SUMMARY:

The Portal do Professor de Português Língua Estrangeira/Língua Não Materna
(PPPLE), since its creation almost 10 years ago until the present day, has been
consolidating itself as a powerful virtual platform for the creation and free sharing of
authentic and culturally sensitive educational materials for the teaching/learning of
Portuguese as a Non-Native Language (PLNM) in various contexts. Given the
increasing use of PPPLE by teachers worldwide, especially as a standout Open
Educational Resource (OER), where educators are free to adapt instructional materials
according to classroom needs, the Portal has been chosen as the subject of this research.
In order to analyze data related to the Portal, we will combine theoretical assumptions
about retroactive effect/impact (Alderson & Wall, 1993; Cheng, 2004; Scaramucci,
2004) with discussions on Portuguese as a pluricentric and international language
(Oliveira, 2013), teacher training in PLE/PL2 (Mendes, 2016), production and use of
instructional materials for PLE/PL2 instruction (Mendes, 2011), and the functioning of
an Open Educational Resource (OER). Following these theoretical/methodological
assumptions, the methodology of this dissertation, based on a qualitative-interpretative
approach (Moita Lopes, 1994), will conduct documentary analysis (Cellard, 2008). This
analysis will delve into documents that advocated the creation and dissemination of
PPPLE, such as the Brasília Action Plan (PAB) and the Lisbon Action Plan (PALis), as
well as the Portal itself as a technological/digital resource. It will examine the scripts
and didactic proposals produced by teachers, as well as usability data and characteristics
such as interface, statistical access data, and the quantity of downloads of available
materials. Through this analysis, the aim is to highlight the possible retroactive
effects/impacts of PPPLE on the training of teachers in non-native Portuguese.
