Presentation

The Civil Engineering program at the Federal University of Bahia aims to educate professionals with a strong theoretical and practical foundation in both core and specialized areas of the field. Graduates are prepared to contribute to the productive sectors of Civil Engineering as well as to the technical and scientific development of Brazil, while being attentive to political, social, economic, cultural, environmental, energy, sustainability, human, and ethical dimensions.

At the Polytechnic School of UFBA, the program has traditionally fostered the profile of a generalist engineer with a holistic and humanistic outlook. Our graduates are trained to be critical, reflective, creative, cooperative, and ethical, while maintaining solid technical expertise. They are prepared to research, develop, adapt, and apply new technologies with an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. Graduates are capable of identifying societal needs, formulating and analyzing problems, and developing creative engineering solutions through multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches. Their practice is grounded in global, political, economic, social, environmental, cultural, and occupational health and safety considerations.

Civil Engineering graduates from UFBA are equipped to design and deliver effective engineering solutions by understanding both the users and the broader context of these solutions. They are trained to analyze and model physical and chemical phenomena through symbolic, physical, and experimental validation. They are also able to conceive, design, and evaluate systems, products, components, and processes; implement, supervise, and monitor engineering projects; and communicate effectively in written, oral, and graphic forms. Furthermore, they are prepared to work in and lead multidisciplinary teams, apply professional legislation and regulations with integrity, engage in lifelong learning, and address complex contexts while keeping pace with scientific, technological, and innovation challenges.
