SUMMARY:

The dissertation “The transit between non-formal teaching spaces and the
school: the valorization of the fishing colony as an educational space”, aims to
question the places where knowledge is produced. When academic spaces are
confronted with experiences that conflict with this knowledge, questions arise: How
do we learn? Who are the masters? From these points, we present a series of
projects that promoted actions with public school students at the Z6 Fishing Colony
in Itapuã, in Salvador - Bahia. By raising awareness, promoting and experiencing
disparate realities, students were able to recognize the values of art, work and the
feeling of belonging, and this experience allowed them to participate in a process of
cultural resistance. This research had as its main reference the methodology of
Paulo Freire and the triangular approach of Ana Mae Barbosa, the importance of art
as an experience conceptualized by John Dewey and the vision of Luiz Fernandes
de Oliveira and Vera Maria Ferrão Candau of a decolonial, anti-racist and
intercultural pedagogy. . In this way, thoughts were developed that understand the
multidimensionality of culture, in its technical, pedagogical and ritual manifestations,
awakening students to reflection, criticism, artistic and cultural production.
