RESUMO:

The present research is a study about accessibility in the audiobook A Acendedora de Lampiões (KAY, 2015), a translation and also an adaptation from the audiobook The Lamplighter (KAY, 2008), made by the Grupo de Pesquisa PRO.SOM, from the Instituto de Letras of the Universidade Federal da Bahia. Written by Scottish author Jackie Kay, this narrative in the epic genre is in the radio play format and it presents the drama experienced by four black women during the slavery regime, specifically, in British colonies. The theme of this research was defined from the need for revisiting the sound script of the radio play and identify in it, audio resources which did not promote a wide understanding of some passages by the listeners. For being the audiobook a sound medium in which the visual field does not act as an auxiliary resource for scene setting, so the sound is established as the main channel for the transmission of information related to the plot, adding to it a great linguistic responsibility. As a fundamental stage of the research, some visually impaired people were invited to participate in audio tests, on account of their recognized hearing acuity and experience in using the audiobook as a literary accessibility tool. Through these procedures, it was possible to obtain data for the necessary sound adjustments made by Grupo de Pesquisa PRO.SOM, afterwards, in studio, and also to constitute a genetic dossier, where the analysis of the selected prototext generated important data that contributed to the improvement of the creation process of audiobooks by the Grupo de Pesquisa PRO.SOM, including generating a new version, in streaming, for the radio play A Acendedora de Lampiões (2015), which, in due course, will be provided by the Editora da Universidade Federal da Bahia (EDUFBA).
