RESUMO:

Between the end of the 19th century and the mid-20th century, a large number of factories were installed on the Itapagipe Peninsula, in Salvador city. With the change in the city's economic model, and the creation of new industrial centers, the vast majority of these facilities went into abandonment, like the old Jurubeba Leão do Norte Factory, which is the object of study of this research. Implemented by the sea, it consists of a set of buildings that came from a old big house built in the late 19th century, and expanded, forming much of the Largo da Boa Viagem. It is understood that the object is part of the industrial heritage of Salvador city, which is, in general, threatened or in the process of disappearing. The complex is in a process of degradation, mainly the big house, of which the roof is ruined. Thus, from an analysis that aims to identify the patrimonial values that the object carries, as well as to recognize the local demands and potentialities, it is proposed to transform it into a school shipyard, aiming at the maintenance and restoration of its factory spatiality, which carries the memory of the industrial occupation on the Itapagipe Peninsula.
