SUMMARY:

Among the studies involving Brazilian Sign Language, translation strategies from Brazilian Sign Language to Oral Portuguese Language (LSB-LPO) is a niche that needs to be discussed in greater depth and breadth by scholars of Letters and Translation Studies. Chaibue and Aguiar (2016) presented statistical data that showed great difficulties on the part of translators in this way of translation. Thus, in order to collaborate with studies in this specificity of translation, through a qualitative approach with inductive and interpretive data analysis (MARCONI; LAKATOS, 2003; GIL, 2008; CRESWELL, 2010), I adopted the caption of the video “Getting to know me better”, starring the artist deaf and Drag Queen, Kitana Dreams. In order to present proposals for translations for the aforementioned subtitle, from Batista (2011; 2016) I considered the value of voices (enunciator and translator) and the symbolic value of drag images raised in the discursive level used in the enunciation, observing - through from translation techniques nominated by reworking, free translation and retranslation - linguistic variation, the social meaning of variation, drag speaking style and identity with a focus on Deaf LGBTTQIA+ who perform patterns of femininity. In order to account for the proposed cut – Translation Studies associated with Gender Studies – I established a texture through a plot with interdisciplinary dialogues in order to account for the object of investigation. Hence, I proposed a closer relationship with Third Wave Sociolinguistics, Discursive Sociolinguistics, as well as concepts from French-Brazilian Discourse Analysis and Post-Structuralist Philosophy. Finally, I considered that the LSB-LPO translation modality, in this identity scope, guarantees people who are not fluent in LSB access to Deaf People's discourses, especially to voices and images in Drag Queen artistic performances.
