SUMMARY:

.Research in Historical Linguistics is quite productive since it traces the history of different natural languages, making it possible to identify in their history the resulting changes that may arise, which is one of the bases of diachronic studies that take historical data for the analysis of their own evolution. Thus, diachronic studies supported by the theoretical framework of Generative Grammar aim to study and analyze language changes over time, in addition to presenting the history and organization of language in the past. In order to verify this possible change, a linguistic phenomenon is necessary, such as the reflexivization, which is an interesting object of investigation to understand the composition of a language in the past, as it, according to Faltz (1977), must be treated as universal (present in all languages) and can be defined, canonically, as a predication of two NPs arguments, where the agent/experiencer arguments must be correlated, thus agent/experiencer and patient must constitute the same person in the speech. Thus, within the scope of diachronic studies, Faltz (1977) discuss reflexivization from the notion of reflexivization strategies of natural languages. According to him, these strategies can be defined as the grammatical devices that languages use to construct reflexive predicates. Thus, Faltz divides the strategies into primary and secondary. In Brazilian Portuguese, Brito (2009) characterizes the use of the reflexive clitic pronoun bound to the verb as a primary BP strategy, and the adjunction of same to the pronominal DP as a secondary reflexive strategy. Furthermore, for Faltz, in the history of a language, the reflexive strategy can change over time, for example, a pronominal reflexive can transform into a verbal reflexive. Namely, pronominal strategies are those in which a special pronoun is used as an object NP to signal its coreference to the subject, being pure pronominals, or when an NP is adjoined to the pronominal DP, being compound pronominals; while the verbal strategies are related to inflection and the verbal aspect, functioning as a reflexive morpheme. Therefore, this work aimed to investigate the reflexive constructions in Portuguese texts written in Brazil and BP between the 16th and 20th centuries, extracted from five corpora available in digital media, observing how they are and what is the nature of reflexizivation strategies in the diachrony of this language. In this sense, then, data from reflexive constructions were sought in all texts that make up the corpora, which are described and analyzed by criteria of a documental nature, which categorize the document and the text, and grammatical, responsible for the classification of strategies and of the elements that compose it. With this description and data analysis, it was possible to understand the formation of reflexive constructions of this language over time, having as a conclusion that BP reflexivization strategies are pure and compound pronominal, but also verbal, and that the primary strategy is a pure pronominal strategy while the secondary strategy is also a pronominal, but composed, which change its nature and the elements that compose it from the 16th century to the current BP.
