NIETZSCHE THROUGH THE LENS OF SUSPICION
Nietzsche; Suspicion; Truth; Dogmatism.
The present study aims primarily to analyze Nietzsche’s philosophy through the notion
of suspicion. On the one hand, suspicion manifests itself as a critical posture operating
within Nietzschean thought, especially with regard to its confrontation with the ideal of
truth upheld by philosophical dogmatism. On the other hand, Nietzsche himself
becomes the object of suspicion in various interpretative readings: both the form of his
writing and the provocative character of his ideas have, since the late nineteenth
century, elicited diverse reactions, ranging from enthusiastic admiration to vehement
rejection. Thus, the German philosopher emerges as a thinker who, while casting
suspicion into the very core of philosophy, also remains enveloped by it. The
investigation therefore seeks to understand this dual meaning of suspicion in Nietzsche
– both as a philosophical stance and as a hallmark of his historical reception.
