SUMMARY:

This paper aims to diagnose the current situation of sheep and goat farming in Juazeiro-BA over its eight sub-areas, with a view to identifying obstacles and challenges that hinder the development of this important economic activity for farmers involved in the chain productive. The survey was conducted from 2013 to 2014, it was used as a methodology to collect primary data through structured questionnaires, and literature. It was concluded that problems related to social organization and the lack of technical assistance, hinder the union of farmers in the city of Juazeiro, involved with sheep and goat farming, preventing them from being competitive in order to meet the market scale and product quality and thus ascend in social mobility.
