SUMMARY:

Propolis is one of the main products made by bees, and in recent years propolis
produced by stingless bees has gained prominence. Among the different constituents present
in propolis, the main compounds sought are phenolic compounds due to their activity as antiinflammatory,
immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, anticancer and antioxidant. In the present
work, a variation of 13.45±1.64 to 82.05±2.33 mg GAE/g of Total Phenolics was identified
among the 5 species found in Bahia (Plebeia sp., Tetragonisca angustula, Melipona
quadrifasciata, , Frieseomelitta doederleini, Nannotrigona testaceicornes). As for the HPLC
analysis, of the 23 compounds searched, the sample that presented the best result was MQ6
with the identification of 17 compounds in its chemical profile, including Coumarin, another
compound of interest for its bioactive action. In addition to having verified the presence of the
compound resveratrol in all samples of stingless bees, this is the first report of this
phytochemical for the propolis of these bees. And in the antimicrobial test with a yeast
(Candida albicans) and two bacteria (Escherichia coli and Enteroccocus faecalis), the best
results were obtained against the yeast, which was already expected based on the literature.
Thus, the work corroborates its results with other articles, in addition to reinforcing the
propolis of stingless bees as sources of biocompounds and technological potential.
