This thesis presents a study of the variation of the pronoun forms tu and você in oral Portuguese in the North region of Brazil, adopting the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Pluridimensional Dialectology and Sociolinguistics. The general objective of the research is, from the studies already made on the use of tu/você variation, to analyze the linguistic and social factors that condition the variation of these pronouns in the spoken Portuguese in the North region. It seeks to analyze how they are distributed in the seven states that make up the northern region of the country (Amapá, Roraima, Amazonas, Pará, Acre, Rondônia and Tocantins) and observe the relevance of extralinguistic variables (location, sex, age group and schooling) and linguistic (type of reference, type of questionnaire, tense and parallelism) in the linguistic behavior of the speakers. In addition, the objective is to represent, in linguistic maps, the use of the pronouns tu and você, in order to delineate the dialectal reality of that region. It is intended, with this, to contribute to the knowledge of the linguistic reality of Brazil, also the main goal of the Linguistic Atlas of Brazil Project (ALiB), to which this research is linked. In this sense, these pronoun forms are investigated in speech samples of informants of two age groups - age group 1 (18 to 30 years) and age group 2 (50 to 65 years), two sexes - male and female and, only in the capitals, two levels of education - university education and elementary education, totaling 120 informants. For better treatment of the data, the corpus was divided into two samples, so named: 1) Elementary Education sample, with informants from the 24 points in the North region only with this degree of education and 2) Capital sample, with informants only from capitals, stratified in two levels of education. Cases of tu, você and cê were heard and transcribed recorded in the recordings of the Phonetic-Phonological Questionnaire, Prosody Questions, Semantic-Lexical Questionnaire, Morphosyntactic Questionnaire, Pragmatic Questions, Themes for Semi-Directed Speeches and Metalinguistic Questions of the ALiB Project. Through the variation analysis carried out with GoldVarb 2001, it was observed that, in general, the pronoun tu is favored by the linguistic factors parallelism, type of reference and verbal time, in addition to the extralinguistic ones: age group, locality, type of questionnaire, education and sex.
