RESUMO:

Worldwide, LGBTI+ population (Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transvestites, Transsexuals, Transgenders, Intersex, among others) is daily attacked in a social war, cognitively constructed in the perspective of domination, suffering many forms of violence, due to the fact that they have subverted the norms of the “coherent” heterosexist intelligibility system, which is compulsorily imposed on us (BUTLER, 2003). Prejudice and discrimination against this minority group are especially (re)produced in and by discourse – conceived, in this study, as a social practice and not merely as a reflection or representation of reality (VAN DIJK, 2018). Based on Austin (1990), I understand that, besides saying things, discourse performs actions. Abjecting sexual and gender diversity – by not recognizing LGBTI+ people as equally human and worthy of respect and social protection – is a macro-discourse-act, carried out not only in informal everyday contexts, but especially in political contexts. Within the scope of the three Powers (Executive, Legislative and Judiciary) of the Democratic State of Law in Brazil, this controversial issue produces strong discursivities crossed by ideological clashes. With regard to the Parliament, discursive manipulation (VAN DIJK, 2018) is often strategically used to influence interlocutors to adhere to parliamentary propositions materialized in discourses. From this perspective, my general objective, in this developing Thesis, is to investigate how discursive manipulation is built in macro-discourse-acts that (re)produces abjections to sexual and gender diversity, in the legislative debate about the Family Statute Bill (PL 6583/2013), having as a starting point the understanding of the current Brazilian political cognition in relation to LGBTI+. This is a qualitative research of interpretive analysis, in the light of the multidisciplinary and sociocognitive approach of Critical Discourse Studies (CDS) proposed by van Dijk (2018), which investigates both discursive (re)production of social power abuse and dissident discourses, with special attention to the relations between discourse, cognition and society, and always from the oppressed social groups perspective. This study consists of the following methodological path: (i) bibliographical research; (ii) data generation (download and transcription of a public hearing on the Bill); (iii) pre-analysis (iv) and detailed analysis of the data. The five chapters presented comprise: three theoretical chapters; a chapter explaining the methodology; and a chapter with a preliminary analysis of some categories. I am politically and explicitly positioned in defense of Human Rights and human dignity. Therefore, I also aim to reflect on viable alternatives for the social change so necessary for the construction of a more supportive world with LGBTI+.
