RESUMO:

The present work deals with questions concerning the representation of women of/in theater, by articulating performing arts and gender issues. In the process, the Infographic on Gender Inequality in Cinema in 2018, from the New York Film Academy, and the Bulletin of Race and Gender in Brazilian Cinema 1970-2016, by the Multidisciplinary Study Group of Affirmative Actions of UERJ are analyzed. Based on the desire to understand, from the perspective of gender as a category of analysis, how the representations of women are configured in contemporary theatrical performances, the Bechdel-Wallace Test was tried as an instrument of analysis, whose questions were expanded and reworked in the exercise Faria-Vega test, applied in dramaturgical texts and in three selected theatre shows. The investigation on gender issues starts from the debates proposed by Joan Scott, Guacira Lopes Louro, Kimberlé Crenshaw and Grada Kilomba, while the methodological basis of theatrical epistemologies consists of the productions of Lúcia Romano, Camila Grillo, Roberta Matsumoto and Jean-Piérre Sarrazac. Considering these references, the dramaturgical texts A Doll’s House, As Velhas, Noivas and The body of a woman as a battlefield in Bosnian War are analyzed, as well as the Bahian theater shows A Primeira Vista, Ânsia and Refazendo Salomé. The conclusions of this work reveal the insertion of gender issues in the history of performing arts and present tools that stem from theatrical epistemologies as powerful devices for deconstructing the dichotomies present in gender paradigms.
