SUMMARY:

The writing of this thesis was inspired by existences, lived narratives and listening
attentive, which are connected to my being-and-being-in-the-world. In this sense, I sought
life stories inherent to geographic reality. Experiences, stories and movements
lived were interpreted based on the interpersonal relationships of the inhabitants of the
cities of Cravolândia, Jaguaquara and Santa Inês, located in the Jiquiriçá Valley – Bahia.
The intersubjective exchanges constructed in the context of relationships produced
questions: is it possible to outline reflections that allow access to the urban interior,
through emotion, imagination and wonder? It is possible to delineate this urban area from
performative geographies? How to conduct the investigation to identify
geographic performances? How to live, feel and reflexively capture this urban environment? As
the bodily actions that occur in everyday life express a phenomenological reading of life
urban? The methodology applied to achieve these answers was related to the
bibliographical research, quantitative data analysis, semi-structured interviews and
narratives, informal conversations and observation of actions in the field, after listening, experiencing,
feel and narrate stories, based on the spatiality of my body. Using narrative
memorialistics as a methodology, we sought to reconstruct memories, provide other
senses to them and, in this way, sharpen their listening, feel the reports and intertwine reality
and the speech. I investigated the urban interior from phenomenological perspectives,
guided by the studies of Dardel, Heidegger, Merleau Ponty and Bachelard, among others
authors. Associated with this process, I connected geography, understood here and
expressed by Dardel, as an ontological category based on the existence of being -, at the same time,
performance as a possibility of manifestation of geographicalities. One way
that unites Geography with Art. The trails of experience showed bodies in action, occupying and
producing urban space, through an integrated appropriation of its own
experiences, desires and objectives that together reveal collective geographic performances. These contexts overflow with playfulness, poetry and social struggle, since bodies in action can experience and feel in an organic way. There, art creates a path for a geographical practice open to sensations, aspirations and experiences, allowing the imagination of curves, cycles and intersecting roads.
