dissemination of scientific knowledge? Note this questioning, the general objective of this study was to discuss the theoretical assumptions about what editorial design is and its contribution to the dissemination of scientific information in the light of the grammar of visual design and information science. In the specific objectives, the concepts of information, communication, semiotics and design were addressed, identified as issues involved in the design methodology and its vectors for scientific journals; editorial design was understood and its role as a mediator for the dissemination of scientific information; the history of the Revista Gazeta Médica da Bahia was revisited and the layout of the three covers chosen as a sample of the study was systematized, contributing to the areas of information science and design. For this investigation, a visual analysis of the layout of three covers of Gazeta Médica da Bahia was carried out, applying the theory of Kress and van Leeuwen (1996/2006), in order to understand editorial design and its role as a mediator for the dissemination of scientific information.

  • Research related to information competence is a recurring theme in the epistemological field of Information Science (IS). Starting from the idea that contemporary society presents transformations caused by informational inputs2 , the investigations concerning this subject appear as a counterpoint to understand the challenges imposed on social collectivity. Establishing objective criteria to analyze individuals' competence in contexts of exponential production of informational content, disinformation or counter-information becomes the keynote of authors who debate this topic. Among the associations in the Library Science field of knowledge that contributed to the development of the study of information competence, the American Library Association's work stands out, particularly its division called the Association of College and Research Libraries, which was responsible for creating objective standards and indicators on human empowerment, especially those demanded by the labor market. Considering the aforementioned prerogatives, the present research aimed to verify how the information competency of professionals who work in extrajudicial pre-mediation procedures at Câmara Especializada de Mediação e Arbitragem (CAMES/BA) interferes in the structuring process for solution-oriented mediation conflict resolution. The specific objectives corresponded to a) to verify how the pre-mediators seek and deal with the information necessary for extrajudicial mediation at CAMES/BA; b) to characterize the strategies used by these specialists in the process of seeking information in the appropriate solution of conflicts and; c) relate the American Library Association's (ALA) standards of information competence to the activities developed by these professionals. The methodological options for carrying out the case study comprised the method of procedure (case study), the level of research (descriptive), and the technique and instrument of investigation (questionnaire). The main results of the research confirmed that the strategies used by the professionals consist of actions such as consultation with libraries, internet databases, and participation in events about extrajudicial mediation. As for the sources of information used by the pre-mediators, a variety of possibilities were found, however, it was possible to observe that the organizational environment of CAMES offers a certain standard of cohesion of the professionals. Finally, the characteristics of the pre-mediation activity developed by the organization's specialists were associated with all the standards and indicators of information competence established by ALA in 2000, and it was concluded that the professionals' CoInfo plays a fundamental role in forwarding conflict resolution.

  • Assesses information management in public security operations for Major Events, held at the IOC / ICCC. It aims to outline ways to reduce uncertainties, to produce quality information, and to generate organizational knowledge, aimed at making strategic decisions. It is justified due to the harmful effects of the lack of information management in the C2 activity, in the public security operations for Major Events. It selects, as a sample, six servers that are members of the Planning Management of the IOC / ICCC, chosen by means of the intentional criterion and judgment of the non-probabilistic sample. It is methodologically designed as a case study using a descriptive survey (data collection instrument) composed of a semistructured questionnaire, with 12 open and closed questions. It assumes: the theoretical and practical processes, existing in information management, favor the C2 activity performed in public security operations for Major Events, carried out by SPS / State of Bahia, at IOC / ICCC. Analyzes the data by means of statistical tabulation and analysis of responses, determining percentages for the various response alternatives presented. It presents, as main results: the sources of information and the informational mapping come from the institutions that integrate the public security operations for Major Events; information flows, likewise, are the result of interinstitutional action; existing ICTs, in general, meet informational needs, with the IOC / ICCC being the greatest technological reference. It suggests, through the results obtained, the proposition of some actions / acquisitions, to subsidize the improvement of the information management, in the public security operations of SPS / State of Bahia in Major Events

  • This dissertation discusses the representation of information in personal files of writers. With a descriptive-exploratory character, the research is developed based on the case study, aiming to demonstrate that the Contemporary Diplomatics, in dialogue with the Genetic Textual Criticism, can contribute to the representation of information in the personal files of writers, from from the empirical experience with the file by Ildásio Tavares. Therefore, it presents a historical-conceptual path of “document” and “information” based on the dialogue between Information Science and Archives, highlighting the representation category. It points to Contemporary Diplomatics as a guide for information representation processes in the context of production in archives, presenting its theoretical and conceptual foundations and the methodology of archival identification for the investigation of documentary genesis. It highlights the conceptual and methodological interaction of Contemporary Diplomatics with Genetic Textual Criticism, for the analysis of practices, phases and acts of writing that make up different states and versions of the literary work. As a result, it presents a table of document categories and parameters for normalizing the name of the document type, anchored in the delimitation of the document's operational function in the writing process of Ildásio Tavares, in order to demonstrate the importance of the mechanisms for naming document types for the production of knowledge about individual and social practices that involve the production of information in writers' archives, for the promotion of access to and retrieval of information in writers' personal archives.

  • This study deals with an aspect of Law No. 12,527/2011 on Access to Information, when it states that all citizens have the right to information and access to documents related to public administration, in a transparent, clear and easy-to-understand language. In addition, the Brazilian Law of Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities No. 13.146/2015 is addressed, which, in article 63, establishes the mandatory accessibility of websites maintained by government agencies for the use of persons with disabilities, according to the practices and guidelines of accessibility adopted internationally. To this end, the websites of government agencies that work directly with document management will be analyzed, in order to verify if they comply with the law and at what stage of application they are. Narrowing this field of research, as part of the master's dissertation that is being developed, it is intended to verify the public archives and the accessibility of information on their websites, with the general objective of verifying the applicability of the Law on Access to Information and of the Accessibility Law for people with visual impairment on the electronic sites of the state public archives in the Northeast region. The applied methodology will be descriptive research, through quantitative and qualitative analysis criteria through the documental research procedure, comparing the data from the websites that is provided by law, obtaining the preliminary results of this Master's research. So far, the study shows that of the 9 states in the Northeast, 8 have a public state archive and 7 have electronic sites; in addition, it has as a result that 3 websites have the possibility of switching the font size and 2 websites have the high contrast option as accessibility features. However, only the public archives of the states of Pernambuco, Piauí and Alagoas have their own websites; the others - Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão and Sergipe - are linked to the websites of secretariats of state. Given the above, the importance of this work lies in emphasizing that the inclusion of people with disabilities contributes to the democratization of access to information, promoting social equality, valuing diversity, respecting differences and providing the same opportunity for all citizens, therefore, is a way for institutions to exercise their social responsibility.

  • The Information and Communication New Technologies arrival caused several transformations on worldwide scenery, it is impacting significantly the people lifeway, their relationships, how they produce, learn and apreehend. It is on the new scenery that Castells named of Information Society’s, globalization product, connected by the network of networks, the Internet, that borns the Generation Z, named of Digital Natives by Prensky (2001). This generation thinks, acts, learns and apreehends in a such different way regarding the last generation, known as Generation X or Digital Immigrants. Mold the school library services is a librarian work, to satisfactory attending the new information user demands. Thus, the study aims to identify how executed activies from school library, trough the Information and Communication New Technologies can contributing to generation Z students learning process, in accordance with the school’s Pedagogical Politic Project (PPP). The research subjects are private High School students. The bibliographic research is based on authors from Librarianship, Information Science and Education areas, understanding the interrelation and convergence of areas, seeking to show the study interdisciplinarity. The theoretical reference discusses about related subjects to theme, bringing theoretical approaches that deal with school library, generation Z, digital natives, technology, ICT and their uses in education and in librarianship, especially Campello, Presnky, Kenski, Castells , Kuhlthau, Palfrey and Gasser, among others. The research was elaborated trough the induticve method, qualitative approach with the triangulation adoption of bibliographic research and case study, field research and participatory research. Was used the student routine observation how data collect tecniche, during the use of services and activities carried out on the library and questionaire eletronic aplication, through sampling, carried out with students from Conventional High School (CHS) and New High School (NHS). This study is justified for contributing to civil society, the Information Science and Education community, as well as to the academic and scientific community, and the respective research subjects. The results analyses shows that the researched students appreciates the physical library environment, considering it comfortable with a diversified collection wich provokes interest in reading, in addition to providing activities and services that favor learning and critical sense. The need for expansion and innovation of school library activities, with and without the use of ICT, was evidenced. This sinalizations are too much importance to the activities and services library school continuous improvement, to the generation Z and the next generations. Thus, it is concluded that the school library plays an important role in the teaching and learning process and that the partnership between teachers and librarians is essential for the creation and development of actions aimed at improving the education process, especially with the digital technologies use.

  • The mediation of information analyzed within the scope of the NGO known as Observatorio Venezolano de Conflictividad Social, which underlies the scope of the defense of human rights and social protagonism is the aim of this work. In this perspective, this research was made to verify and analyze how the mediation of information has been carried out by the OVCS in defense of human rights and the development of social protagonism. The technique of direct observation of the activities carried out by the OVCS mediating agents was adopted for the mapping, description and categorization of the information mediation actions carried out by the OVCS. Based on these observations, it was decided to adopt the technique of applying a questionnaire and conducting interviews with the mediating agents of the OVCS, in order to obtain information on the level of these mediating actions with the development of a culture for human rights and the development of social protagonism, and to identify the perception of the concept of mediation of information that the mediating agents of OVCS have and its approximation with current theoretical conceptions in Information Science. In order to carry out the research, a reflection was necessary, based on the literature, which addressed the human rights and mediation of information, showing their contributions to the development and to make better the social protagonism. As a result, it was observed that this study offers a contribution to the development and improvement of OVCS information mediation actions in the struggle for the rights of Venezuelans. It was found that this contribution is a recognition of the relevance of the OVCS, which has been systematically striving to document, analyze and make visible the protests that took place on the Venezuelan streets, in order to support transformative actions that ensure respect for the rights of all, with equality and without discrimination by race, color, political thought or social condition.

  • Audio-description — designated as an audiovisual translation that transforms visual signs into verbal signs to promote social inclusion and accessibility of the visually impaired, the dyslexics and the elderly — is associated to Information Science with the purpose of analyzing how Information Science professionals, with their experience in disseminating and registering information, can assist Audio-description in relation to the preservation and safeguarding of Audio-descriptions. The relevance of this approach towards the preservation of the memory of audio-description in the country is emphasized, broadening, thereby, the awareness of audiodescription professionals and researchers through the concept of audio-descriptive information. It is important to understand which aspects should be highlighted in order to effectively establish a dialogue between theories, techniques and practices of Information Science and the field of Audio-description, in relation to actions for digital preservation and safeguarding policies of audio-descriptive informational contents produced by research groups and nuclei of Brazilian federal and state universities. The methodology is developed through qualitative, quantitative and descriptive research, using the dialectical-materialist approach. The research universe is formed by the entirety of the federal and state universities that research and work with Audio-description and Brazilian post-graduate Information Science programs; data collection techniques used were online questionnaires and participant observation, through the research digital environment of the Legatum Sonus et Imago Repository; the procedures applied to the set of collected data were qualitative, based on discourse analysis, as well as tables, charts and other infographics. Among the inhibiting factors observed for the realization of the dialogue between Information Science and Audio-description are: the lack of awareness of most Audiodescription professionals in relation to the expertise of the Information Science area, regarding concepts and applicability of digital preservation actions and of safeguarding policies of the audio-descriptive contents produced by the groups and nuclei of which the Audio-description professionals belong, hindering the development of an effective management of audiovisual acquis, as well as the lack of awareness of Information Science professionals about Audiodescription, its use and relevance for the information of the visually impaired. The positive aspects observed were the importance of Information Science in this dialogue, through the proposed concept of audio-descriptive information, providing the possibility of effective gains in the development of the Audio-description memory, under construction by the analyzed research groups and nuclei, as well as the contribution of Audio-description providing Information Science with the possibility of applying an assistive technology, broadening the opportunities of social inclusion and accessibility for the visually impaired in information units. It is verified, in the results obtained, that the concept of audio-descriptive information, prepared in the epistemological bases of Information Science, is a potential bearer of stimuli for the development of a new scenario for the memory of Brazilian audio-descriptions.

  • The research had as its object of study cognitive science as an aid in the representation of knowledge in the era of industry 4.0. The general objective of the research was to develop parameters for the creation of a dynamic model for the organization of technological information based on cognitive analysis for an organization and representation of knowledge that meets the specificities of industry 4.0. The research encompassed a theoretical-methodological approach with a quali-quantitative approach that emphasizes description, induction, grounded theory and the study of personal perceptions, with quantitative support in statistical analysis. The documentary framework on the representation of knowledge in the industrial area was based on the Microthesaurus published by Senai Departamento Nacional (DN). The bibliographical research aimed at the construction of the theoretical framework had its corpus formed by texts in the areas of information science and cognitive science, which have the proposal to elucidate issues related to the representation, dissemination and dissemination of knowledge, in the light of cognitive science that it supports the analysis of both printed and non-printed materials, and on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is also known as Industry 4.0, among others referenced in the thesis. It is a theoretical research with a qualitative approach. It adopts a theoretical methodological procedure of content analysis, with approaches to qualitative aspects, and descriptive, exploratory and bibliographic research techniques. The subjects of the investigation were the professors and librarians from the Senai Bahia Units and from other regions of Brazil. The data collection instruments used were the closed questionnaire with multiple choices, the tool used was Google Forms. The results of the analysis of the collected information showed that it is important to evaluate the use of a quality technological information organization instrument that meets the company's needs and is capable of offering personalized services to meet its demand in the organization of these data; should be planned using the principles of Industry 4.0. The proposed model was constituted in a spiral, as it represents a cyclical and continuous movement of actions necessary for the development of a system of organization and representation of technological information in the industrial area. The model seeks to combine best practices and trends related to process optimization, using a concept that streamlines the pre-determined phases, in a continuous way, enabling its planning, updating and evaluation of services. The thesis defended is that the technologies arising from industry 4.0 can contribute to the expected innovation in the evolution of software indicated for the use of information representation and organization systems, helping in the development and functionality of the tools used in the area, namely: the taxonomies, ontologies, folksonomy and thesaurus that, in the view of industry 4.0, must be thought of in an integrated manner, taking advantage of the potential of each one, making a system whose main characteristics are integrality, connectivity, cognitivity and interoperability fostered by the technological revolution .

  • Investigation of the subject of Information Security (InfoSec) in the area of Information Science (IS) in Brazil. The general purpose is to study how the IS area address the subject of InfoSec considering the scope of Brazilian federal universities. The specific purposes aimed to: 1) Identify and knowing the contents of texts on InfoSec published between the years 1994 and 2019, which exist among sources specific for this purpose; 2) Survey the theoretical trends that characterize the origins of IS identified in the selected texts on InfoSec in IS, in Brazil; 3) Identify the standards on InfoSec; 4) Investigate the offer of the subject InfoSec, or Information Security Management, or subjects with similar descriptions, offered by the Brazilian federal universities in academic and professional courses of master and doctor degrees in Information Science Post-Graduation Programs and in undergraduate courses in the areas of Archival and Library Sciences, from their respective pedagogic directives. Based on the hypothesis that the subareas of IS (Archival and Library Sciences) and the IS undergraduate courses do not promote the professional higher education properly by failing to offer the contents on InfoSec as a mandatory subject, arguments are presented to defend the thesis that only with the provision of mandatory curricular component related to IS, the area of knowledge of IS will provide adequate higher education. The approach adopted was the deductive method; the techniques of data collection were the indirect documentation (bibliographic research) and the direct documentation (documentary research); the procedure methods applied to what has been collected during the investigation were those of basic treatments (initial selection and basic organization), followed by optimization procedures (final selection, elimination of redundancies and identification of origins of the selected material), with representations organized in tables and infographics resulting from analysis of the data obtained in the surveys performed. The investigation showed that only one of the investigated courses offers InfoSec (or similar) as a mandatory subject, and that the others not even include it in their pedagogic directives. It also revealed the existence of only one research group on the subject. The theories, publications, observations, arguments and analysis gathered herein allowed to demonstrate not only the great relevance and the urgent need to increase the InfoSec research in the area of IS, but also an important gap in the teaching of subjects related to the theme of InfoSec, which is currently deemed to be of essence for the professional qualification in the area of IS

  • The mediation of information consists of an autonomous, dynamic and dialogic process that, through interference, aims at the appropriation of information and contributes to the emancipation of the subject in satisfying his/her informational need. It is considered that the mediating action is directly related to the praxis of the archivist and the librarian and to their level of awareness, and that the surroundings of a contemporary informational scenario bring new challenges to this performance. From this perspective, the role of the mediator of information in the 21st century is questioned and analyzed and how the development of infocommunication skills contributes to the construction of a profile aligned with a conscious performance. Specifically, we sought to elucidate their role, identify the skills required and analyze the elements needed to build their professional profile. As for the methodological procedures, a bibliographical research was carried out to understand the concepts dealt with and develop the theoretical aspect of the research. In empirical terms, there was an observation around the extension course entitled Promoting infocommunication skills in higher education, which was aimed at students from the Archives and Library Science courses at UFBA, in its first edition, and at students from the Library Science course at UFRGS and librarians in the second edition. Thus, the research was carried out with 136 students, in order to analyze the contribution of these skills in the formation of conscious mediators. In this sense, participant observation and the application of a questionnaire were used as data collection techniques, using the observation script and the questionnaire as instruments. Content analysis was also adopted for the purpose of describing and analyzing the data obtained. The results achieved indicate that the development of aesthetic, ethical, political, dialogic, collaborative and otherness aspects related to infocommunication skills can result in an increase in the level of participatory and collaborative awareness of the mediator, as well as leading him to a more critical and proactive, stimulating reflection on their role in the process of appropriation of information and emancipation of the prosumer from the informational universe. Such results lead to the proposition of these elements as necessary for the construction of the information mediator's profile. Therefore, it can be concluded that the role of the information mediator has a social character and aims to contribute to a greater autonomy of the subjects in the process of search, appropriation and critical use of information and is reflected, above all, in education for information. In this sense, it is understood that it is necessary to develop a set of knowledge, skills and attitudes to critically deal with information, communicate and relate to others, deal with technology and its social, political and cultural impact, have a critical and reflective posture around learning itself and its praxis for the construction of a protagonist profile that proves to be essential in the context of a mediation of information aimed at the construction of knowledge, as it gradually leads the mediator to an action more aware.

  • In 2011, Brazil sanctioned the Access to Information Act, which guarantees the circulation of information produced or held in custody by the State, except for those of a personal nature or protected by confidentiality. This legislation regulates active transparency procedures, which establish the publication of open data and passive transparency, which makes the information requested by society available. In this research, only the passive transparency was analyzed, through the requests and responses of citizens’ demands in the electronic Citizen Information Service of the Federal Executive, aiming to analyze how informational literacy contributes to social control, guaranteed to brazilian society by the Access to Information Act. The specific objectives correspond to: a) categorize the informational needs of users of the electronic Citizen Information Service; b) verify the type of specific demand from organized civil society; c) assess the informational competences of the NGO Article 19 and d) propose a model of socioinformational competence for the organizational environment. The methodological design allowed a sequential investigation, starting from the bibliographical-documental research to the case study, at a descriptive level, adopting a quantitative and qualitative approach. The multiple focus of Information Science, Sociology and Public Administration supported the arguments, which together with the empirical data, confirmed the hypotheses. The results show that the individual citizen sought personal and insufficient information for the exercise of social control, while the organized civil society presented the necessary informational competence to do so. Based on the assessment of the NGO Artigo 19, the model of socioinformational competence for the organizational environment complements the parameters proposed by UNESCO, which ends in the monitoring activity, which is insufficient to exercise social control. In order to reduce theoretical and methodological gaps, patents in scientific research, suggestions for new prospects about informational competence in public institutions were announced.

  • The study presented analyzed, based on the curricula and teaching practices in higher education institutions in Brazil, the archivist's formative process focused on the information mediation, in which the aim is to highlight the profile of this professional to deal with the production and access to archival information, the relationship between user versus archival information and informational devices. In order to reach the general objective of this research, some specific objectives were formulated, namely: survey and characterize the undergraduate courses in archival science currently operating in Brazil; survey and describe the curricular components that focus in their contents the information mediation in archival courses; investigate the understanding of coordinators, professors and students of the archival courses studied about the formation of the archivist, with regard to the curriculum (theory and teaching practice) and information mediation; to map the profile of professors and students of archival courses at the higher education institutions studied; and, to delineate confluences between the levels of relevance given to the contents of information mediation in the formation of the brazilian archivist, considering the prescribed and practiced curriculum of the higher education institutions studied. Thus, applied research was adopted, at a descriptive level, characterized in terms of procedures as documentary research, referring to field research as multiple cases, as it deals with brazilian archival courses. Among the data collection techniques, are highlighted the indirect systematic observation, interview and application of an electronic questionnaire, using content analysis that, due to the complexity of the phenomenon, enabled the production of results, in a qualitative and quantitative. The results showed five archival courses, located in the south and southeast of the country, which have specific curricular components that deal with mediation in archives, demonstrating that the theme is gradually inserted in the archival context. The traditionalist conception was observed coexisting with the critical conception, favoring discussions about the graduate's profile to assume a mediating role, focused on the dialogic learning process, critical reflection, social commitment. There was a reasonable gap between the prescribed curriculum and teaching practice, noting that the theoretical and practical foundations of information mediation are approached in an incipient way, associated with cultural action, heritage education, reference service, uses and users and archival diffusion, making it difficult for future archivists to mediate consciously. In conducting the content, it was inferred the effort of teachers to contemplate the dimensions of mediation, emphasizing the dialogic and ethical; and there is an attempt to encourage protagonism, promoting simulated practices, with participatory teaching techniques and formative assessments. The study highlights a need to reformulate the competences of the National Curriculum Guidelines in the area, with a view to consolidating the contents and practices aimed at meeting the informational needs of users and the appropriation of information as a central element; assign parameters for teaching information mediation; and strengthen the relationship with education, in order to prepare professionals who can guarantee services and products for contemporary society and enable learning situations

  • Evasion and retention are complex phenomena that have been increasing and becoming common in higher education courses, justified not only by a component, but also by a set of factors that interfere in the permanence, or not, of students in higher education, which affect the performance of universities and generate social impacts, academic and economic consequences. This study aimed to identify the motivating aspects of dropout and retention in the Library and Documentation Course at the Federal University of Bahia. To reach the indicated objective, the reasons for evasion and retention in higher education in Brazil were fond and the profile of dropout and retained students from the Library and Documentation Course at the Federal University of Bahia was traced. The research was develop in three stages: a bibliographic research, studying raised in the theoretical framework on dropout and retention in higher education; the collection of quantitative data, through the Academic Graduation System and the Statistics and Documentation Center; and the use of questionnaires, to outline the profile of students and identify the causes of dropout and retention of students. From the analysis of the data, it was possible to perceive that the individual factors are the most relevant for evasion, with the lack of identification with the course of the main reason. In the case of retention of the main motivators, the factors are external to the institution, making it difficult to reconcile work and study as the main cause of prolonged stay. Throughout the study, it was found that the motivating aspects of dropout and retention in the Library and Documentation Course at the Federal University of Bahia do not differ from the results found in other studies on the same theme. It is concluded that, a social and academic research, therefore, can foster this investigated phenomenon, in addition to allowing a reflection on the financial, economic and social losses caused by dropout and retention in higher education and contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning in higher education

  • This research intends to infer, from the minutes of the sessions of the University Council (CONSUNI) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), from 1961 to 1971, and the documentation of the newspaper A Tarde corresponding to the same period, as well as through the survey bibliographic and interviews with students and teachers who were present in the institution during the mentioned period, as the UFBA was institutionally positioned regarding the civil-military coup of 1964, which occurred in Brazil. It presents the sectors that supported the overthrow of the hitherto president of the republic, João Goulart. It discusses how Brazilian universities, especially UFBA, lived with the civil-military uprising and the early years of the dictatorship, especially with regard to violations of human rights and curtailment of freedoms. Explains about the concepts of archive, memory and forgetting, correlating them with the theme of this study. In the light of archival studies, it analyzes the minutes of CONSUNI of UFBA from 1961 to 1971, as well as documentation of the newspaper A Tarde relevant to the subject. This research is characterized as an applied case study, containing a qualitative approach. Regarding the data collection procedures, we used the bibliographic and documentary searches. Regarding the technique, interviews were conducted with UFBA staff and students, as mentioned, from the mentioned period. The results showed that most Brazilian universities, including the UFBA, fearing an attack on their autonomy, especially after the overthrow of João Goulart, chose to align themselves ideologically with the Armed Forces coup speech. It is concluded that, especially from the point of view of its decision-making bodies, while recognizing the limits of representative democracy, as well as the political-ideological complexity of a university, UFBA has placed itself in support of that coup.

  • The growing need for information in society leads to the promotion of access to information and, at the same time, restriction to information considered sensitive, such that it may harm the dignity of the human person, as designated by legislation and prioritized in the codes of professional ethics. It is known that the Patient Record (PR) is considered a confidential document, since it contains information about the patient's health, often in its most intimate state of care. It is information that reveals sensitive records of your private life, such as: age, address, religion, sexual option, marital status, among others; or else, a critical diagnosis, which the patient does not want to be revealed or accessed by others. In this regard, it is argued that the implementation of policies, rules and procedures for the management of access to PR in Health Institutions (HI) can reduce the incidence of unauthorized access and its improper handling, considering that not all information is subject to be transmitted, read, accessed or manipulated. This research is characterized as exploratory and descriptive as to the objectives; of an applied nature and quantitative and qualitative approach; its general objective is to verify the implementation of procedures and standards for access to PR in university HI. Thus, its specific objectives are: to identify the method, infrastructure and strategies for accessing sensitive health information; describe the flow of access to PP; examine the qualification and training of employees, assigned to the Patient Record Service (PRS), regarding protection and access to sensitive health information. For this, methodological techniques were used, such as the on-site survey with the application of a printed questionnaire to employees and interviews with those responsible for the prs in three HI Universities. Data analysis was systematized in the categories: access, protection of sensitive information and PRS employees. The empirical results show that the HI use internal rules and procedures, that is, based on the routine of the Institution, but not necessarily based on the brazilian legislation focused on sensitive information and archives; thus, the protection of sensitive health information depends only on factors of the HI internal management to ensure not only the confidentiality and secrecy of the data and information contained in the medical records, but also its authenticity and availability; as for the employees, it was observed that they do not have specific qualifications to deal with this document, therefore, it is suggested that their training be done more frequently and by a qualified archivist in health information. Finally, it was concluded that there is a need to understand and appreciate the importance of PR in HI so that, in this way, restructuring of its management services takes place, adding strategies for the qualification of human resources in order to ensure confidentiality and secrecy sensitive information registered in the PR

  • This thesis investigates the archival ethos in the search for diversity. Based on its theoretical nature, it examines the modern/colonial agenda´s implications in the collective memory´s composition. Then it presents the conditions provided by the insurgent theoretical movements. The plurality favoring constitutive line identifies the Documentation Plan, Total Archives, Documentation Strategy, Macroevaluation and Community Archives. Characterized by their permanent negotiation such initiatives demonstrate: (a) emergence as side effects of Modernity/Coloniality suppression; (b) the sprayed dynamics of eclosion, and; (c) consciousness about the field´s reflexive improvement, indicating its dynamic character. Such particularities enhance their sense of revisiting to establish futures for the multiplicity agenda.

  • The research investigates social responsibility in educational activities promoted by university libraries. In doing so, it conducts an exploratory-descriptive study in the universe of academic public libraries in the State of Ceará, Brazil. In order to achieve the objectives set and assess the established hypothesis, it analyzes the scope of librarian social responsibility based on two perspectives of the educational function of libraries, namely: a) the "user education", a traditional approach, centered on the external and general aspects of the search process information; and b) "information literacy", an integral approach, which includes training in the use of information sources and resources and informational learning, which focus on developing the critical use of information. The study finds out that most of the researched libraries: a) develop educational actions, called "user education"; and b) perform an educational function in an informal and unplanned manner. It is observed that, contrary to the initial thesis, librarians work with the dimension of use (content) of information, teaching specialized subjects on the social inclusion of minorities, doing that alone, or in collaboration with teachers and other content specialists. It's highlighted that this fact although does not mean that they are developing information literacy education, due to the theoretical/practical lack of knowledge about ―information literacy‖, and its implications. It concludes with the positive aspects of the findings, mainly the variety of instructional actions and the openness of librarians to collaborative work with specialist content teachers, which may be so much important than the information literacy barriers that have been already reported in the specialized literature, such as the lack of institutional infrastructure or planning of education program user; they indicate the potential of researched libraries for improving their instructional methods and luckily develop information literacy

  • Due to the increasing demand of students in the condition of visual impairment, which refers to people with low vision or blind, it is required an active posture of the university library (UL) in the promotion of inclusion, at the appropriate planning level that integrates the supply of resources and accessible materials to receive them. In view of this situation, the general objective of the research was to know the conditions of inclusion for people with visual impairment in the libraries of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB), investigating the effectiveness, that is, the concrete effect of the production of the area of Information Science (IS) for the inclusion of these individuals. The IS's proposal is to investigate the properties and flows of information and also to stockpile, retrieve and collect information, and is committed to the benefit of individuals in order to give them access to information regardless of limitations. In this way, it is appropriate to approach inclusion in the scope of IS, since the object of study of this science, information, needs to be accessible to all, including the person with visual impairment (PVI). Regarding the specific objectives of this research, they included: a) to identify the production of IQ in the theme of inclusion of the visually impaired person; b) analyze the effectiveness of IC production for the inclusion of the visually impaired person in UFRB libraries; c) to investigate how UFRB libraries have followed the existing legal frameworks on the inclusion of the visually impaired person; d) map assistive technology (TA) resources used in UFRB libraries; and e) to point out the perception of the visually impaired student about the inclusion in the UFRB libraries. For a precise discussion about the theme, it was necessary to address the appropriate terminology to refer to the POS, and the path taken to reach inclusion, a repertoire from inclusive education, that which defends education as the right of all. As to its nature, the research is descriptive, qualitative and quantitative, and the materialistic dialectic was used as a method of approach, and so the contextualization of the problematic was carried out through history, which made possible the clear understanding of the phenomenon studied and the overall view, guiding aspects of this approach. As a result of the UFRB libraries being the research universe, data were collected through different interview scripts, with the library manager, the Manager of the Nucleus of Inclusion Policies (NUPI) of UFRB and with the students in the condition of visual impairment; and by separate questionnaires, with the attendance staff and with the librarians. In the research it was verified that the production of IS in the theme of inclusion has impacted on UFRB libraries, since TA resources are already used and that librarians and managers have some follow-up of the legal aspects on inclusion. However, the scenario is not yet essentially inclusive, efforts to embrace diversity through inclusive practices still need to be intensified

    This descriptive research, a holistic multiple case study, aims to analyze how IC researchers as a social science conduct research within the MIT paradigm on technology content in the face of the challenges posed by complexity. To this end, it selected 08 units of analysis consisting of 05 ENANCIB events from 2012 to 2016 and the 03 Qualis A1 journals in CI: Informação & Sociedade, Perspectivas em Ciência da Informação and Transinformação, in the same period. From these units, the population chosen for the application of data collection instruments, where the disciplinary phenomenon is investigated, resides in the technology contents - Social Networks, Linked Data, and Big Data - extracted by the inference of their presence in the titles of 2174 studies, precisely 1637 papers and 537 scientific articles. From these, 21 studies were chosen for the qualitative phase, 15 papers and 06 articles. Contrary to the initial assumptions, the efforts made by ANCIB to carry out interdisciplinary work in ENANCIB, in the constitution of Working Groups (WG) that encompass the intersection of IC with various fields of knowledge, are clear and important. Nevertheless the research points to the need for even more incisive interdisciplinary practices to confront the crisis of the analytical model and to meet the imperative of adopting complex thinking. The presence of technology content in all WGs is observed, which not only shows the transversality of technology content in the IC, but also reaffirms the inexorable nature of its connection with the field. The intrinsically inter and transdisciplinary nature is also demonstrated when it is found that in most of the 21 (86%) studies analyzed, there are researchers who have some type of background from the undergraduate degree in library and archivology, masters and doctorate in CI. Finally, CI cannot be encased in its domains, as it has the skills and tools to develop a leading role in information-related issues by improving the founding mathematical logical profile of its researchers.

  • This thesis observes the contributions the black women studies and feminism fields have to offer to the information representation field of studies. Due to the lack of previous studies on the theme, this research adopts for analysis the literature oftwo Afro-Brazilian authors: Úsula of Maria Firmina and Ponciá Vicencio of Conceição Evaristo. As a research problem, the study consisted in the investigation of documentary languages, due to the lack of terminological adjustments of the controlled vocabularies, in order to contemplate the terms of black feminism and black women studies. In light of this scenario, the following question has arisen: How can black feminist literature reveal the need for terminological adjustments of the current documentary languages? The general objective of the research was to analyze how black feminist literature can reveal the need for documentary languages to adapt to terminologies in the instruments of information representation. As specific objectives this research aimedto raise and to sumarize the representative terms of the black feminist literature of the XIX and XXI centuries and the current documentary languages; to identify the relevance of the controlled vocabularies and specific thesauri adopted in the black feminist literature and of the documentary languages available for use and besides proposing the insertion and updating of new languages and terminologies regarding black feminism and black women studies. The research opted for epistemological clipping based on the perspective of authors of social representation, postcolonial black feminism and information representation, the methodology of the monographic descriptive research employs the qualitative method of Yin’s case study and analysis of contente by Bardin. Regarding the analytical tools employed, Iramuteq's free analysis of textual data software was used by means of textual fragmentation, categorization of textual fragments based on concepts, providing reports and graphs of word counts and correlations using lexicometrics. The controlled vocabularies of the authority catalogs of the National Library of Brazil, Library of Congress, specific thesauri such as the vocabulary of Mujeres de Madrid and a controlled vocabulary developed by the Carlos Chagas Foundation for gender relations and women were used to verify the the existence of descriptors appropriate to the theme and approximate representation of the informational content. The results indicated that the representation of the information lacks the terminology closer to the perspective of black women in the context of feminism, that some terms were outdated and the need to update the instruments of representation, that is thesauri and controlled vocabularies used in the process of natural language translation for the controlled language and that contemplates specificities before the approach of the social paradigm acting under the perspective of the subjectivity of the subjects tied to historical, cultural and social contexts of the world. The final considerations remarked the need to update and insert more appropriate terms on the specifics of black feminism and/or black women studies.

  • During the military dictatorship in Brazil, a period marked by the suppression of
    constitutional rights, authoritarianism, censorship and lack of democr acy, the state controlled
    the information that was disclosed. Although the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of
    1948 highlights access to information as a fundamental right of citizens and the Federal
    Constitution (CF) of 1988 guarantees this right, on ly with the Law of Access to Information
    (LAI), No. 12.527, 2011. , this right gained strength. In line with these changes, the federal
    government regulated the opening of public data through Decree No. 8.777 / 2016. This
    commitment to public information p olicies obliges all public agencies to foster the culture of
    active and passive transparency, which includes making data available in open formats and
    non proprietary standards. Open Data refers to the publication and dissemination of
    information on the In ternet that is in raw format, prepared for access to and use by all. They
    thus allow for greater transparency of government, creating better possibilities for control of
    government actions and not only limited to the fight against corruption and spending c ontrol,
    but also to guarantee the qualities of the information available to evaluate public policies. In
    this scenario, information professionals must be engaged in the role of informing, which
    includes the intersection between information, state and socie ty. Therefore, this research
    aimed to: general characterize, based on the Information Science literature, the role of
    information professionals in the light of the Open Data Policy, as well as their role in the
    applicability of the Law on Access to Infor mation (LAI) For the methodological approach,
    we chose as an instrument for data collection the online questionnaire following the model of
    the Likert Scale. As it is a qualitative exploratory research, the data analysis was performed
    using the Paraconsis tent Logic technique, in order to treat situations involving uncertainty,
    inaccuracy and vagueness in the analyzed procedures, avoiding interpretative failures. The
    data revealed that, despite the numerous possibilities for information professionals to act in
    the effectiveness of the Open Data Policy, their passivity in this process influences external
    and internal issues. And even recognizing the importance of their praxis, some do not feel
    prepared to play this role. Thus, it is clear that, although progr ess is made, access to public
    information in a clear and comprehensive manner is still something to be fully achieved in the
    legislatures of the city of Salvador, Bahia.

  • The research comes from the prerogatives of extension projects and the informational circulation and reception process of individuals who are from communities in a state of social vulnerability, based on discussions regarding the subject 's otherness and affectivity. In order to ensure the development of the investigation, we have chosen, as an example, the Project entitled "My house, our lives: Building the Sustainable Territorial Development Plan Residential Bosque das Bromélias / Salvador - BA". Thus, the objective of this research was to analyze how the extension projects of the Federal University of Bahia interfere in the informational circulation and reception process of individuals who are from communities in a state of social vulnerability in the city of Salvador. The specific objectives sought to: (a) describe the social activities included in the analyzed project in order to comprehend the informational dynamics in the construction of the subject; (b) to profile the subjects assisted by the studied project to demonstrate how the information were processed and produced during the project, highlighting the Federal University of Bahia social responsibility, through the worked information ensemble and; (c) to characterize the information production and reception, in extensionist activities and the perceptions of the resident individuals in the habitational complex. The methodological procedures were based on the method of monographic procedure (case study/illustrative case), level of descriptive research, investigation techniques and instruments, emphasizing the direct observation and the interview script, as well as the field journal. We sought, in the results presentation and discussion, to contextualize the crisis of the public university in contemporary times, the direct consequences in the academic extension activities and in the academic researches. Considering what was analyzed, the results showed the importance of university extension as a tool that can direct subjects to be critical, reflective, creative, attentive to the dynamics of reality contributing to the struggle for social equality, citizenship and the continuity of democracy. In the final considerations, the research revealed that the university needs urgently to assume the social protagonist role, and face any threats related to extension activities; that Information Science can provide different perspectives concerning the informational circulation and reception of individuals linked to communities of vulnerability, thus fulfilling one of its social inclusion functions.

  • The theories and practices of Archivology in collaboration with Information Technologies allow to facilitate the access to the digital audiovisual collections. To verify this effects of archival theory on digital access to audiovisual documentation, this work was carried out. Six public institutions located in the city of Salvador, BA, Brazil, were evaluated in which the availability practices, digitization processes and means of preservation of the audiovisual document were evaluated. We observe that there is a use of practices in institutions to provide the access to the audiovisual document. Only two of the six institutions had a policy of access to digital audiovisual documents. Of the six institutions surveyed, five do not have Archivists in their professional staff. Thus, it is possible to conclude that institutions do not have an access policy and do not practice archival techniques and theories for digital accessfor in digital environments, but have minimal structures to enable local access. In addition, they do not employ archival professionals in their management activities of preservation and availability of digital access to audiovisual documents.

  • The thematic treatment of information carried out in university libraries aims to prepare the document for public access through systematic processes of analysis, synthesis and representation. This theme raised with the objective to investigate the difficulties that indexing librarians face during the process of thematic representation of theses and dissertations, from the use of controlled vocabulary adopted in the university library. As a methodological approach, we chose the descriptive research, whose field considered the selection of 36 brazilian universities that are part of the 2019 ranking, published by the British Higher Education Consultancy (The Times Higher Education), which lists the 1,100 best universities in the world. Among these, after defining criteria, the target population for application of the data collection instrument was represented by 28 brazilian federal and state public university libraries. As data collection technique, we used the electronic questionnaire, sent via institutional email to the indexing librarians. Of the 28 (100%) questionnaires applied, 19 (68%) answered and 9 (32%) did not comment. The results obtained revealed that in university libraries that have a regulated indexing policy and their own controlled vocabulary, the respondents' complaint that stands out is the difficulty in translating new subjects arising from scientific research, recorded in theses and dissertations. In libraries that do not have an indexing policy or their own controlled vocabulary, the difficulties reported by indexing librarians mainly refer to the absence of guidelines to guide the indexing process. However, the results showed that even in libraries that have their own controlled vocabulary, there are problems regarding the lack of specificity of new terms arising from scientific research. Similarly, in libraries that use controlled vocabulary built outside the terminological culture of scientific producers and researchers, indexers also reported difficulties with the use of inappropriate languages in the thematic representation of information.

  • This master's dissertation presents the characteristics of the National Program for the Protection of Sensitive Knowledge within the scope of an information policy, in particular, information security, intelligence and archives policies, from the perspective of Information Science. It understands that sensitive knowledge is a concept that arises to protect information that has no classified classification, but needs to be protected by strategic political, social and economic issues. If disseminated, sensitive knowledge could endanger the security of the state, its institutions and society. It suggests that the National Program for the Protection of Sensitive Knowledge, an institutional program of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency, may be characterized as an information protection policy, but for bureaucratic reasons it can only be recognized through a decree from the Security Office. Presidency of the Republic. It points out that the State that does not implement policies of adequate treatment to the information has little conditions to protect its sensitive knowledge. The National Program for the Protection of Sensitive Knowledge presents itself as an efficient program and well evaluated by partner institutions, although it still does not have a solid bibliography on the subject. Thus, by guaranteeing the rights of access to information, according to the 2011 Law on Access to Information, this paper concludes that the protection of sensitive knowledge could be more effective for strengthening public agencies and companies if it acted as a policy government information.

    ABSTRACT


    The research of the bibliographic type, is explained in the search of an understanding for the variable about the information path under the vision of the preservation and the conservation of audiovisual documents in the context of a television station in Bahia, specifically the Edu- cative Television. from Bahia. As in the Brazilian television environment, the question of how to preserve long-term and continuous audiovisual documents is a phenomenon not yet consol- idated in the literature of the area and little investigated by Information Science, the purpose of this case study is to explore the actions and / or guidelines necessary for the preservation and / or conservation of the audiovisual documentation of Bahia's Educational Television making it available for future broadcasting. In this study, field research was carried out using observation to understand reality in relation to the preservation situation and conservation of TVE Bahia audiovisual documents. The information gathering procedure was carried out in two phases, during the survey of preservation and conservation conditions with the aid of a checklist and in the interviews carried out using a semi-structured questionnaire applied to the librarian and two staff members. of the information unit. The results obtained reported that, in the Bahia Educational Television, there is still no conservation and / or preservation plan for its already consolidated audiovisual documentation. The research also revealed that the ab- sence of satisfactory means of preservation and conservation throughout TVE Bahia's docu- mentary cycle may condemn the broadcaster's audiovisual legacy to oblivion and / or total disappearance. In this sense, the last chapter presented some viable guidelines to conserve and preserve it, aiming at improving and favoring access to documents, and contributing to the retrieval of the broadcaster's memory, in order to make it available for diffusion on the Inter- net. future.

  • This work, entitled “Requirements for computerized archival management systems”, aims to analyze the conformity of the Integrated System of Patrimony, Administration and Contracts (SIPAC) of the Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES) in Bahia, in relation to the functionalities of the security requirements, storage and preservation, proposed by e-Arq Brazil and the aspects of institutional infrastructure, digital document management and technology, technical infrastructure and security, recommended by CONARQ, Resolution 43, that guarantee the authenticity and custody chain of the generated and stored documents. The IFES archival documents are products of teaching, research, extension and innovation activities to achieve the institutional mission. Documents of this nature serve to support the administration in making decisions, and; as a source of legal evidence, guarantee of citizens' rights and memory of the IFES. The adoption of integrated and computerized management systems by IFES challenges the areas of archives and information technologies in the search for solutions for the preservation of the custody chain of digital documents through requirements that guarantee the reliability and authenticity of informational records by necessary deadlines. The research has a qualitative and quantitative approach; in relation to the objectives it is exploratory and descriptive, the procedures are bibliographic, documentary, case studies and empirical survey. A structured questionnaire was applied to servers located in the information technology units and in the file and protocol units. The results show that SIPAC does not have the necessary requirements for the custody chain of the documents generated and stored in accordance with the RDC - Arq. Based on the analysis carried out, it is recommended that the managers of the IFES of Bahia: assimilate the relevance of the policies of institutional information and the insertion of guidelines aimed at procedures, techniques and principles of archival management of documents in Institutional Development Panels; understand that integrated management systems are management information systems and those, within a telematic society, are in the condition of computerized management systems, however, not all management information systems are in the condition of an integrated management system; articulate the areas of information technology and files and protocols in the search for solutions for the authenticity of records and their maintenance in reliable chains of custody; disseminate that an efficient and effective management information system for the IFES is in the condition of an integrated and computerized management system in accordance with the requirements and aspects of authenticity of informational records and their maintenance in a chain of custody.

  • In its origins Archivology had his efforts focused in empirical works without the concerns to reflects about on the knowledge produced. That tradition contributed to consolidation of his academic field. However this process left maks that influenced until now. Recently in Brazil was triggered a process that seeks to produce Theoretical knowledge in pursuit for the improvement of the field. From this context the following question was consolidated: is the paradigmatic rupture pointed by archivist’s books is among the discussion promoted in Conselho Nacional de Arquivos [National Council of Archives] (CONARQ)? In search for this this answer following general objective is indicated: To understand the process of transformation of Archivology and the discuss of CONARQ about the new paradigms pointed out by Archival and Information Science literature. It is divided into the following specific objective: To identify and analyze the discussion and theoretical discourses presented by Archivology regarding paradigmatic conceptions; To investigate the discussions regarding the insertion of new technologies for archives held in the plenary of the CONARQ from 1994 to 2017 and in its Câmara Técnica de Documentos eletrônicos [Technical Chamber of Electronic Documents] (CTDE) in 2003 until 2017; To identify the transformations of the discussions carried out within the scope of CONARQ over time, in relation to the transformations pointed out by the archival literature. To achieve the proposed objectives the method used was the bibliographic and documentary research. Through bibliographic research questions related to the discussion of paradigms in Archivology were identified and analyzed. The documentary research was done in the minutes of the CONARQ plenary and its CTDE using content analysis as a technique through which terms related to technology (in the case of CTDE) were extracted and the debates regarding the insertion of new technologies in archives (in case of the plenary) were grouped, composing the material to be analyzed. That way the research found that: a)There is a mismatch between the national literature and the discussions promoted by CONARQ with respect to new technologies in archives; b) In Brazil unlike others countries, technology isn’t the main factor that brings to a paradigmatic rupture and policies actions. In this case, policies itself is the determining factor. c)The CONARQ and National Archive aren’t acknowledge and know by strategic sectors of the Government, which cause communication impairments among them to be. At last it’s recommended to carry out new researches from the minutes of CONARQ and to conduct field researches. in order to formulate knowledge from the realities of archiving in Brazil and the need to think of an archivology that keeps glances on political aspects. of the national scenario, worrying about building knowledge from this scenario.

  • The theme of this work is the content analysis of Pedro Calmon's personal archive, through his correspondence between the years 1964 and 1966. Pedro Calmon, seen through his personal archive, impresses with the extent and quality of its content, standing out as a true heritage for the memory of Bahian and Brazilian culture. The general objective of the research was to understand how Pedro Calmon had his participation in the registered cultural, academic and political contexts. Regarding the specific objectives of this research, they included: a) collecting the correspondences of Pedro Calmon written between the years 1964 and 1966, filed at the Centro de Memória da Bahia, of the Pedro Calmon Foundation; b) to read critically the correspondences of Pedro Calmon between the years 1964 and 1966, from the materialities found; c) describe and present Pedro Calmon's correspondences, based on archival concepts and content analysis, aiming at their understanding, preservation and dissemination; and d) publicize and elucidate the role played by Pedro Calmon as an intellectual, academic and politician in the period from 1964 to 1966. To build a transdisciplinary discussion, we used the rhizome metaphor as logic so that we would not commit a process of hierarchization of the different areas knowledge used in research. Regarding the classification of the research, it can be identified as bibliographic and documentary, and content analysis was used as a method, which consists of a set of communication analysis techniques that aims to obtain, by systematic and objective procedures of content description messages, indicators (quantitative or not) that allow the inference of knowledge related to the production / reception conditions (inferred variables) of these messages. Research has shown that a personal file, and more specifically its correspondence, reveals the behavior, contradictions and networks of sociability of the holder of the file. As main results it was possible: to recognize the roles played by Pedro Calmon as an intellectual; unveil their sociability networks by relating the subjects, positions and genders with whom they dialogued; what main objectives of your dialogues; and their roles played in culture, academia and politics in Bahia, Brazil and internationally.

  • The present thesis has differentiated the concepts and notions of 'preservation' and 'safeguard' by making a conceptual proposal for the last one. Specifically, it was observed: a) the recognition of these notions and of the digital repositories, and in the pertinent archival legislation; b) the identification of the concepts together with the oral communications of the annals of the National Meeting on Information Science, from 1994 to 2017; c) the establishment of specificities and concepts; d) the elaboration of a conceptual proposal for the term safeguard. Methodologically, it was chosen the hypothetical-deductive approach, referring to the technique of indirect documentation, qualitative, documentary and thematic, comparative along with quantitative analysis methodological procedures. The analysis of the data has shown that the term 'safeguard' has not been explicitly used in the set of normative documents. The recognition of obscurity and inconsistency in the use of the terms 'preservation' and 'safeguard', identified as synonyms, was highlighted. In the survey and examination of the oral communications of the National Meeting of Information Science, a 'gap' was recognized regarding the conceptual delimitation of 'preservation' and 'safeguard'. The designations and meanings assumed by the term preservation - related to the digital space - accentuated the understanding that its dimensions, stipulated from the constituent elements, located in studies and research, determine an intrinsic relation with the term 'safeguard', bringing semantic references that confer singularity to each of them. It was proposed, conceptually, that the digital safeguard is the guarantee of the preservation of the information content, born digital, through the use of methodologies, standards and preservation metadata, governed by the legislation, that guarantee a long term management, access and preservation. It is understood that the terminology Digital File Preservation Repository should designate digital environment, with a view to the management and preservation of digital information, through metadata (preservation), inserted in appropriate infrastructure and hardware and protected by 'guarantees', highlighting Digital Safeguard Policies. The present study refers to the indication of a potential epistemic space for the consolidation of the concept of 'digital safeguard' in the area of Information Science

  • This thesis deals with the development of Infocomunicational competences, analyzed from the Internet, in relation to ICT development indicators in Brazil and Colombia, in a comparison process, in which ICTs are related to indicators of information and communication skills. For the above, we study how these competences are developed over a period of time, with the ICT results of each country. The indicatorsreported by Brazil and Colombia are taken in their annual ICT reports, together with the directives of UNESCO, to generate a comparative matrix that allows to understand the evolution by country, with its similarities or differences, using the Kmeans algorithm, used in machine learning, to generate behavior graphs, for a specific group of ICT variables associated with competencies. Additionally, the thesis shows how the regulations influenced the periods analyzed, and their effects for the competences. In addition to identifying the moments where variants were presented, crossing political and normative periods, in order to understand the phenomenon from a more general perspective, in order to have a basis to make the comparison proposed from the beginning. In the process it is possible to approximate the UNESCO guidelines to ICT indicators, although in the comparison and analysis significant differences are identified in the form and in the variables that each country uses in its process of monitoring the evolution of the Internet, which affects the way in which competences are analyzed. In the end, a comparison is made, and moments of variation of the indicators are determined in relation to the competences, on the other hand in the process it is understood that there are other elements that should be considered in thesis projects of this type, mainly in relation with the source of data and times, because we speak of countries, not of closed groups, as well as of the process of data processing. In this treatment process machine learning techniques were used, used in other areas such as computing, and which were interesting for the purification process and subsequent construction of comparative graphs, being a new technique for this type of work, since it allows to sustain the validity or not of the data, as well as its possible flaws. The comparative process is divided into an independent review of each country, and an approach from ICT indicators to competencies, ending with a comparison of common indicators between the two countries, which incorporates periods of government, together with regulations, continuing with a revision to Through a cloud of words of the resolutions or laws that were contemplated in this work and that are considered related to the development of Internet in each country.

  • The digital book integrates the process of convergence of informational technologies,
    involving a complexity of factors related to this artifact's concept, production, marketing,
    selection, circulation and availability in the network society. This research assumes that
    current business models do not satisfactorily meet the criteria for the free acquisition of digital
    books, respecting the interests and needs of university library users. Given this scenario, the
    general objective is to develop parameters for a digital book management model in these
    libraries, considering its free acquisition. As specific objectives we sought to characterize the
    business models of technical-scientific digital books currently marketed; verify the flow of the
    digital book acquisition process; identify the main platform-generated indicators of digital
    books use; and propose a model prototype that assists the decision making of university
    libraries regarding the implementation of a management model for the digital book. The
    research is descriptive with a qualitative methodological approach. For data analysis, a
    triangulation of methods was performed: initially, direct observation of Brazilian public
    universities websites allowed to limit the research locus to the Federal University of Bahia's
    Library System; secondly, qualitative and quantitative methods were applied, such as
    documentary analysis, interview and field research, in addition to covert participant
    observation as a method applied to computer-mediated research. The results show there was a
    growth in the presence of digital book in Brazilian public university libraries, identifying the
    perpetual purchase business model as the most sustainable, in terms of guaranteeing the
    access to collections service, in relation to the subscription business model. They also indicate
    that university libraries do not have their own business models for eBook management,
    leading to adherence to the business model of publishers or aggregators and implying the
    acceptance of parametrizations (licensing, pricing) defined by the value chain agents:
    producer (author) - editor - aggregator. Finally, they indicate that the currently offered eBook
    business models still require a systemic review. It is recommended to work in cooperation
    networks and / or consortia that can ensure a better positioning of university libraries in the
    book value chain and proposes, as the final product of the thesis, a multidimensional model
    with parameters for the management of digital books in university libraries. This model
    attempts to address the free acquisition and circulation of digital collections while respecting
    the interests and needs of university library users

    ABSTRACT: This thesis aimed to analyze the scientific production of researchers in Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) in Brazil and their convergence with the National Health Plan of Brazil (PNS) (2016 to 2019). The production analysis period was 2015, the year of preparation of the PNS, and 2018, the last year of closed production of teachers. Partial data from 2019 were obtained aiming to prospect elements of the near future of the field. To achieve the overall objective, the following specific objectives were set: to recognize the challenges in NTDs in Brazil in institutional documents and information sources, such as the PNS; identify researchers, research institutes and graduate programs (PPGs) dedicated to the field of NTDs in Brazil; map the knowledge production of researchers involved with NTDs from data stored in the CNPq Lattes Platform; draw an overview of the scientific production selected from scientific indicators: networks, production and themes; to verify if the themes of Brazilian NTD publications are aligned with the challenges recognized by the institutional sources, especially the PNS. From the methodological point of view, the research is of a scientific nature, based on the foundations of dialectical materialism and domain analysis. The research trail consisted of the following steps: 1) Data collection, the universe was identified, composed of 2719 researchers linked to PPGs from Medicine II and National Institutes of Science & Technology (INCTs), both having links with NTDs, and Fiocruz doctor servers. With this, data were extracted using the ScriptLattes tool; 2) Organization and treatment of information, representative terms were elaborated based on the Health Sciences Descriptors System of the Virtual Health Library and bibliometric processing; 3) Verification of the convergence of scientific production with social needs in NTDs; 4) Analysis of Qualis and of scientific journals; and 5) Data representation from statistical and visualization techniques. As main results it was possible to: reinforce the prominent role of Fiocruz, PPGs and INCTs, mapping their researchers and verifying aspects of scientific production, such as productivity, collaboration and themes worked; perceive a tendency towards stabilization in the large production of journal articles, to verify the decrease in book production and the decrease in the papers presented in congresses, as a result of the policies of scientific evaluation and regulation, also related to the reduction of investments in Education and Science; identify the high degree of collaboration presented by the group; note the leading role, collaborativity and high productivity of CNPq productivity fellows. Concerning the convergences, a strong alignment was observed between some NTDs studied by the researchers and the PNS, mainly: leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, dengue, leprosy, schistosomiasis and Chikungunya fever. Other problems were discussed only in scientific production, revealing the greater capillarity and coverage capacity of the scientific segment, for example: snake bite, helminthiasis, lymphatic filariasis, among other diseases. In this section, it was also possible to map a set of ultra-neglected diseases, which are little treated in the scientific environment and disregarded in the main policies.

  • This paper presents the informational flows and competencies of the actors involved in the formulation of a Public Health Policy, by the State Health Council of the State of Bahia, due to its relevance for the consolidation of the rights of Brazilian citizens. The process of formulating this policy has requirements such as compliance with demand, stakeholder involvement, negotiation for entry into the government agenda, among others. But these requirements are not always respected, such as the legal requirements for compliance with the Access to Information Act and the achievement of e-government goals. Such items are necessary to consolidate access to information as a duty of the state and citizens' rights in democratic countries, such as Brazil, where there is a public health policy, the Unified Health System, formed by information subsystems, to ensure information necessary for the functioning of public health policies. The State Council of Health of the State of Bahia was chosen as a case study, as it is a place of participation with representatives of various health segments: managers, providers, workers and users, actors responsible for the cycle of a public health policy and its social control. Some factors, such as the diversity of health information subsystems, the inconsistency of information and the lack of training of professionals, are problems in the global system of a public health policy. The general objective is to analyze the informational flows and competencies of the actors involved in the process of formulating a public health policy of the State Health Council of the State of Bahia. Thus, the following specific objectives were defined: to articulate the Law on Access to Information, eGovernment and the Council; identify information flows and competencies among the actors involved and propose a specific informational competency model for this Board. The research is documentary, bibliographical, empirical and descriptive with mixed approach, adequate to the understanding of this social phenomenon. In information retrieval, keywords are used: public health policies, Law on access to information, electronic government, informational flows, informational competencies and the State Health Council of the State of Bahia, adopting search strategies in databases. data, such as scielo, capes journal portal, library and information science abstracts, web of science and scopus, and others, in the areas of information science, law, sociology, public policy and public health. Data collection was obtained through the documentation of the Board and the direct observation of meetings of that body, from 2016 to 2018. Finally, the content analysis was applied to the selected documentary corpus, from the registration units. , social control, government, information, public policy and network, as they are the most significant, while data allowing effective control. It is hoped that the results obtained may support improvements in the access, use and dissemination of health information, considering that health is a matter of citizen interest and fundamental right, enshrined in the Federal Constitution of 1988, the Access to Information Law and other e-government laws.

  • This study presents the contribution of Information Science to the elaboration of scientific and technological information prospecting studies, aiming at supporting decision making, considering that its content cont ributes significantly to the construction and analysis of scientific and technological indicators of quality and quality reliability over technological development, which enables researchers and decision makers to gain insight into the state of the art of protected technologies and their potential for innovation. Professionals from different areas perform these studies and few are the information professionals directly involved in their performance, being limited to the provision of bibliographic references , resulting from searches in specialized databases and databases. The objective of this paper is to analyze the effective contribution of the Information Science field to the technological prospection activity, using methods and techniques of search and re trieval of scientific and technological information, focused on the development of Science, Technology and Innovation. The methodological strategy used is based on the assumptions of Information Science and the research typology is classified as a document ary research, in a combined approach of qualitative and quantitative nature, considered adequate to achieve the objectives set. Still regarding its nature, it is an applied research, with the objective of generating knowledge to solve specific problems in the technological areas of three SENAI Innovation Institutes (ISI), implemented at the Integrated Center for Manufacturing and Technology (SENAI CIMATEC), which were defined as the population universe. For the selection of the areas of knowledge, we used a s sampling those evaluated by the Greater Brazil Plan (PBM) and the National Program of Knowledge Platforms (PNPC) focusing on the areas of expertise of ISI / SENAI CIMATEC. The results prove that the Information Science contributes in this theme, through the metric studies of the information that demonstrate potentialities for the construction and analysis of scientific and technological indicators of quality and reliability. It also presents the need for information professionals to acquire new skills and abilities in the search, retrieval, compatibility, analysis and selective dissemination of technological information, which may support decision making in the organizational context in strategic management and in research, development and research projects innovation. This study contributed to the epistemological consolidation of Information Science, wishing to expand its field of action through a complementary approach and emphasizes the need to update the skills of the information professional, valuing h is activity as a fundamental mediator in the dynamics of technological prospecting studies with value -added information.

  • Within the perspective of information mediation, this doctoral research is located in the empirical field of thematic and descriptive representation of information, a sub-area that has been developing and gaining new contours in the scenario of this scientific field. It establishes as research object the implicit mediation of information, category of information mediation activity, sub-area that has also experienced significant advances, with special contribution of the Brazilian researcher Oswaldo Francisco de Almeida Júnior, with the formulation of the concept of information mediation, situating and defining the implicit (indirect) mediation activities adopted in this investigation. The research aims to identify outlines that show characteristics of implicit mediation activity within contemporary approaches and highlights in the sub-area of thematic and descriptive representation of information, having as a specific objective to identify the types of studies, research and authors; to verify possible categories and attributes of implicit mediation that have been worked on in contemporary Brazilian research, besides identifying the perspectives of greater theoretical exposition of the mediating nature of the activities of this subarea and their authors. To address the subject, it presents a literature review that focuses on information representation and information mediation. From the methodological point of view, the research is characterized by being descriptive and bibliographic, using techniques of content analysis, discourse analysis and documentary analysis, with qualitative and quantitative approach, having as its universe the Brazilian production of journal articles, papers presented in ENANCIB, ISKO and ENACAT national congresses, theses and dissertations, as well as book chapters on information representation published by Brazilian researchers from 2012 to 2017. For data collection, a conceptual analysis form was prepared for recording information extracted from the analyzed literature. The results obtained through content analysis showed that the term and the concept of mediation are still used incipiently. However, with the aid of discourse analysis and documentary analysis, it was possible to observe that the dialogical relationship between the two sub-areas, yet with great caution, is being constructed, especially since it has been identified that part of the studies and research analyzed begin to address implicit mediation attributes. Another result indicates a tendency on the part of researchers of the thematic and descriptive representation that have been organizing collections of texts in which they incorporate peer production from the information mediation subarea, seeking to bring discussions closer to the two subareas. Thus, in the research it was found that there are overlapping points in the two subareas, which, even with this approach not yet resulting in more systematic collaboration between researchers of the two sub-areas, are leading to what can be considered as advances in the dialogue between them. Therefore, it is believed that this thesis contributes to point out that there is a promising context for the strengthening of the constructive dialogue between researchers working on these themes, which may also mean a contribution to the advancement in the understanding of the basic and sustaining processes of mediating actions in the field Information Science.

  • The research aimed to analyze the training of higher education teachers who graduated from the Brazilian Graduate Programs in Information Science (PPGCI), investigating the contributions of stricto sensu courses in CI in Brazil to the didactic and pedagogical training of teachers in higher education. To achieve this aim, the programs, disciplines and / or activities that contribute to higher education teacher training were mapped, identifying those related to didactic and pedagogical activities in the classroom. In addition, there was an understanding of the teachers who graduated from these programs on the relevance of this training in the perspective of the knowledge and practices of teaching learned during the course at the PPGCI. The research was characterized as applied, whose predominant approach was the qualitative and the descriptive level, due to the nature of the object. From the universe surveyed, the professors who graduated from the Brazilian PPGCIs analyzed participated and as a source of data collection, the curricular matrices of the courses and their respective menus, the participants' lattes curriculum and information from the questionnaire applied to the teachers were used. To analyze the data, three thematic categories were created: Characterization of the participants, Teacher training in the Postgraduate Programs in Information Science and University teaching, in order to facilitate the interpretation and discussion of the results. The results showed that there are still gaps in the training process of teachers in the PPGCI, since the contents to qualify the teachers of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are ineffective, considering that the contents on didactic and pedagogical knowledge of the analyzed subjects are approached superficially. It was found that the training / teaching internship is one of the few possibilities for bringing graduate students closer to the teaching practices in the classroom, however, in most programs this component is found in the framework of optional subjects and / or activities, with the exception of a few isolated cases. The research demonstrated the need for studies that seek to expand the possibilities of Information Science to strengthen the field of action of the HEI teacher in stricto sensu graduate programs and to encourage public actions and / or policies for this purpose, with the aim of creating a culture that implies the continuous exercise of thinking about the practices of these professionals. In view of the results, it is recommended that the PPGCI promote discussions on the theme addressed, in order to expand the scope and valuation of this training, legitimized by the institutions responsible for implementing policies aimed at this purpose. Thus, it is necessary that the PPGCI understand their responsibility to provide graduates with a solid theoretical-practical training, considering teaching as a social action and a multifaceted process that requires specific knowledge, in addition to those related to experience, content, general knowledge, among others. It is necessary that public educational policies, by means of legal instruments, enforce the determinations imposed and / or create specific legislation for the training of high school teachers, in order to expand the knowledge inherent to the profession.

  • Interdisciplinary approaches have been used in the field of Knowledge Organization. These approaches have made it possible to collaboratively develop methods and incorporate models from other fields of knowledge, which have led to the creation of new methodological applications. Within this context, the conceptual structure of academic studies from a given field of knowledge was analyzed. These studies were published on academic social network sites based on an analytical approach of complex social networks, using a knowledge representation system, or semantic network, to maximize the potential of the representation of scientific knowledge in these environments and discover possible thematic interconnections and the semantic behavior of said field. This study can be classified with regard to its approach, both qualitative and quantitative, and its objectives. It is an exploratory and descriptive study, as it seeks to observe the phenomenon under study, and thus discover new perceptions, information and analytical methods relating to that phenomenon. It is also experimental as the information analysis techniques used in this type of study were nonconventional. The technical procedures for data collection and analysis and the development of this study were based on two premises, the first conceptual, and the second technological. For the former, specific controlled vocabulary was used to categorize the field of knowledge analyzed. For the latter, software programs were used that best suited the reality of this study, as well as the theoretical bases of Computer Science, focusing on Graph Theory and social network analysis. The corpus selected to research this study was the academic social network site, ResearchGate. The sample consisted of 3,332 (three thousand, three hundred and thirtytwo) academic papers published on this site, extracted from the profiles of 324 (three hundred and twenty-four) professors from 18 (eighteen) Information Science Post-graduate Programs, from the field of Information Science in Brazil. The topological characterization of the experimental network that was created was identified as a small-world network, suggesting a convergence in the interconnection of the concepts that make up the network, which are represented and organized around a central component. The experiments that led to the construction of semantic network analysis guidelines suggest that a continuum exists in the relationship between concepts in the field of Information Science, specifically when interdisciplinarity and the evolution of scientific research have allowed the concepts developed by a scientific community to expand, to include other characteristics and to create new verbal forms. Within this context, a general structure was created for the application of the guidelines to analyze emerging concepts on academic social network sites and the representation of scientific information, in order to contribute to the organization of the information distributed on these sites.

  • The present work discusses the study of the access to the information contained in a database
    denominated WEBSISMEDICOS, the product of Professor Zeny Duarte's postdoctoral studies
    in collaboration with Professor Armando Malheiro. The function of the system is to provide
    information regarding the storage of data not only related to the profession, but also about life,
    work, thought, personal archives (cultural and artistic productions) and memories of doctors
    from Portugal and Brazil going far beyond of medicine. In Brazil, beginning in Bahia and, later,
    extending the capture of information to the doctors of the Community of Portuguese Speaking
    Countries (CPLP). The model follows the Mediawiki collaborative platform as an open space
    for data entry by the doctors themselves and by people interested in updating it. We present
    conceptual approaches on personal archives (particular documentary collections), information,
    digital technology, post-custodial paradigm, interdisciplinarity, web platform, collaborative
    platforms, information architecture, Wikimedia. The WEBSISMEDICOS demonstrated in
    Mediawiki, accompanies theoretical and conceptual understanding of what is expected of a
    collaborative platform. We introduce the new interface of WEBSISMEDICOS on Mediawiki,
    with the database converted to MYSQL using PHP and HTML. The methodology adopted was
    the literature review and application of experimental procedures. We highlight the filling of
    new data and the inclusion of medical doctors with the use of a new interface. In the current
    stage of this research, two barriers have been overcome: one that refers to the geographic
    limitation surpassed by the Internet; and the other that allows user action in a collaborative way,
    in this case, medical doctors and related people, expanding the quantitative proposition of filling
    the information system of medical doctors and their reliability. The access to information
    through the Internet, the tool with the greatest reach available for this study, was positive
    because we found a quantitative proposal of updating the WEBSISMEDICOS, with unlimited
    power of data and accesses able to surpass the technological transpositions of this network
    society

  • The analysis of police information is the main point of the management of the Police Intelligence Activity and therefore the user’s as well. The user of the Police Information uses an eminently technical empirical information analysis model. The Science of Information, being a science, has Models of Information Recovery that process the analysis of the information. Therefore the objective of this article was to weigh the Information Science Information Recovery Models to be used in the analysis of Police Information. Among the samples seven models of information user behavior were highlighted, starting with the Wilson models; then the Taylor model was explored; the third was Ellis's model; the fourth was Dervin's model (Sense-Maquing); the fifth was Ingwersen's model; the sixth, was Kuhlthau's model; and the seventh was the model suggested and applied by a European Union Literature Documentation (ALFIN). The results showed that the models for analysis of police information are fully compatible; since the ALFIN-Literacy in Information Model being more adequate for the first approach to police information analysis. However, future approaches will demonstrate that, with the approach of Police Intelligence of Information Science, the other six models must be used in the analysis of Police Information. Promoting an interdisciplinary mediation between the scientific contributions of a science such as Information Science with a very important Technical Activity such as Police Intelligence will undoubtedly only prosper this, which will promote better Criminal Prosecution in dealing with the phenomenon of crime.

  • This dissertation has as its central theme the promotion of infocommunication skills, so that people can deal with two of the great inputs - information and communication - of today's society. Its general objective is to identify the elements necessary to promote infocommunication skills among high school students. The specific objectives are to analyze the standards, programs and models of training in infocommunicational competences existing in Brazil and promoted by supranational institutions; develop a model for the promotion of infocommunication competences aimed at high school students; and to experiment with the model of promoting infocommunication skills with high school students. Therefore, there is a qualitative research of an applied nature. To reach the objectives, a bibliographical, documentary research was carried out, as well as the experimentation of the elaborated teaching model. The experience was composed of three distinct moments: search and analysis of similar experiences; development of a competency promotion model; and application of the model with students of the last stage of basic education. Fourteen documents were retrieved and in order to analyze them, the parameters of the categories of infocommunication competences elaborated by Borges (2018) were used. With the necessary factors for the elaboration of a model of teaching in infocomunicacionales competences, it was realized, through the platform Moodle, its experimentation with 23 students of two schools, being one public and another private, of the city of Salvador. For this stage of the work, we used the research and research methodology known as Design-Based Research (DBR), named in Brazil as a research-development or research-application. With experience, it is considered as substantial the promotion of more practical actions so that the competences are better developed and improved and it is desired to adapt and improve the applicability of the contents of the course according to the reality of the participating groups, as well as the way in which educational institutions could implement it in their pedagogical curriculum.

  • The present work presents the results of a study about reading mediation in community libraries, with the overall objective to examine the dimensions of the mediation achieved in the activities carried out by community libraries of the city of Salvador. To achieve this purpose, three specific objectives were worked, seeking to identify the types of activities carried out by the community libraries, analyse the dimensions of the mediation referred to in development of the activities of mediation of reading carried out and check the frequency of the offer of mediation of reading activities. As for the methodology, the following methods were adopted: documentary (with analysis of blogs, websites and documents that disseminate the activities) and the multiple case method, with the adoption of indirect observation techniques and interviews, qualitative and quantitative approaches. As main results, it was verified that although the community libraries develop 32 activities that are related to the mediation of reading, however these represent only 04 activities, distinguishing only their nomenclature, story counting, reading wheel, text production and reading club. Thus, the dialogic dimension is worked on the activities of reading wheel, storytelling, text production and reading club. As for the aesthetic dimension, there is a certain scope in the activities of storytelling and the production of texts when the reader goes beyond the act of reading, using creative action in their daily life. But, on the other hand, the formative dimension in the activity of producing texts is partially worked out when the reader is motivated to generate texts from the readings that he makes. Already the scope of the ethical dimension can be considered intermediate in the activities wheel of reading and storytelling. Finally, it was observed that the political dimension was not contemplated among the activities developed by the community libraries. Thus, it can be said that this work achieved its general objective of analyzing the level of mediation of reading carried out by the community libraries of the City of Salvador.

  • This research deals with the creation of basic and complementary bibliographies of UFBA undergraduate courses, the university library and the teaching staff, in the light of CONAES standards. The objective of this study is to evaluate the behavior of the teacher, based on: the selection criteria adopted for the construction of bibliographies; difficulties in the use of information sources; of information about which sources he uses for his didactic-pedagogical update; Besides, it is intended to find out what obstacles he encounters in order to pass information to the library. The research was carried out, from a theoretical point of view, based on a review of the literature and government standards in the area of higher education. The inductive method was used for the methodological approach. As for the objectives, the adopted method has an exploratory character, since it sought to learn about a phenomenon, which is still obscure, occurred within the university. It presents a qualitative and quantitative nature since it will use the professor's responses as well as statistical data about this population. The population was constituted by the professors who teach the compulsory subjects in the first and second semesters of the UFBA's newest and oldest undergraduate courses, attended by university libraries, selected for their representativeness of the number of courses per area of knowledge within the University. The subjects intends to meet the specific objectives of the research, which determines the flow of information regarding the indication and acquisition of the basic and complementary bibliographies of the courses. Thus, this study sought to bring to light the organizational resources, which are unknown, or even disregarded, by individuals involved with the context of the libraries, courses and university. The data analysis, compared to the reality known and experienced by UFBA university libraries, revealed the lack of knowledge of some professors about the flow and the instruments of academic planning, which hinders the course of information, as well as the conceptual understanding about basic and complementary. Regarding the information sources, the professors began to consult them via the network, not following the quality criteria that the library adopts, according to what the Policy of Formation and Development of Collections is established. According to the results, the professors pointed out difficulties in passing information about both basic and complementary bibliographies to the library of their unit. It showed the incommunicability of the library with them, harming the information-student interaction, as well as impairing the evaluation in locus of the library indicators, carried out by INEP. It is hoped that this study contributes by proposing innovative solutions and guidelines in the communication with professors, with their process of construction of the subject bibliographies and for the development of collections policy in university libraries.

  • Digital marketing is a management tool that aims to improve the performance of organizations, by knowing the demands of their clientele and promoting customized services. To do so, it must integrate the strategic planning of organizations and be explicit in the form of a marketing plan. In this perspective, the development of this theme was carried out by the Federal University Libraries Systems of the Northeastern Region of Brazil, in a number of nine, with the objective of identifying if these Systems adopt Strategic Planning and, in it, digital marketing to promote the products and services through social media. As for the methodological procedures, this is an exploratory-descriptive research, with a qualitative and quantitative approach; to comply with them, a documentary research was carried out, a questionnaire was applied for data collection to the Directors of the Systems and a direct observation was made of the respective sites and their Facebook pages. The results of the study found that most of the SIBI surveyed, despite the lack of periodic updating of Facebook pages, uses this social media in the perspective of digital marketing, which is understood as positive. However, it is concluded that the directors' answers, for the most part, as shown in the data analysis, do not correspond to what the literature says about the marketing plan within the strategic planning, nor to what was observed directly on the SIBI and its Facebook pages.

    ABSTRACT


    The research analyzed the representation of information in two newspapers, with the greatest number of movements within the city of Salvador - Bahia, Afternoon and Mail, during the year 2015, and how they present the issue of violence against young blacks. The work permeated several disciplines, contributing to the discussion and understanding of the multidisciplinary theme and a better understanding of social representations and violence against young blacks in society. A bias was constructed to analyze the effects of the messages presented in the language and print formats printed in the newspapers to the consumers of these communication and information vehicles through the analysis of content presented in categories represented in timeline. The analysis of the study of reception and mass communication was prioritized; the interest of cultural studies in human activity; on the space that occurs the mediation, that is, the society, besides turning the attention to the historical process of the marginalization and racial discrimination; the influence of the media in social representations, bringing to light the relationship between journalism, media and crime. The objective of this research was to investigate the representation of messages presented by vehicles through language and printed images. As a result, it is pointed out that information when accessed and / or used it reiterates, structures and / or modifies values and beliefs, that is, it shows the relationship established between people and information. In this way, the theoretical contribution of Information Science in relation to social representation is dependent on the Social Sciences, because this is an area that remains flat, with regard to criticism and analysis of representations. The representation of information does not always translate through concepts, the meanings that come from the information registered by its authors.

  • Presents the use of facets, originating from the theory of the faceted classification of the Indian Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan, as a way of organizing information and structuring digital spaces. Discusses in the theoretical foundation the facet element from the organization of knowledge, from the characteristics that formalize the theory of faceted classification and from information architecture with an emphasis on organizational structures. The objective is to investigate the application of facets as a model of information organization and structuring of digital spaces. Adopts a methodological procedure constituted by the inductive method and by the applied, exploratory and bibliographic research techniques, to which they subsidized, in the period of may to december 2017, the quantitative-qualitative data collection approaches in 35 models of facetting and in the analysis of interface according to the theory of faceted classification in two digital spaces, being one of the academic-professional scope and another of the business world. Presents as results of the research the multidimensionality as a characteristic that motivates the use of facets in the knowledge organization and in the architecture of the information, the preponderant amount of models of facetting is in the discipline of the knowledge organization, most applies in digital spaces, the application in physical spaces stagnated in 2006 while the occurrences in digital spaces have grown since 2003, the academic-professional scope was the most adopted among the models of facet, the personality category was the most present among the other dimensions of mnemonic and the interfaces analyzed have a kind of standard adopted in contemporary websites based on a navigational taxonomy, to which it organizes the information by fundamental categories and their respective facets, and from a list of occurrences that can be filtered according to the choices of navigation and/or user search. Concluded that both knowledge organization and information architecture discuss the development and adoption of facetted knowledge organization systems based on the defense that the same product has different interpretations in a navigational taxonomy, formalize the ranganathian multidimensionality , but without following it fully, they adopt personalized mnemonics and show that contemporary websites, whether academic-professional and/or commercial, have taken on the facet as a medium that is not limited to organize information but also to structure digital spaces.

  • The study is about information needs that are directed to the improvement of production, access and use of information by the Quilombola Communities, reminiscent Quilombola groups that are recently recognized by the Brazilian State. The main objective is to analyze the information needs of the Quilombola Communities directed to the optimization of production, access and use of information by the Quilombola women. Specifically, it is intended to characterize the socioeconomic profile of these women, identifying how they access and use information, as well as to map the necessary information to promote improvements in the mentioned community, and to investigate the effectiveness of the public policies directed to the attendance of their information needs. With this research, it is sought a more amplified comprehension about the identity needs of these Communities. It is a descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative approach, based on Ethnography, which determined as data collection instruments the following elements: semi structured interviews, direct and participant observation, field diary and the informant record for data collection. The data were interpreted in the light of Content Analysis. The empirical field selected for the research is the Quilombola Community of Itamatatiua, in the municipality of Alcântara, State of Maranhão. This Community is composed by 452 people. The investigated sample was composed by 45 dwellers, that is, 10% of the totality. From these ones, 77.8% are women and 22.2% are men. The data were organized in three categories: profile of interviewees, sources and information needs. The results evidence that most of the participants are from the feminine sex, adults, with low or no one schooling, income dependent of governmental programs and, in general, lower than one third of a minimum wage. Orality is the option of all the interviewees as a source for the obtainment of information, followed by television (35) and only seven interviewees mentioned the formal sources (dictionaries, books, handouts and magazines). The information needs that are mapped include themes about health, education, labor, habitation, which are linked to the roles performed by each individual. It is perceived, in the context of analysis of these needs, a fertile space to help in the fortification of the traditional practices of these groups that are transmitted through orality and to become them more conscious about their culture and the place they occupy in the world. It is concluded that the investigated women are information users and their information interests need to be attended, respecting the oral tradition, not only by means of workshops and cultural actions, but also offering possibilities of accessing differentiate information resources, which potentiate their social protagonism, permitting them by themselves the conquer of rights that have been usurped by an exclusionary and discriminatory social structure. This way, it is unleashed the opening of science to society

  • It presents a study on the dissemination of scientific information on news sites that allow the society to understand the themes of Science, Technology and Innovation for the benefit of a greater number of people thanks to easily digestible messages and an accessible use of language. It is based on the assumption that the amount of information on Science, Technology and Innovation issues, divulgated by the news sites, makes it a source of research for the population, and generates a greater dynamics of scientific culture that impacts on the way of life of the citizens who use it in different social environments, among them the academic, due to its immediate and regular access. The general objective of the study is to comparatively analyze the potential and relevance of Science, Technology and Innovation information (environment, new energies, technological advances, education and health) divulgated in the main Brazilian and Mexican news sites, to understand its relevance on the economic, political, social and cultural development process of these countries, to be used in democratic procedure, as well as in informal education as a didactic resource inside and outside the classrooms, benefiting the new generations, cultivating in them the interest for scientific information. Some of the specific objectives are: to identify the information of Science, Technology and Innovation published in the news sites of greater impact and importance in Brazil and in Mexico; analyze the content of news published about Science, Technology and Innovation and its importance in the informational context; examine the type of source, origin and editorial line to verify the accuracy of the information; comparing the situation prevailing in the news sites of Brazil with those of Mexico; show the usefulness of divulgation and knowledge about Science, Technology and Innovation topics to obtain a more informed scientific and academic community; define the role of the new Information and Communication Technologies in the influence exerted by the internet on individuals. This is a prospective study - comparative in its analytical form- descriptive, using quantitative and qualitative tools, through an observation technique to study the data, verifying the usefulness of the scientific information presented in the selected news sites of Brazil and Mexico. The method used for data collection is the daily search in the news sites of Folha de São Paulo, from Brazil and El Universal, from Mexico, in four stages: the first analyzes the information areas that make up the project, the second category the third identifies the theoretical frameworks that support the concepts used in the postings, and the fourth one verifies how science is represented in the sphere of the divulgation of news sites.

  • It will be presented research based on elements supported by theoretical approaches, making it possible to realize potential interactions between information management models and internal controls. The controls of public institutions, including federal universities, in order to be efficient require information. In many cases, the controls analysis is more focused on their structure rather than on the information that the user needs, searches and uses to perform internal control activities. In this context, this research aimed to analyze the information management of internal controls of the federal universities of the northeastern Brazil. The specific objectives corresponded to three aspects.The first one presents the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) referential as a model adopted by control bodies in Brazil, and to discuss the reasons for having its focus on control.The second presents the Choo model as a new concept that can be adopted by control bodies in Brazil and to discuss how this model can contribute so that the focus on control can be modified to the focus on the information management of structure’s control.The third proposes an analysis of information management of internal controls from the meeting of characteristics of the Choo model, with the assumptions proposed by the Federal Audit Court (TCU) regarding the internal control structure based on the COSO model.The methodological approach was based on the method of approach (hypothetical-deductive) and method of procedure (survey). The research is characterized as a descriptive study. The data collection instrument was the form, which gathered data of the internal controls structure’ functioning present in management reports of the federal universities of the northeastern Brazil, in 2014. The analysis model, or theoretical scheme, was performed by the interaction of the internal control framework model, from the COSO framework, with the information management model proposed by Choo. In the obtained results, it was observed that, in the majority of the researched universities, the operation of information management of the internal controls is partially efficient.Finally, it is expected to contribute to the development of actions related to the identification and analysis of groups of information users, and that informational research to better reflect on the complexity of the environment, to present efficiency and effectiveness to the methods used in the organization of information, aiming at recovery and access which provide answers to the demands of the user and destination of the information in the appropriate format and to the right person.Therefore, it is necessary to reflect on the relevant extension of the information specialist’s presence in decision-making processes.

  • There are vast experiences in digital technology education in the classroom in different Brazilian regions. The objective of this research is to analyze the digital information policies adopted in the public high schools of the capitals located in the Northeast region, regarding the adoption of mobile devices for access to information. For specific objectives, schools were mapped to be part of the sample surveyed. Next, the identification of the mobile devices used in the schools studied and the investigation of the consequences of the use of the mobile devices for access to the information and finally to understand the reasons of the adoption or not of the mobile devices by the schools to be part of the investigation. It is a descriptive research, with an approach that is characterized as qualitative and quantitative. The procedures adopted refer to the study of multiple cases and the techniques were based on questionnaires with teachers from the nine federative units of the Northeast region. For the execution of the research, the teachers of the average level of nine units of education of the Northeast - being a school in each capital - were consulted through questionnaires sent by electronic mail. The questionnaires sought to investigate the concept that the teacher has about the use of mobile digital technologies in the classroom, what devices are adopted, if there is difficulty in the use of these technologies in the classroom, how often the use in class, technology Digital technology most used between the cell phone, tablet and notebook and how is the experience with the use of digital technology in the classroom. The results show that the tablet, a mobile device offered by the Ministry of Education to many public schools in the Northeast region, mainly for the use of teachers, is one of the least used mobile technologies used by teachers. The mobile and the notebook are work tools most used by teachers in class, finding no difficulty in using and the results obtained with these mobile technologies in the classroom, add value in the acquisition of knowledge regarding the classes without the aid of these technologies . We have identified examples of digital information policies within schools in Fortaleza (CE) and João Pessoa (PB) that can serve as a basis for the creation of a digital information policy in other states.   • The librarian and his insertion in the labor market through public tenders constitute the theme of this dissertation, whose purpose was to investigate if the vacancies in public competitions for librarians have been increasing or decreasing in recent years in Brazilian public institutions. In order to link this research, the general objective was to identify and analyze the existence of labor market expansion for librarians in public institutions in Brazil. Specifically, it was sought to raise public bids for librarians in recent years; To identify the offer of public tenders by spheres of power and typologies of public institutions; To verify the specialized knowledge in Librarianship that have been demanded in these competitions, through the documentary study, where the universe is defined by the examination of the edicts and competitions tests, in the federal, state and municipal spheres defined by the criterion of accessibility (tests and edicts Available on the Internet) and the literature review to support the research, addressing topics related to the labor market in general lines and in the public service, with a focus on the librarian, ways of joining these institutions, as well as the professional training of graduates in librarianship . As a result of these observations, the labor market for librarians expanded in the context of public tenders. It is concluded, therefore, that in general, librarians seek to enter into public performance, in search of professional growth and stability.
