AREA: Psicologia
SUMMARY:

The relationships between art and mental health are multiple in history, with art sometimes being explored in its therapeutic and treatment potential in different cultures, sometimes being considered as not very relevant. The Brazilian psychiatric reform has a conceptual and theoretical heritage that values the cultural and artistic dimension, having encouraged its practice in substitutive services, which is an innovative challenge for mental health care, since the workshops themselves constitute a format with freedom to create new ways of caring. However, Brazil and Psychiatry have historically had an asylum relationship with madness. In this scenario of epistemological and ethical dispute, the artistic workshops present formats both innovative and reproducing a classic psychiatric model, and the objective of this study is to analyze the ways of caring through art present in mental health services in the municipality of Jequié, Bahia. It is intended to achieve the specific objectives: (a) to examine the discourse of technicians and mental health managers about the artistic-therapeutic interventions carried out in that space; (b) investigate what patients say about the experience of artistic workshops; (c) reflect on the different ways of caring for patients through art; (d) list principles for conducting expressive artistic workshops based on a dialogue between psychoanalysis and art. For this, the methodology of discourse analysis of interviews and direct observation of the field will be used, triangulating these data with data obtained in a systematic literature review that investigates the relationship between art and mental health in Brazilian scientific productions. The expected results are a systematic review on art and mental health that explains the state of the art of Brazilian scientific productions, the discourses of patients and mental health professionals analyzed in the light of Pêcheux's discourse analysis, and the production of a document that lists the principles for a new way of working with art and mental health proposed from the experience of the study.
