SUMMARY:

This study will analyze the repercussions of exercising the role of Course Coordination on mental health (stress and anxiety) perceived by teachers at a Federal Higher Education Institution. There is extensive literature that deals with the mental health of university professors and their possible triggers, but little has been scrutinized into these triggers to verify how much each one is more or less potentiating this illness in these employees, such as, in focus, the function of Coordination of Course. Therefore, we intend to undertake a discussion about the need to think about strategies to alleviate the workload and repercussions of exercising the role of Course Coordination on the mental health of teachers. Teachers who worked or work in the Course Coordination between 2006 and 2024 will participate in the study. To carry out this qualitative, descriptive research, a sociodemographic, socioemotional and socioprofessional questionnaire and a face-to-face, individual and semi-structured interview will be used. Data collection will only occur after approval by the Ethics and Research Committee (CEP/UFBA). The questionnaire data will be tabulated and the interviews will be manually transcribed, for later interpretation through the thematic content analysis approach based on Bardin's Content Analysis. The aim is to use the IRAMUTEQ software, given that it systematizes and optimizes the data exploration and analysis stages. The results should support the development of a Training Course for Course Coordination, aiming to promote job satisfaction and mental health among university professors.
