SUMMARY:

The Editora da Universidade Federal da Bahia (Edufba) is an important reference in the promotion of knowledge, but the memory of this institution, a fundamental part of the dissemination of academic knowledge generated by the university community, still lacks studies. This work aims to assist in the composition and reorganization of Edufba's editorial collection that is currently available, although incompletely and incompletely, in the Lugares de Memória space of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in the Reitor Macedo Costa University Library, in the Ondina campus. Characterizing itself as a bibliographical and documentary research, with a predominantly qualitative nature, we revisit the history of the book in Bahia from its beginnings to the present day, in which we observe the important role of university publishers. Reflections on institutional memory, places of memory and the role of university presses in society were essential for the research. As a product of this study, still in development, we aim, in addition to the composition of the publisher's collection in the University's Memories Section, to trace Edufba's editorial historical profile through its works published between 2015 and 2020, in order to understand in what way the publisher's publications represent and present the knowledge generated by the university.
