SUMMARY:

This work aims to catalog and analyze the productions of two artists, Nancy Rourke and Kilma Coutinho, based on materials selected from the main social networks (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), in the pandemic period from 2019 to 2021. By articulating literature and art feminine, inserted into culture by the Deaf themselves, we sought to present the importance of Deaf art and how it can be enriched by dialogue when established between Deaf cultural studies and studies of visual culture, as reflections on how art can contribute for the construction and dissemination of their own identity are evidenced by the broad cultural appropriation by the Deaf. To theoretically support the study, researchers such as Skliar (2011; 2013) were used; Sonnenstrahl (2002); Ladd (2003); Durr (2006); Karnopp (2010; Mourão (2016) and Sutton-Spence (2021), referring to Deaf visual arts, Deaf culture and identities, as well as artistic movements organized by Deaf people in the United States and Brazil. The methodology used was ethnographic and bibliographical research, in which the most impactful works were observed and related to feminism and the suffering of Deaf women. 151 works by the two Deaf artists were found, among which 8 (eight) by Nancy Rourke and 4 (four) by Kilma Coutinho. Based on the analysis of the authors' Deaf art, carried out in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, from 2019 to 2021, and focused on violence against the female body in the Deaf community, it was observed- The role of representing women's Deaf identity is concluded with a proposal to create the Surdartidade Gallery, a relevant and purposeful measure for the promotion of cultural diversity and the construction of a society with fairer and more equal linguistic accessibility. There is also a need to carry out future research that describes and understands the reality of artistic expressions by Brazilian Deaf artists, locating their theme with regard to violence against Deaf women.
