SUMMARY:

Between 2015 and 2016, Brazil faced an epidemic of the Zika virus that resulted in a significant number of children born with Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome (CZVS). This syndrome, resulting from Zika virus infection during pregnancy, can cause a pattern of multiple deficiencies in the fetus, significantly impacting their linguistic development process. Considering that these individuals are currently of school age, phonetic-phonological development, given its close relationship with the literacy process, emerges as a crucial area that requires in-depth studies. In this context, this project proposes an investigation in the field of Language Acquisition studies on the phonetic-phonological development of individuals with CZVS. The main objective is to carry out an integrative review of this development in children with CZVS. The specific objectives range from the comprehensive survey of studies on the topic, under the methodology of integrative literature review, to the analysis of phonological awareness and its impact on literacy, passing through the need to recognize these processes as dynamic and complex, influenced by a variety of biological, cognitive, and social factors. It is worth noting that even after the Zika virus epidemic, other children with the syndrome continue to be born, reinforcing the ongoing importance of this type of research. We hope, thus, to contribute to the reflection and improvement of language practices, especially in educational contexts aimed at these individuals, as well as to identify gaps and suggest possibilities for future investigations related to the themes addressed here.
