SUMMARY:

Scientific production has grown exponentially throughout history, however, its practical application does not follow the same path in several areas of knowledge, such as health, education and above all in ecology. Given the importance of producing usable scientific content, this work carried out a systematic review of environmental problems in tourist islands in general, and sought to perceive at a local scale the most relevant environmental problem in the archipelago municipality of Cairu-BA to assist municipal public management in decision making.
