SUMMARY:

Peru was the scene of numerous episodes of violence and barbarity between the years 1980 and 2000, a period later known as Internal Armed Conflict (CAI). These events profoundly marked the country's history and consequently the lives of those who were victims of their effects. Families were devastated, there were large-scale deaths. Orphans, widows and raped women and many young people kidnapped and murdered. In the midst of this context of intense violence, family members who survived the CAI came together and formed ANFASEP – National Association of Relatives of Kidnapped, Detained and Disappeared Persons in Peru with the aim of fighting for justice and reparation, as well as bringing to the memory of all events that occurred in the country so that they never happen again. Formed mostly by women, mothers and wives, ANFASEP develops political and social activism in the country in order to exalt the memory of their families, demanding answers about their destinies, as well as putting an end to a cycle of pain through mourning. The accounts of the painful experiences they lived during the CAI are gathered in the book ¿Hasta Cuando Tu silencio? Testimonios de dolor y coraje. The aim of the research developed so far, and throughout the doctorate, is to present the relevance of these testimonies in the literary testimonial context, through the translation of their reports from the Castilian language to the Portuguese language, understanding through these testimonies, their narrative urgency and activism undertaken by ANFASEP women for memory and translation studies. We will also reflect on decolonial translation work and how traumatic narratives are capable of transmitting experiences of culturally silenced and subordinated peoples. To do so, I will use as a basis the ideas presented by Márcio Seligmann-Silva (2003), Giorgio Agamben (2008), Jonh Beverley (1992), Arrojo (2003), Barbosa (2007), Benjamin (2011), Blume (2013), Carrascosa (2016), De Lima Costa (2020), Fleck (2023), Rodrigues (2000), Scharlau (2003), Souza (2020), (2015), Diéguez (2013), Spivak (2010).
