RESUMO:

The present work of conclusion of the Professional Master's Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Historical Centers has as its object of study the Casarão dos Alcântaras, built in the municipality of Livramento de Nossa Senhora, Bahia, in the middle of the 19th century, using the traditional method of adobe. At the beginning of the 20th century, it underwent a beautification reform, gaining eclectic architecture in its façades. Nowadays, it is in an advanced state of degradation, being still possible to recognize the environment that is integrated. The main objective of this dissertation is the conservation of the building through restoration, adopting technical solutions used with construction technique of the monument, the use of theoretical foundations, the diagnosis of degradation and the adaptation to the new use, seeking the pre-existence to transmit its meanings to as future generations.
