THE LANGUAGE OF THEATRICAL SCENIC OBJECT: FROM MATERIALNESS TO SENSITIVE
Scenic objects. Props. Theater. Scenic visuality. Scenography. Set design
The research focuses on the investigation of the object inserted in the theatrical scene, in many variable aspects, in an attempt to recover its material and spatiotemporal perspective in connection with its metaphorical and sign character. Therefore, it is structured in four chapters: the first looks at the artifacts, outside the theatrical scene, in their connection; social, cultural, philosophical and political. The second chapter is aimed at examining and defending what is the theatrical scenic object and its importance for the phenomenon of the scene. The following is intended for an idea of de-metaphorization of this object, through a historical and theatrical review; of the primitive rituals to the Elizabethan theater. The fourth and last one, accompanies the development of the previous chapter, starting from the realistic theater to the contemporary. For these ways, authors from different areas are invited to the dialogue; phenomenology (Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, etc.), linguistics and semiology (Peirce, Eco, Barthes, etc.), sociosemiotics (Alter), theatrical semiotics (Ubersfeld, Pavis etc.), object theory ( Moles, Simondon, Baudrillard, etc.), as well as several authors in the theatrical field (Brook, Brecht, Barba, Stanislavski, etc.). Thus, the study points to the importance and reframing of this object, reassessing its supporting role, with the intention of establishing new debates within the scope of the Performing Arts, especially for the contents about the visual composing elements of the scene.
