This research presents contributions to the education and cultural formation from the field of Capoeira Angola. From the outskirts of the down city of Salvador (Bahia), it was carried out in a delimited expression of this art with one of its main representatives: Mestre Nô. Within this horizon, the key theme of the work is presented: what are the formative elements, systematized as fundamentals and behaviors, of Mestre Nô's Capoeira Angola? How does this contribute to another History of Capoeira and to the cultural formation of its practitioners? Capoeira is understood here as a practice of Afro-Brazilian street culture practised, from the body in the game, as an experience of the social condition of survival. With this I present, through the testimony of his life history, contributions to understand the processes of cultural formation anchored in the experiences of the body and ―other knowledges‖ forged from the memories and experiences within this practice. I understand that all of his knowledges are in relation to the present and the past, inside and outside the “Rodas de Capoeira”. This research was related with the History of Capoeira and I did it from the Master's narratives, with the documents found in his personal collection and specialized bibliographies. The choice of this path was motivated by understanding that History of Capoeira is never neutral, it is a political choice. It is full of memories, many of them silenced. In this way, the personal collections are the entrance doors to a vastness knowledge little explored or still unknown. They are seeds that contain memories waiting to go back to history. Therefore, it is a present task to record and understand another history, from these objects and archival documents, and as a possibility for the winds of history blows in other directions. In order to do so topics of the Capoeira History are deepened, considering the official narrative that generated the invisibility of other Capoeira Angola experiences. The collected research materials bring elements about this process, including the peripheral place of Mestre Nô's history in Capoeira Angola. This set of materials also makes possible to present aspects of the Mestre's life history, the context of his learning and the creative syntheses established by him that fulfil the function of updating the knowledge communicated with his masters, in other words, his cultural formation. The embryonic context of the research is the project to restructure Bahian society, adopted in the transition from the nineteenth century to the twentieth, from the ideals of modernization and taking European cities as model and evidencing the mismatch with Afro-Brazilian practices and customs that occupied the streets of the city, such as Capoeira, Samba and Candomblé. The main context is Mestre Nô's life story. Writing about History from the memories of a living man makes possible to bring these moments, from the past to the present, with the force of the re-elaboration of who lived them. Thus, new possibilities are opened to understand the history of Capoeira, different from the official history that is geographically located in the Historical Center of Salvador and ideologically communicated as the true tradition. This research is situated in a theoretical framework that comprises Oral history and Life history guidelines in the qualitative investigation and the theorical contributions of Walter Benjamin and theoretical-practical of Norival Moreira de Oliveira (Mestre Nô).
