SUMMARY:
The so-called five senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell) are the starting point for the construction of what is denominated knowledge, education and/or
learnings. Languages consolidate knowledge, that is, the building up of the inner being. The historical fact of being a Portuguese colony in the past encourages Brazilians to do much more than (re)exist; it guides individuals to be unchained from what the past holds, to continue along the path of (de)colonizing the way individuals see, hear, touch taste, smell and feel, (re)building ethos and epistemologies that originate from personal enunciative locus. For this reason, this dissertation thesis derived from a geographic and local geopolitics, and it addressed as its main objective the furtherance of the (de)colonization of the senses presented by the research participants and, therefore, the (de)colonization of ontological and epistemological knowledge; and this experience focused on the learning of Spanish in two contexts: in the Instrumental Language class in the History Licensure undergraduate program at the State University of Southwestern Bahia (UESB) and, as well as, in the Foreign Language class in the Spanish Language undergraduate program at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). The theoretical basis was grounded on the Applied Linguistics, which is understood as an area that comprises languages in social use; it is also seen in the Interculturality, recognized as a process that seeks social equity among people; furthermore, Applied Linguistics is viewed in the conception of Language as being always associated with Culture; and likewise, in the Complexity, it is understood as a reconnection of knowledge. The methodology was built within the scope of qualitative ethnographic research with self-ethnographic samplings. The results of the research have shown that a pedagogical practice is urgently required for Instrumental Spanish or Spanish for Specific Purposes and/or a degree on Spanish Teacher Training or any other degree, which may be a (de)colonizer and, above all, that makes no distinction between the given classes, as there is no difference between a Spanish Language Teacher Training program and the undergraduate program in History Licensure, when the main goal is the (de)construction of the sensorial in undergraduate programs. However, the data explicitly reveal that what diverges, between one college program and the other, in reality, are the levels of linguistic knowledge presented among the research participants, with regard to the target language.
