SUMMARY:

This research addresses the existing gap between theories and perceptions about the concepts of Social Management and their practice in social and civil society organizations, aiming to seek evidence suggesting a management model for this type of organization, in order to ensure that their socio-environmental purposes are executed simultaneously with the strategic management of the social organization in favor of its sustainability over time. To this end, the method of document analysis was applied to documents obtained from the Associação Obras Sociais Irmã Dulce (OSID) for better understanding of the research field. The compilation of this information, crossed with the analysis and literature review of research and publications related to social management, as well as a management model that uses social and environmental dimensions, enabled the development of a dialogic social management technology for social organizations. During the research, it was noticed that even though many authors seek to distance social management from strategic management and public management, it is in the very dialogue between the management fields that good practices reside that can lead social and civil society organizations both to the execution of their purposes and to the management of their sustainability over time, enabling the continuity of the necessary socio-environmental impacts on society.
