SUMMARY:

There are three cases in which assistance in terminating pregnancy is the right of those who become pregnant, diagnosis of baby anencephaly, when it poses a risk to the woman's body or in cases of rape, up to 22 weeks of gestation, according to the Brazilian penal code. Since 2005, the Ministry of Health has published the Technical Standard for Humanized Abortion Care, which was later reissued in 2011. This standard points to the great importance of welcoming and providing good guidance to women who need the service. Thus, the question arises: how have health professionals from a public service in the interior of Bahia understood reception and guidance in situations of legal abortion? It is justified that this topic has scientific relevance, as there are still few studies that address the topic, focusing on the perception of Brazilian health professionals and bringing technical products that aim to bring improvements in the quality of care provided. Furthermore, it complies with the ethical principles of the Code of Ethics for Psychology professionals, as it is a way of contributing to a discussion aimed at respect, promotion of dignity, freedom, health and quality of life and critical and historical analysis of political reality , economic, social and cultural of the national and regional context? Furthermore, the topic is related to Health Psychology, the area of concentration of the Master's Program in Health Psychology at IMS/UFBA. In this way, we intend to analyze how health professionals have understood Reception and Guidance in situations of legal abortion, in public services in the interior of Bahia. To this end, a qualitative study will be carried out with professionals from an obstetric center who have direct contact with women and other people who need abortion assistance in cases of legal abortion. Data collection will occur through semi-structured interviews and data analysis will be carried out from the perspective of content analysis. At the end of the process, teaching material will be produced, with the aim of assisting health professionals in their practices, with regard to humanized assistance, reception and guidance for women and other people with gestational capacity.
