SUMMARY:

The palimpsestic traces of the 3rd Biennial of Bahia compose the framework of research that will be translated into broader fields of investigation regarding transcultural movements. With a 46-year hiatus in relation to the previous editions, the symbolic third plunged into the artistic and cultural expressions that integrated the main section of the Biennial: Imaginary Museum of the Northeast. The thesis weaves the narratives, performances and exhibitions of the Imaginary Museum into the dismantling of a Western spatial-temporal universalizing syntax. The notions of traces and transcultural palimpsests intersect and crisscross the process of subjectivities embedded in the discussion regarding memory, archives, imaginaries, poetics and the transversal movement of the everyday life. The transcultural palimpsest of the 3rd Biennial of Bahia, therefore, juxtaposes and crisscrosses the traces that emerged and amalgamated in reverberations during the event. Embedded in the present-at-hand, the transitional-relational position from where the investigations take place within the spontaneity and improvisation applied to the artistic and transcultural activities that enabled a participatory plunge into the trans-historical recurrences of expressions. The 3rd Biennial of Bahia engages into the experimentation and creative processes that confluence with the putting in place of mechanisms regarding generative echoes of genesis. From the desultory waves provoked by the movement and mouvance of the 3rd Biennial, its traces became inscribed and internalized as a profound inquiry of transcultural praxis as well as the continuance of life in its everyday transpositions.
