DONA CLARA CLAREOU OR SIMPLESMENTE DESTROÇOS: SYNOPTIC-CRITICAL EDITION STUDY OF THE SOCIAL ROLES OF THE CHARACTER CLARA
Jurema Penna. Dona Clara Clareou. Philology. Social Roles. Synoptic-critical edition.
The present work falls within the area of Philological Studies and takes as its object of analysis the theatrical text Dona Clara Clareou or Simplesmente Destroços (1981), by the Bahian playwright Jurema Penna, whose premiere took place in 1982, in order to carry out a critical study -philological of its production, transmission and reception process, taking it as a product of the culture of a time. In parallel, an analysis of the social roles attributed to the protagonist Clara will be carried out, from a gender perspective, in order to elucidate the roles considered feminine in a patriarchal society, which establishes behavioral patterns and creates barriers to freedom, autonomy and sexuality of women, above all. In this way, the study of the gathered documentary set will allow, from the perspective of Philology, to carry out an analysis of the construction of Clara, both through her persona and also through the reception of the character by censorship. This study will culminate in a synoptic-critical edition based on the selection of typescripts dated 1981a and 1981b, belonging to the Espaço Xisto Bahia Collection – NAEXB.
