The present work to investigate the characters visual characterization process
from the perspective of possible interactions between the construction of
characters’ appearance and scenic weaving. The first stage of this work
concentrates theoretical studies on the guiding concepts of the research. Next,
in the search to understand these interactions, the soap opera Meu Pedacinho
de Chão is analyzed, with emphasis on the construction of Zelão’s appearance.
Finally, reflections are presented about experiences that led to the object, as
well as the report on the visual characterization process carried out for the show
Beira de Estrada, by Finos Trapos Theater Group, inserted here as a possible
experimentation within the research path. This investigation aims to raise new
perspectives for the visual characterization of characters that can collaborate
with processes that address the relevance of appearance in the creation of a
spectacular scenic work.
