This dissertation addresses the theme Environmental Management and Insular Environmental Problems, choosing as a research problem “environmental problems, loss of biodiversity, inadequate final disposal of waste, solids, disorderly urban growth and lack of basic sanitation, which has been occurring in recent decades, can are related to the absence of public policies for environmental management” The guiding questions of the research are the following: List the environmental problems that have been accentuated in recent decades in the municipality of Cairú, Bahia, which may be related to the existence of public management policies environmental. As the absence of public policies for environmental management in the municipality of Cairu, Bahia, in recent decades can be related to the loss of biodiversity, inadequate final disposal of waste, solids, disorderly urban growth and lack of basic sanitation. Is there a relationship between the absence of public policies for environmental management in the municipality of Cairu, Bahia with a possible loss of biodiversity, inadequate final disposal of waste, solids, disorderly urban growth and lack of basic sanitation? The research had as specific objectives: To identify the environmental problems that have occurred in the last decades in the municipality of Cairú, Bahia, which are related to the existence of public policies for environmental management; To analyze if the absence of public politics of environmental management in the city of Cairu, Bahia, in the last decades cause loss of biodiversity, inadequate final disposal of residues, solids, disorderly urban growth and absence of basic sanitation; Explain the relationship between the absence of public policies for environmental management in the municipality of Cairu, Bahia with the loss of biodiversity, inadequate final disposal of solid waste, disorderly urban growth and lack of basic sanitation. The analysis of the research data showed that the insular environmental problems that occur in Cairu are related to the absence of public policies for environmental management.
