The Master's student presents to the Qualifying Examination the semidiplomatic edition and analysis of paleographic, codicological and diplomatic aspects of seven reports selected in the Book of Various Crafts of the São João de Deus Asylum (1876-1884), which gathers documents related to the communication between the Asylum and Santa Casa de Misericórdia da Bahia, which was responsible for the administration of the institution from its inauguration in 1874 until 1912. It is a book in which letters and reports were recorded regarding the decisions taken at the São João de Deus Asylum, in addition to detailed description of the conditions of the institution's physical structure, as well as the health situation of patients and staff. Pedro II. The theoretical framework used, of an interdisciplinary character, includes, among others, Philology, Historical Linguistics, Palaeography, Codicology, Cultural History and Terminology.
