The present work aims at the sustainable development of religious tourism in the Itapagipe Peninsula, Salvador, Bahia, with plans to revitalize the region and enhance the Sustainable Integrated Tourism Development Plan of the city. This plan addresses cultural, social, economic, and environmental issues, strengthening local identity, infrastructure, and the economy. The research employed both quantitative and qualitative methods, contributing to
public policies and valorizing religious heritage. Furthermore, it opened research agendas in sustainable management, community participation, interreligious tourism, the influence of local religious figures, and cultural identity. In summary, this dissertation promotes sustainable religious tourism in Itapagipe, enriches research in this field, and points to future areas of study.
