RESUMO:

The spanish variation is a discussion subject since the end of the XIX century. Although, the discussion concentrated in the relation of phonic and lexical aspects. The morphosyntactic variation, in particular, the syntactic variation, was less explored considering the theoretical perspectives available for linguistic study during the first half of the 20th century. Since the 1980s, the generative model implemented a theoretical perspective in order to explain the function of the faculty of language based on the Principles and Parameters model. The variation among subject’s achievement and omission in the differents languages can be explained from divergent parametric choices. The aim of this Dissertation is observe the pronominal subject functioning in American Spanish starting from the description of omission/expression functioning of the American pronominal subject, by observing linguistics and extralinguistics factors that can be conditioning the omission or the expression of the pronominal subject in the spanish of Cuba, Venezuela and Mexico from a corpus of study constituted in a similar way for each one of the regions. The Dissertation is organized in the following way: 1) There’s an introduction in which the proposals, the problems and the hypotheses of the study are presented; 2) Subsequently, we present a brief discussion about the Spanish variation in the present time, with some emphasis for the caribbean spanish; 3) we make a discussion about the realization and omission of the pronominal subject based on the traditional and generative perspective; 4) we present the data and discussed the results obtained from the corpus analysis PRESSEA; 5) we made the final considerations indicating that the data does not entirely confirm the hypotheses inicially formulated.
