SUMMARY:

Introduction: Dizziness is a common and complex symptom that can manifest itself in different ways. Clinical attention often focuses on acute dizziness and differentiating between peripheral and central causes of dizziness. The assessment of ocular motricity emerges as a crucial aspect in the assessment of dizziness. Understanding the oculomotor characteristics in patients with non-acute dizziness can provide significant insights into the underlying mechanisms and guide more effective intervention strategies. Objective: Compare the assessment of oculomotor function in individuals with and without complaints of non-acute dizziness. Materials and methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional study. It is expected to reach 100 participants, selected for convenience, aged 18 years or over and who complain of persistent dizziness, but without feeling dizzy at the time of the assessment. Participants will undergo different oculomotor tests, based on visual observations and the data will be statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program. In order to check whether there are significant differences between the groups with regard to clinical tests, the Chi-square or Fisher's exact test will be used. Expected results: It is believed that participants with non-acute dizziness will demonstrate a greater prevalence and severity of oculomotor abnormalities compared to those without complaints of dizziness.
