SUMMARY:

ADHD is a neurobiological disorder characterized by changes in dopamine levels responsible for attention and motor behavior, resulting in difficulty regulating attention responses to environmental stimuli. The impairments evidenced in Executive Functions mainly involve sustained attention, working memory, planning, organization, and social behavior. In Brazil, studies on interventions for children with ADHD are small. The reduced number of studies on cognitive rehabilitation in children with ADHD might have contributed to increased medication use without consistent neurofunctional gains.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the Pay Attention! in reducing attention deficits in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder accompanied by the Psychosocial Care Center - CAPS IA in the city of Vitória da Conquista - BA. Method: The study design is quasi-experimental with a comparison of groups and pre and post-test. For this, a comparison will be made between children diagnosed with ADHD and submitted to the attentional intervention program Pay Attention! and children diagnosed with ADHD who will not receive the intervention (waiting list). Research participants will be 120 children aged 6 to 10 years, 60 children in the experimental group, and 60 in the control group. Data collection will occur after the parents' authorization through the Free and Informed Consent Term (FICT) and the child's assent through the Free and Clarified Term of Assent (TALE). The collection will begin only after approval by the Research Ethics Committee.

Outcomes: It is expected that, with the application of the intervention program, once the effectiveness of the intervention has been investigated, this association can generate a theoretically relevant discussion by promoting a new agenda of understanding for practical questions that are frequent when talking about on attentional processes in children with ADHD, expanding the possibility of carrying out recent studies and promoting the improvement of attention deficits that are the leading causes of learning difficulties in this public.
